If getting G2 might as well get EP1 or GF1, G2 is not much smaller than D5000... Picture quality also i bet will be almost the same with GF1/EP1

@ bro walikard

Here you go: http://www.ecam.com.my/shop/product_info.php?products_id=605

The price listed there is fixed. I went YL Photo and got it at RM170. Really nice. Even though there is a flower pattern, I don't think its girlish at all.

I've also been told by the online retailer that the E-PL1 will get more accessories like half case and all.

They also have some E-P1 & E-P2 accessories. As you can see in the web I've given some of the products uses the E-Px as the model.

Gordy straps earned a very good reputation.

But then, a few problems.

1- I can't see it for myself before I make any purchase

2- Non-adjustable length

3- I don't have the patience to wait.

haha.

Just in case you never noticed, he is using E-PL1 which is different from the way E-P1 & E-P2 attaches to the strap.

The Gordy strap might looks better on the two rather than on the E-PL1.

What's the manual way you're referring to, and how easy do you want? You can always use Lightroom to import, apply some basic settings and export (convert to Jpeg) in batch - not sure if that's "auto" or "manual" for you.

Anyway, for GF1 users I've found a guide to tune the white balance and film mode to make the out-of-camera Jpeg output to be closer to the punchier output from Olympus Pen series.

That's right, the main purpose is to improve the output from GF1 to look more natural, and in some way, contrasty.

First is the white balance thing, after adjusting the AWB it gives you a warmer feel which is to counter-act the cooler feel (which makes the photo looks flat) that GF1 gives by default. Second is the film mode, the author changed the default to Vibrant (high contrast and saturation), but reducing contrast and saturation value by 1. However it still makes the photo looks punchier than the Std more tongue.gif

I've read a few tunings here and there, but still need to play around with the settings haha. Adjust own WB, auto doesn't work that well sometimes. And also sometimes the output from the LCD screen doesn't match what I see on the PC screen. Is it monitor not calibrated? Or the GF1's LCD just too bright. hmm.gif

thanks bro.

frankly, this camera really easy to use for a newbie like me (PNS user but want something different with easy configuration but better quality picture while don't want carry a big camera around).

So far still play with the default mode. hehhe gona read and practise more.

btw, feel bit regret ..hehe din take EP1 /EP2 cos the popup flash doesn't seems useful for me cos may buy it if really needed blush.gif and money can be spent for higher ISO...

No regrets other than the lack of AF assist light on my E-PL1.

During the weekends.. I went to molest cameras... 550D, GF1 and E-PL1. Already using a S90 and FZ28... so a bit hesitant as to whether it's the right route.

If you want to be pro get 550D, light-pro GF1, casual E-PL1, but then you already got S90 why casual again? Just my 2 cents tongue.gif

Don't get me wrong... I love my S90 to death but both my cameras lacking a narrow DoF and a dslr is too much of a commitment. *sigh*

No built in flash for E-P2.

I strongly recommend E-PL1. I was in your shoe before I decided to get the E-PL1 instead of the E-P1 and E-P2.

I did a "cam whoring" with my wife & baby. hehe. So no problem for self potrait (cam whoring style). If you are talking about self potrait in a studio like situation. No problem, just put on tripod and set the timer. BUT, E-PL1 cannot use remote.

Assuming you are using the kit lens, I would say that in low light its hard to get a usable picture.

One way is to use higher ISO. Other than that, comes the pancake. haha

Feel crying under low light cry.gif . Can't even get focus (Perhap update firmware later may help). Higher ISO produces high noise and too reddish.

Can be very subjective, depending how you shoot it, what aperture, shutterspeed, ISO, handheld or tripod, IS on/off, etc etc. smile.gif

The bottom-line is, f3.5-5.6 kit zoom lens is not easy for shooting in low light condition... There are workarounds - either you use flash, or go for high ISO (suitable for B&W), or you need to use a tripod

Hi,
Few questions.

1. Can I use olympus PEN compatible flashes with the GF1?
2. Can I use the EP-2 EVF on the GF1?
3. Has anyone tried the Voigtlander 40mm viewfinder with the 20mm pancake? How was it?

thanks smile.gif

pancake often refer to :

17mm F2.8 from Olympus

or

20mm F1.7 from panasonic

nickname of these 2 fixed focal lens because of its size.

With the panny 20mm pancake lens widest aperture (f/1.7) and excessive neon lighting, there's no problem shooting with 1/100s shutter speed and ISO 100 biggrin.gif

Camera: Panasonic DMC-GF1
Exposure: 0.01 sec (1/100)

Camera body will drop with announcement of new models.
Lens seldom drop, or the drop is not significant.

