i know ler its a shared bandwidth...im talking about the services we pay, and what we pay now also quite expensive than other country and later nak berkira bandwidth pulak. so what i get now i quite happy, but dont know what happen later if they start cap bandwidth sana sini.. and i already pay high for the peanuts package.. and there is no ferrari package from tmnet pun.. even local link pun nak kedekut bandwidth susah ler, negara lain byk rilex je bagi 100Mbps for home user with almost the same price. Since TM nak monopoly the market, kita kena la push sikit smile.gif

peace <3

dude, unifi is not leased line lah.............this is a shared bandwith service, x kira lah fiber ke miber ke wafer ke....that is just the means of how they connect u to their server...

u pay peanuts, dun ask for leased line level of service...beli kereta kancil nk laju mcm ferrari...mcm mana?

I kinda agree sometimes...Is it because "this is malaysia" that we cannot get cheaper and better broadband?

You bridged the WAN port, LAN ports and wifi, set a VLAN on the bridge itself then set the PPPoE dialer to use it?

Wont that result in WAN traffic being sent across every single interface unnecessarily? shocking.gif

Try setting your wireless to just B/G and try again.

For some reason it works when I set it this way. The bridged setup you see in the screenshot is the default after flashing this router with dd-wrt. I'm using build 14311 on this router. My previous DIR-600 won't let me choose vlan2. If I assign the VLAN to vlan2 interface, PPPoE doesn't work. If I set it to br0, then it does.

I notice yours has been working with vlan2 set as the vlan interface. Probably in the latest build they change the name from vlan2 to eth0/eth1..

Er vlan1 are my LAN ports, vlan2 is my WAN port.. this is the mid-april build and there's an eth2 but no eth0/eth1.

Actually, mine didn't work with vlan2.500 set as the WAN interface either. When I ran my sniffer on it, it showed the PPPoE discovery + reply from the Fiberhome but it would just stop after that.

After I changed the 'Network Configuration vlan2' and 'Network Configuration vlan2.500' settings to Unbridged with multicast forwarding enabled (from 'default'), it just worked on its own. Pretty damn weird :S

TM: No intention UniFi rate review

Zamzamzairani Mohd. Jesus speaks with media during a press conference of the Annual General Meeting of Telekom Malaysia at Pantai Valley, Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 - Telekom Malaysia Bhd. ™ does not intend to review the rates for such services UniFi offered is competitive in the region.

Chief executive officer Datuk Zamzamzairani Mohd. Jesus said:''If taking into account the cheapest package is RM149 per month, TM offers broadband packages with 5Mpbs and includes video (IPTV) with eight lines.

''If calculated at RM149, the user can use broadband with speeds 5Mpbs, rates are very competitive at the regional level.''

UniFi is a high-speed broadband (HSBB) offered three in one other TM also provides ancillary services.

Zamzamzairani said, what is the problem, those who make allegations in an unfair comparison without looking at the technology we use.

''They are, instead comparing broadband service in Singapore, which claimed more affordable, while there, they use the cable and we are using optical fibers,''he said at a press conference after the annual general meeting here today TM.

The present chairman, Datuk Dr. Halim Shafir and chief finance officer, Osman.

Zamzamzairani said TM will continue to focus on adding service facilities UniFi of 18 more by July of this exchange, bringing to 22 exchange lines.

Areas that include Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Kedah and Penang.

In the Klang Valley, the location that will receive the service by July this year UniFi Bukit Kemuning, Subang Airport, North Klang Straits, Sungai Buloh, Melawati, Wangsa Maju, Kepong, Teluk Panglima Garang, Damansara and the Ambassador.

Outside the Klang Valley, including Cyberjaya, Putrajaya, Permas and Senai in Johor, Bukit Tengah and Bayan Baru in Penang and Kulim Hi-Tech in Kedah.

Zamzamzairani said, looking at the total, TM confident it is on track to complete the 750,000 current premises and is fitted with UniFi schedule also provides 1.3 million premises by the service by 2012.

In addition, UniFi services available in Shah Alam, Subang Jaya, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, Bangsar since launching last March 24 has received 1.700 subscriptions.

''However, more than 10,000 potential customers have expressed an interest to subscribe to and are waiting for services UniFi installed,''he said.

Asked about the content UniFi, Zamzamzairani who declined further comment, said his allocated RM250 million to RM300 million for the next three years to the development of content.

Meanwhile, Chairman of TM, Datuk Dr. Halim Shafie said the meeting today between the other has approved a final dividend of 13 cents (less tax of 25 per cent) amounting to RM348.8 million.

honestly speedtest arent exactly reliable, cos sometimes they will have spiking speeds, in ur case, i suspect it's slow speed then near end suddenly boom, one shot data come in, and it recognize as what....200M? yeah, best way is to show torrent screen or DDL full speed screenshot, or a bandwidth graph would also do the trick
lol...eh i wonder when can malaysia have this speed..looking forward to it lol...

to be honest, as end users, we don really give a damn on what technology is used, we just want value performance....if he says IPTV extra charges bla bla bla...why not just drop the IPTV service and offer us a cheaper plan? i'm sure they will get more subscribers with that option.
He did not mention anything about the caps, which i think aint gonna finalize yet as well...well, i hope even VIP5 gets at least 120GB cap, the rest...up to scale would be nice, and throttled speed also should be according to what speed you can, not everything capped to 1M tongue.gif

Well we have the technology now. According to wiki fiber cable can transfer up to 2.5Gbps. So with fiber to the home we have 1 less thing to worry in future.

but the biggest thing is always the ISP, TM, so far from what i see, since they are in their way to monopolize the market, their ignorance is going to kill us, and screw us up like streamyx right now....
i really wish singtel or penangfon would rapidly expand their area of service, if they can provide consistent speed and good service, i don mind paying slightly more every month

Stupid CEO and his cronies are BBS(bachelor of bullshitting). Why don't they unbundle the vip packages and give us only the internet service?Wouldn't that be cheaper for us?That may shave off rm20-30 from the vip packages....

Fiber optic internet has been around for quite some time now and i think the cost is not as high as it used to be.Even fiber optic internet in UK,US and other countries besides singapore is cheaper and faster than us and they still want to give us low cap. This is ridiculous mad.gif

UniFi users, after subscribing to it, the phone number will be different is it? Also, it does not use the traditional phone port anymore is it (because my house alarm connects to the copper line)?
