Bank usually only look for basic salary sleep.gif"

My job is commission based only, I'm getting rm30k in 6 months time past year, RM20k for 2010 until now and I got rejected by Citibank and HSBC Amanah.

Keep my finger crossed for UOB and Alliance.

Been using my gf's card for more than a year so thought of applying one for myself.

Gross salary that is. Prior to the deduction of EPF, SOCSO etc.

I request for a replacement card..they sent by normal post..until today I haven't receive it..

Are you using HSBC CC?
I cancelled my HSBC recently because twice they replace my card (first time because I lost my card, second time because my card expired). Both times, I waited weeks and weeks for it. Call them numerous times, and they asked me to be patient because they're sending by normal mail. The last time I called, I asked them "What kind of 'normal mail' that need to wait for more than 4 weeks?!" Did some search online and found that I'm not the only one having this problem with them.

Anyway, back to the topic, I'm looking for a new CC to apply now and wonder what are the good options. I don't need much credit limit but I'm concern about the CC provider's security (less fraud, duplicate cases etc..), overseas recognition & most importantly a 24 hours accesible call center (RHB sux at this).

Is Citibank Airasia good?

Overseas brand recognition is not very important really. Do you know about a credit card from Capital One ? I assume no right ? It is a smallish bank in the US but one of the largest credit card issuers there. It is so famous because it is the only bank that do not impose a single admin fee for overseas usage of their cards while many other banks such as Bank of America, Chase, Citibank etc. all charge 3% admin fee for overseas use. Despite being a small regional bank in the States, Capital One credit card users have no problem using their cards overseas.

As for banks with responsive call center, HSBC is one but you don't like them. May be you should try Citibank ?

In term of customer service, citibank consider very good, but for fraud cases, they are more vulnerable to this. In overall, I am satisfy with citibank if compared with AMEX, dunno wat happen wit their customer service, no one pick up phone calls.

maybe they want to terminate non profitable customers like me gua so they don't want to send the new card to me tongue.gif HSBC call center used to be great but not anymore since they changed their call center. The overseas recognition i want is the card won't have problem getting swipe in overseas. I used to have problem swiping my RHB at overseas.

I'm not aware of the admin fees for overseas though. Applicable to all swipes in overseas? How about hotel reservation through overseas websites?

Yeah, which is why I still can't decide whether to take Citibank Airasia or not. Still worth the try? unsure.gif

UOB is not bad. My hubby is using that and he's happy with it. His only little tiny complain is he don't like the messy monthly statement.

i'm a UOB card user, so far so good. no swiping problem, CS are friendly, application/request is processed quite fast, just quite confused with their CS line, too many options.

on the other hand, i'm using a CIMB supplementary platinum card, i used it at the digi centre to pay bill, cannot go through. use it on TGV website to buy ticket, cannot process either. sienz

be aware that for citi AA, the point for redemption on service tax is much higher than other citi cards
Principle 13,000 vs 10,000
Supplementary 6,500 vs 5,000

Does the bank call you up whenever a transaction have been made using the credit card whether through the retail CC machine or Online payment portal ?
OR it is only applicable to certain banks ?

Hmm .. I see. I was wondering is it necessary for us to inform the bank that such security feature need to be applied on our credit card as well ? ..
Coz its kinda insecure if anyone who posses the card can actually swipe doesn't matter he/she is the owner or not .. ph34r.gif

Depends..

Citibank called me once when I bought tickets online. However, that wasnt my first ticket purchase and even that was being asked after the ticket owner took his flight. SCB never bothered to call when I bought tickets online for 6k.

Bank will only call if there's any suspicious transaction made. For eg, Try filling up petrol at two different location one after another, you will get calls immediately while filling the second tank. smile.gif

Different banks have different mechanism to stop fraud, my above experience was with Maybank.

There was once on the very same day I made a transaction in Hong Kong and in Malaysia as well, but they never even called up. I suspect this is due to merchant's delay in posting the transactions and not Maybank's fault.