As for learning, google is your best friend or just ask questions here.

Pancake is a prime lens, there's no way to solve it, as bbjslee suggested, go nearer to the subject.

I have both 14-45mm and 20mm, and I find myself using 20mm most of the time due to the light weight nature and poisoning f/1.7 aperture

I'm practically using the 20mm for everything. I don't really miss zooming.

You might want to practice on framing since with proper framing you will get what you need.

Remember that in the past, zoom lenses never existed.

actually based on experience, do you guys recommend GF1 or EPL-1? function n performance wise...

and since it's micro four thirds, does it mean it has the same mount? Olympus can use Pana 20mm 1.7?

Yes the lenses are using the same mount. My E-PL1 is using pana 20mm pancake.

For me, E-PL1 is for those casual users. Like me, I don't see the need to post process my pictures. I like them the way they are. And E-PL1's JPEG output is already great.

As for GF-1, the RAW is great. You will have full customization if you are into RAW & post processing.

I was once in your place and I decided to get the E-PL1 cause it suits my needs more than the GF-1.

So, just go with the one you need.

Dude, this question has been asked million times lol, you can find a lot of comparison reviews online, please Google. icon_idea.gif

GF1 for faster AF performance, higher ISO, faster shutterspeed.

E-PL1 for built-in IS, more art filters, more punch for Jpeg output.

Yes is same mount for both can exchange lenses to use. smile.gif

GF1 is faster due to the pre-AF and using Panny own lens. hmm.gif

@ y_owez

You might want to read the basics of photography. Search for focal length, aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. They will help you a lot.

@ frequency

I am assuming that in Manual mode, you set the shutter speed to be fast. While in the other modes, the shutter speed is slower. That's why you see the camera takes longer to capture. Basically the shutter closes slower in order to capture more light.

Btw, I have custom reset P,M,S mode. it works better now =.=''...

The data list is confusing displaying " No Data" but I choose to reset the both data then it turns ok.

For the movie mode, It works fine after I reselect focus option. It works great now.

You mean the micro four third adapter with a mirror patented by Panasonic to use it as an optical view finder? That's crap, m4/3 is supposed to live without the mirror LOL. doh.gif

Meaning .. it's gonna make a m4/3 back to a DSLR .. LMFAO !!

Refernce:

To improve AF at the expense of making the camera more bulky. shakehead.gif

To encourage myself to shoot more, I've booked a couple of Danbo online (1 big and 1 small):

Maybe end up getting myself a Pana-Leica 45mm f/2.8 macro lens (instead of the planned 7-14mm landscape) in the end  sweat.gif

You mean the micro four third adapter with a mirror patented by Panasonic to use it as an optical view finder? That's crap, m4/3 is supposed to live without the mirror LOL. doh.gif

Meaning .. it's gonna make a m4/3 back to a DSLR .. LMFAO !!

Refernce:
http://43rumors.com/panasonic-patent-shows...hase-detection/

To improve AF at the expense of making the camera more bulky. shakehead.gif
Better explanation here:

well i don't mind slipping it on say for landscape photography where i can get the full 14mm out of my 14-45mm. so i wont have to buy the 7-14. but then, if its cheaper than the lens itself hehe. Using 7-14mm on the adapter will surely be ridiculously wide though. smile.gif

Wait bro .. you are talking about the 0.5x wide angle converter adapter by Olympus right? That's different from Panasonic's patent adapter. tongue.gif

QUOTE
Olympus has also filed a patent to create a 0.5x wide angle converter for OM lenses so that they can be used at their native field of view and aperture, thus an OM 21mm f/3.5 lens when currently used on a M43 camera has a field of view of a 42mm lens, while letting in the equivalent light of a f/3.5 lens and having a depth of field similar to a 42mm f/7 lens, this new wide angle adapter means that this lens will once again have a field of view of 21mm lens and a depth of field of a 21mm f/3.5 but an exposure capability of an f/1.7 lens, and be image stabilised.

Smaller aperture number (bigger aperture opening) means more light coming in. So the camera don't need a longer shutter speed to absorb usable quantity of light.

So yeah, that's normal.

In aperture the smaller the F number, means the bigger the aperture, so shutter speed should be faster. smile.gif

The bigger the F number, means the smaller the aperture, so it will need to have longer shutter speed to allow more light to come in. icon_idea.gif

Finally figure out how to "force" shoot in extreme low light condition (unable to focus, since no LED and infrared to assist focus on M3/4)

1) turn off the face detection
2) use single point focus
3) use C-AF
4) tiak!

