guys, if let's say i take the VIP5 package with RM149/month, do i still need to pay monthly phone rental RM26 ?
*
No, all in the package. They will provide you a VOIP phone.

Anyone upgraded from Streamyx to Unifi, and was told they can only "cyt" their streamyx line on 30 June 2010? Did telekom "cut" your streamyx account by now (7 july 2010)?

well, i can still hear my dial tone, which means they haven "cut" my line yet.

For those who switch from streamyx to Unifi, has telekom "cut" your streamyx account?

the voip phone with the new number is the one you dont need to pay rental..

the old one, on normal phone line, if still exist, u need to pay,.... if u terminate the old one n use only new voip line, then no need to pay.. smile.gif

dear lucas, referring to your post

"well, i can still hear my dial tone, which means they haven "cut" my line yet."

isnt the dial tone referring to your old phone line? not an indicator for streamyx line.. streamyx line is using the old phone line rite?

cutting streamyx means if you dial, u cannot connect anymore, but there is still dial tone if you wish to use your old phones..

just wanted to clarify.. smile.gif

p/s: i never checked yet if they had terminated my streamyx account, will do it soon.. im opting to maintain my old telephone line and terminate streamyx only.. pay xtra RM26 each month.. smile.gif

yes, i was referring to my old phone line (i could still hear the dial tone).

On 14 June 2010, i went to to TM point, the cut my existing Phone line (RM26) and my streamyx (Rm88 for 1mb-->>damm expensive). I was told that they cant cut my service yet coz i am enjoy FREE UNIFI internet services until end of June <<<---WHAT LOGIC IS THAT?

I was told to fill up the form, and they will disconnect my existing Phone line (RM26) and my streamyx on 1st July 2010

I ask back them, if a new unifi user, who subscribe b4 30 June 2010, and he previously is not a streamyx user, DO YOU CHARGE HIM RM88 for the months that he is enjoying free UNIFI? Telekom ppl was not able to answer that.

Fine, i fill up the form, stating that i wan to disconnect two of the services, existing Phone line (RM26) and my streamyx (RM88) and submit to them on site (14 June 2010). Yet until today, i still can hear the dial tone of my old existing phoneline. I suspect they haven Disconnect BOTH of my services (Phone+streamyx) as the form was that i filled up clearly mentioning both of the services.

Now, i need to go to TM point again and "push" for them to disconnect for the services. I think i am going to Charge the Manager all my losses, including the time and petrol for going to TM point again.

To TM, is it so hard to disconnect my phoneline and streamyx??

thanks ...

another question, now my streamyx package is an upgrade package, from 512k to 1M (Super Upgrade Deal) with a 1 year or 2 years lockdown (i couldn't remember). Will there be a penalty charged if i terminate it and apply for unifi ? anyone has the same case with mine ?

Normally for your case, there will not be a penalty, as you are considered as Upgrading. You might need to clarify it at TM Point or other users which is in the same situation as you.

ykc - i was told they won't be any penalty. Unifi users are bound to a new contract anyway.

The logic behind this is simple. TM doesn't want people using the "try and buy" and cancelling their Streamyx and then resubscribing to Streamyx after 3 months in order to obtain free FTTH internet for those 3 months of trial.

Therefore, I think only those who have sign up with Unifi VIP packages will be allowed to cancel their old lines. The "Try and buy" users will be locked down.

You need to install the vlan modules (8021q), vconfig and bridge utils.

Assuming eth0 = from fiberhome

modprobe 8021q
vconfig add eth0 500
vconfig add eth0 600
ifconfig eth0.500 up
ifconfig eth0.600 up

Use bridge utils (brctl) to bridge eth0.600 with eth1/2/3 <-- your IPTV NIC.. for IPTV to work without the video screwing up you also have to set the bridge priority (egress and ingress thingy) to 7

Create a ppp profile.. make sure you set 'plugin rp-pppoe.so eth0.500' so it dials over eth0.500.. set up IP forwarding, iptables, etc.

Sorry for the half-assed guide in sick as hell IRL and I don't have a debian/ubuntu box to configure at the moment.

I used to use a ubuntu server box for this.. I just set up a boot script to run in the end to set everything up for me. Pulling all this from memory ><"

just a question, i am supposed to set an IP address for the vlan interfaces right what IP's do i set?

I'm planning to do some solid QOS'ng on the HSBB line. I dont want torrenting to screw-up my Youtube and streaming experience. Currently I'm using DD-WRT but the damn QOS in the box isnt that solid.

I also want to get my email server to run smoothly and not choke out of bandwidth. I was looking at smoothwall & ipcop but they dont support vlan.

If you want solid QOS and third party firmware, then Teddy Bear Tomato firmware is the only way to go hmm.gif

Best broadcom router for that is RT-N16 atm.
