QUOTE(pedro @ Apr 29 2010, 12:00 PM) This place seems better than Hartamas already. My friends said it might be our new venue to hang out. The shisha at Hart Square is f***ing bullshit now. Burns out in less than half hour while yesterday's one lasted really long. And they love Happy Jack's. The guy was telling me no one ever ordered triple before. LOL, i was thinking if Pedro and angrydog were there, gone la. |

Didn't want to create a new thread but I have a question on water and food intake during workouts and I thought of throwing it out here.
I have been going to the gym for quite a while and I'm happy with my progress but today while I was working out, this FF PT approached me and asked me not to drink too much water (3 liters of water in that two hours) and eat (I hit the gym for 2 hours and I eat a quarter of a banana every half an hour) as he said that it would slow down my progress. Any truth in what he said? |

I think at 3 liters/2 hours, you're kind of skirting the edge of water poisoning!I have been going to the gym for quite a while and I'm happy with my progress but today while I was working out, this FF PT approached me and asked me not to drink too much water (3 liters of water in that two hours) and eat (I hit the gym for 2 hours and I eat a quarter of a banana every half an hour) as he said that it would slow down my progress. QUOTE(angrydog @ Apr 29 2010, 12:43 PM) =P Actually i can drink around 2 large mineral water bottles within 2 hours while working out. But eating a banana every 15 mins is bad. The body can't focus on working out and digestion at the same time. I've had people telling me they don't experience sufficient pumps in their workouts. Main reason could be the source of carbs and nutrient timing. Which is why supps like NO-Explode are always advised to be taken on an empty stomach. Or you could mix a scoop of whey or a teaspoonful of BCAA's with some glucose in a shaker and sip it continuously throughout your workout. I suppose this means I should eat more pre-workout right? What's your preworkout like? |

QUOTE(darklight79 @ Apr 29 2010, 12:55 PM) Or you could mix a scoop of whey or a teaspoonful of BCAA's with some glucose in a shaker and sip it continuously throughout your workout. Sadly, I have not been taking whey for a long time (5 months) but I'm saving to gather enough funds for it.What's your preworkout like? 12.30 PM Lunch - Toufu + Chicken + french beans + small rice [outside in college, can't cook] 4.00 PM 4 egg whites + 1 banana 5.30 - 5.45 I'll be at the gym. [3 liters water + 1 banana] Any advice on where I should tweak? It's not the lack of energy that I suffer from, I can still continue but it's the gastric juice that stops me. Rather than water, would you recommend glucose + water? I have to admit I got the banana idea from watching tennis @angrydog, I have a 500 ml bottle of 100 Plus or gatorade after my workout. My mom also is afraid of me getting water poisoning but I just can't stop drinking water. I mean, I sweat a bucket. I have to change shirts and underwear during my workout, that's how bad it is. EDIT: I forgot to mention, I try my best to hit the gym at 5.30-5.45 but sometimes if I am unable to do so, I'll go after breakfast. 6.30 AM - 2 egg whites + 1 bowl of oats 8.00 AM Gym [same diet, 3 liters + 1 banana] In case if that has an effect. You should pm angrydog for advice about a non supplementation diet. The guy has made amazing gains without using any sort of supps whatsoever. But one thing i can say is your breakfast and preworkout quantity ain't enough.12.30 PM Lunch - Toufu + Chicken + french beans + small rice [outside in college, can't cook] 4.00 PM 4 egg whites + 1 banana 5.30 - 5.45 I'll be at the gym. Okay, I'll try to eat more pre-workout.
Last two questions: 1) Would Gatorade or 100 Plus slow down my progress? 2) Would you recommend Glucose + water rather than plain water during workouts? Thanks. |

QUOTE(kobe8byrant @ Apr 29 2010, 01:15 PM) Okay, I'll try to eat more pre-workout. There are varying opinions on this. Milos Sarcev doesn't agree to a trainee taking just glucose alone. He said glucose with protein. As to question 1, don't think so. Tried it before seemed ok.Last two questions: 1) Would Gatorade or 100 Plus slow down my progress? 2) Would you recommend Glucose + water rather than plain water during workouts? Thanks. |

Actually you need to eat a LOT more. 2 eggs preworkout, even if you eat 2 full eggs is definitely not enough.Last two questions: 1) Would Gatorade or 100 Plus slow down my progress? 2) Would you recommend Glucose + water rather than plain water during workouts?