Olympus' mirrorless system is proven, and they are already a number of lenses in the Micro Four Thirds line-up (although still lacking). For Sony, it's unproven and you need to wait for at least a couple of months for people to review and may need to wait some time for more lenses to be released.

Anyway, here is my first attempt on Adobe Lightroom partial colouring... comment / criticism welcomed

Guys.
I just went to DSLR in subang parade just now, checking the price for a PEN to replace mine lah. There I found this new SKU for the EPL1 that was really mindboggling:

EPL1+mZuiko 14-42+MMF1+ Zuiko 40-150 = RM3099

Damn tempting wei!

Its a good deal kan, kan?

This kit + panny 20mm = ultimate travel kit man.

Referring to this: http://yamiya.com.my/store/product.php?pro...89&cat=0&page=1

I think you can get better deal elsewhere. I think if you are lucky, you can get at around Rm2.7k.

I found that some (not all) stuff selling on Amazon USA, are much cheaper than those selling in M'sia, even if included with postage fee. Sure is safe to post, but may have warranty issues. rolleyes.gif

Post with those big brand logistic company (UPS,DHL,FedEX) should be safe la. tongue.gif

Why not just ask your friend or family/relatives to help you buy from Malaysia and post over? hmm.gif

You may want to check these two Malaysia online camera shops, shipping policies:
http://www.yamiya.com.my/store/pages.php?pageid=8
http://shashinki.com/shop/shipping.php#Shipping_Policy

Micro four third system's design do not have an optical viewfinder where you can see through to compose your picture, because m4/3 systems are mirror-less. icon_idea.gif

So an electronic viewfinder is created to attach to the system to display the image in the eye piece, this is to function like an optical viewfinder. biggrin.gif

uh god. Now i am at a crossroads.

Get the E-PL1 or the E-P1 again?

i KNOW i am getting the 20mm this time around.

Now i just need to set which body to get.

Also the E-PL1 has that double zoom pack, which is very enticing.

What to do??? sad.gif

But yeah, really contemplating the E-PL1.

Now contemplating pulak - between the 20mm or the 17mm.

Just get the 20mm. Though the 17mm is a bit wider, the faster aperture in the 20mm seems quite a lot.

Quiet day today.

Here is an interesting read that could be useful to those who are considering NX10 and the E-PL1:

Possible to do a bulk on lenses?

It's a shame that NX10 is aggressively boasting their APS-C sensor being bigger and superior than m4/3 sensor, but yet they are unable to prove it with the results.

Good news is its a whole lot cheaper than big oly's. Its an easy to use flash and very direct operation compared to some other flashes, not only are they difficult to master but also difficult to operate. Nissin is one of the best who produces only to a select few, notably Canon and Nikon ONLY!

Just look at the compatibility chart and you will know. Its funny why Olympus was never included all these years up until now.

Bokeh is actually referring to blur part at the foreground of your pic while the subject remain sharp. HDR I am not that sure...but it generally refers to unusual colours involved in a picture. Doesn't look natural, but if properly done, the result would be outstanding.

Nice shots there bro.

is it the filter that made the picture looks a bit dark?

Anyways, my brother got a Nissin flashgun for his d40 and it is actually compatible with the E-PL1.

Good news...for Nissin Flash...
hehhe

"AF Assist beam
In darkness or dim light conditions, the Di466 beams an orange LED light to create a sharp contrast to enable the camera's focus sensor to focus easily on the subject"

this is what I looking for..

if the price RM500 then it is really good buy

Shopping list: 20mm 1.7, nissin flash....kekek zoom lens in lower priority

Yeah that would totally make the E-PL1 suitable for just about anything.

But I'd rather to have an AF Assist accessories only since I prefer to not shoot with flash. Is there such thing?

Walikard has somehow correctly explained what is "bokeh". I think it refers to the part of a picture that is in the 'BLUR', irrespective of whether its in the fore- or background or at the corners, top, side or bottom part of a picture, while HDR (a.k.a. High Dynamic Range) refers to a technique used in photography that expresses the luminances of a subject. Plainly, an HDR picture will show the wide range of intensity levels of a given scene. Just Google it and you will get a quick answer.

In practice, "bokeh" is much much easier to achieve.

