With all the speeds the cap is going to be quite bad for some heavy downloaders, :giggle: seriously... like me...
Anyway, anywhere did it state what will happen if we used over the capped bandwidth? AFAIK there's no such cap right now, right?? right?

Guys I followed rizvans guide to use another router with dir-615 as vlan bridge, it worked for 15 minutes and it's dead again now, dir-615 just wouldn't start, it has this blue light by the side and that's all. I am gettin too frustrated bout it, it's the 8th day I subscribed and 4th day it did not work. Is there by chance a router that can totally replace the dir-615, and works perfectly with iptv as well as the hsbb. I've called tm for a router replacement, but if they're gonna replace me with that crap, I better off get a better one for myself. Stress...

A smart switch with VLAN support or pfsense/endian/ddwrt/linux based router should be able to replace the DIR-615 completely. As for IPTV, that depends on the replacement unit itself. Anything that fully supports VLAN tagging and priority settings should be able to replace the DIR-615 for Internet + IPTV use.

Sounds like your DIR-615 is faulty anyway

I have a question : does online gaming count toward bandwidth? No right? Sorry for the nooby question  blush.gif

Well depends.

This is what i found out.

Stuff not counted toward monthly bandwidth

1. local download and upload
2. international upload
3. iptv (uses additional bandwidth which they give ontop of your package, meaning if your VIP5, you get 5mbps + somemore for exclusive use for IPTV)

Stuff counted toward monthly bandwidth

1. International download only

Basically any software on your pc may have traffic to local or international sources. It's hard to tell.

If your playing games like warcraft 3 on US realm with us players, I don't think you need to worry about the internet usage for those things.

The only thing you need to watch out for is torrents, direct downloads, xdcc downloads, or any big file downloading for that matter from international sources.

Having a router loaded with Teddy Bear Tomato firmware is good since they have bandwidth monitoring. Sadly it won't separate international and local traffic :/ But at least is gives you a general estimate for total bandwidth used.
