No idea, most probably we need to go to the TMPoint. I'm pretty near to a TMPoint, so will drop by tomorrow.

just another question here, since it mentioned "international connection"
izit possible that we find a VPN service(i am sure it's easy finding here in LYN) to tunnel from local -> US? that way we are still counted as local connection right?
*
Yes, but no local VPN service is going to give you unmetered 5/10/20mbps on a Malaysian server. Even if you find a web hosting provider which gives you 1TB/mth for RM250-400.. the local datacenter staff would come down hard on them the moment you start using 5/10/20mbps for more than a couple of hours. Besides that, if you're going to be paying that much you might as well sign up for BIZ10 anyway smile.gif

yup, mine is huawei as well... not that bad the modem, looks quite nice.

But the DLINK sucks big time.

My installation took quite long, started at 10.30am went till about 1.45, then it rained till about 3. then work resumed and then TM managed to complete everything by 5.

hahaha... when the guy was configuring it I saw the DLINK router hanged about 2-3 times. Then when I tinkered with it it hanged about 3 times on me personally and sometimes the WLAN signal just disappears. ~weird ~

Truly i say the DLINK sucks big time...

I never enable the wireless function on dir-615. I use my Linksys router with DD-WRT as my wireless router. Much stable as I also have repeater from other house.... smile.gif

So far, my dir-615+GPON terminal haven't hang yet. As for IPTV, I only open it for testing during the installation. After that, pack it up into the box again. No purpose to use IPTV as I already have Byond installed. biggrin.gif

Just to strengthen your point - this is very very real. It's bloody stupid. Think about it this way - now there will be many Unifi users that will be able to pull over 5mbps of content, opening the doors to local website providers to offer HD video content. But the moment 3 to 5 Unifi users pull HD video from a local datacenter simultaneously, the datacenter people will make noise or worst straight cap you down to the "guaranteed" 1mbps.

They should make it cheap to host things locally to encourage more good local content, thus reducing international bandwidth needs!

I understand why you packed the IPTV box. If Unifi is available at my place and if I subscribe to it, I also don't want the IPTV service. There is already too many channels on Astro which I do not have enough time to watch all of it. Why add another IPTV with more channels?

The only thing is your monthly bill includes IPTV service charge as well, and yet you don't utilise it. So TM earned easy money from you.

Pls don't be so kind to TM...

Hi Guys, I would like to ask one question:

As I know for apartment unifi installation, it is still using the existing copper line, not the fiber to modem, right? So, how is the speed/performance wise, are we still getting the same thing as Fiber to modem like those landed properties?

in terms of speed/performance..u will be getting the same as the landed property albeit with a slight increase in latency...and the copper is only from the house to the small exchange that is servicing the building...

so dont worry..

Anyone problems with broken fibers? Since 3 weeks the fiber from the Distribution Point at the roadside is broken, but so far not fixed. According to TM the entire road (in Bangsar) has this problem. It might take more than a month for TM to fix this sad.gif

but we wont know what will happen next month or next few months..

anyone know if to change from VIP5 to BIZ5 any penalty?
if no penalty we should get VIP5 first.. if have.. need to think twice b4 unifi..
