Looks like TM is really working full swing to deploy the fiber optic connections. Saw TM contractor in Jln Ipoh (near UMA RANI Restaurant) doing work in the man hole which is on the main road. I think cabling work completed.

Also then later saw them in Bandar Baru Sentul (infront of Sentul LRT) , also working on the man hole. Cabling work also looks completed.

I saw TM pulling one cable around 1-2inches thick. How many core is the fiber optic cable that they are pulling.
Isit sufficient to cater to all the users in high density area ? Also how about future expansion/demand ?

Hello.

I'd like to ask some questions.

1. At the rear of  my BTU unit, there are 3 LAN ports, 1 USB slot and 1 Console port available. For what and how can I use them?

2. At the rear of my STB, there's a USB slot. For what and how can I use them?

Thanx.
*
USB cannot use. 3 LAN port u can use to connect to other PC via wired or can use to connect to switch or any other network devices (for wired connection)

1. Oh, I tried to connect to the BTU via wired but no success. I got a limited connection and no internet access.
Are the ports only accessible by routers (I saw my D-Link router plugged to LAN1).
Or if I connect via wired to the BTU, do I need to manually "dial" the internet?

2. Is the USB port behind STP also unusable?
*
1. U cannot connect to the BTU direct. U can only connect to the DLINK.

2. Not usable.

Ooo macam tu.. That answered my doubts. Thanks!

No worries bro. By the way which part of Shah Alam are you ? Even Subang Jaya i heard very limited areas actually got uniFi, despite me seeing them deploying their cables very progressively in Klang Valley they hv not added any new areas in the availability list. I personally spotted them in Kepong & Sentul

Hi guys,
After flashing the TM supplied DIR-615 router to DD-WRT, are you able to setup the the router to use IPTV through the STB?
Thanks.
*
Yes there are a few people flashed it with DD-WR and got the IPTV working with some additional setup. Refer to version 4 thread. There are even some screen shots of it.

wah people in KL sure get lot and lots of benefits from this UniFi.....i wonder what about the other ISP what they gonna do? still dont Wireless BB? i saw maxis started HSBB wireless in bangsar? right? 10/100 mB?>
*
Currently i dont think any other ISP can challenge TM. Their connection is still proven to be good and reliable. Furthermore with the additional services like IPTV and VOIP there is no reason why consumer wont sign up at least for the VIP5 package.

Only issue now is coverage. Only 4 areas covered and they have not added any more areas since they launched.

1) Will they launch any other areas despite many of us spotting them deploying fiber cables actively ?
2) Will they be able to sustain the service level when active consumers increase 10 fold ?
3) How wide will their spectrum of coverage will be even if they cover more areas ?

All this questions is running in my mind. As I might be effected by their coverage issue. I live in a small housing area. With less then 50 houses. Well TM if you reading this, do surprise me.. brows.gif brows.gif

Currently at 1700. 750k by year end, is it even possible or TM just putting some wishful thinking?
*
I think it surely will be possible if they are able to maintain/improve their service.

What sort of changes? Changes that improves the service or changes that block the use of what you discover and share here?

For TM's end its definitely improving their service, for users its blocking. brows.gif

anyone here know any cafe/mamak/kopitiam giving free uniFi wifi? I know Kopitiam 23 in damansara perdana been providing free uniFi Wifi past 2 months ready, others ?

Lets make a list. So those who want to try uniFi can go to the outlet. This will also encourage business owners to install uniFi + WiFi.

1) Kopitiam23 - Damansara Perdana