Hi faidz85,

One word of caution to all m4/3 users, Please compare carefully before you put that Nissin Di466 for Nikon or Canon on your Panasonic G1/GH1/GF1 or Olympus E-P1/E-P2/E-PL1 as they are two different flashguns! M4/3 cameras uses TTL control while Nikon and Canon uses i-TTL control and E-TTL and E-TTL II respectively. I believe they are incompatible to each other. Better be safe than sorry.

I'm not sure about flashguns as it is my first time using. But when I tried with TTL, the flash never fired. But when I set it to manual power, it can fire.

Congrats if it works! Then again, if you can only use manual, better get those old items or those cheapo flashes, ke ke ke...because a rm500 flash aint worth it Bro.

Just be sure the voltages doesn't spoil your beloved and expensive new toy though.

I am looking for a flash too. And have been waiting for Nissin to make one for M4/3 cameras and it will be here soon. Woohoo!

I have been hunting hi & lo and IMHO, Nissin is cheaper and it offers the same kind of controls like those found on big guns. Oly's m4/3's flash didn't even come close to Di466, in terms of price and performance. I think this unit matches well with PEN or Panasonics m4/3.

Way to go Bro, that's right. That's the one. Yep, its a bit smallish for a DSLR but just right for a m4/3 or 4/3.

Well, i visited one of our local shops here in KK to have a 1st hand feel of the e-pL1 which i did (great camera & already thinking of getting one) and along the way he asked if I already had a flash and I said I am still hunting. He recommended Nissin Di466 and he further said the unit will be in store sometime end of this month and shud be priced around rm500. Seems like a loooong wait...ha ha

Hey bro may I ask, E-PL1 has a built-in flash already, why u need an extra flashgun for? I dunno maybe you take a lot of indoor, night portraits, remote flash and stuff? Just asking lah hehe, I think is better for bounce flash. tongue.gif

BTW, the My Rig and My Gadget below all my posts, are called Signature. You can click in the My Controls, at the forum menu bar, then look at the left column, you see Edit Signature. You can put in text or links or pictures. But make sure you follow the rules. icon_idea.gif

the viewfinder (evf-2)is veeeery bright bro, really amazing! yep, no built-in flash so that,s why I needed a new flashgun. i combo the ep2 with pany 20mmf1.7, so to be able to shoot in low light quite well. also bough a few old lenses to play-play. Its amazing the huge number of lenses you can slap on your m4/3 camera.

ooh ya, pany 20mm on ep2 look so handsome, really well matched. last nite, just got the new f/w for ep2 & pany 20mm. The auto focusing is noticeably much faster and snappy. Tried a number of shots just under fluorescent light & its much faster than before. maybe the new f/w has done some magic to both the cam & lens.

True, I noticed that the auto focusing is much faster but havn't checked on the jpeg output and auto WB yet. Maybe I 'll do that tonite. Steve Huff (www.stevehuffphotos.com) has done a good 'real world' review of epL1 and he also found that the o.o.cam jpeg from epL1 (IQ) has surprised him so much that he believed that it's perhaps the best jpeg cam out there right now! Woohoo! Now ep2 also has the same IQ.

seriously the sone nex look so ugly..

the pros i can think of is:-

1. slighly better noise performance at iso800 and above
2. metal kit lens
3. metal body
4. cheap price

the cons are:-

1. cannot put larger flash..and use propriety port...so cannot mount their bigger dslr flash. no flash hotshoe..
2. cannot AF when mount with existing sony lens even with an adapter
3. is the only camera where the lens bigger than the body. i am talking about E mount lens. not proportional and i doubt the weight distribution is even with lens mounted on it.
4. no build in body IS.
5. panorama mode got lot of artifacts according to cnet review
6. Across most of the frame (especially the corners of course), softness and chromatic aberration are appalling (based on imaging resource sample image)
7. no control dial to switch setting fast.. like change shutter speed or aperture
8. ugly
9. i dont see any slot for electronic viewfinder..
10. no build in camera raw editing like ep1 ep2 and epl1

was looking forward to jump ship to sony mirrorless..really dissapointing...
fail big time..hoping canon n nikon can do a better job with their upcoming mirrorless camera..

seriously the sone nex look so ugly..

the pros i can think of is:-

1. slighly better noise performance at iso800 and above
2. metal kit lens
3. metal body
4. cheap price

the cons are:-

1. cannot put larger flash..and use propriety port...so cannot mount their bigger dslr flash. no flash hotshoe..
2. cannot AF when mount with existing sony lens even with an adapter
3. is the only camera where the lens bigger than the body. i am talking about E mount lens. not proportional and i doubt the weight distribution is even with lens mounted on it.

Just to add

Pros:
- Good high ISO handling (on par with PEN)
- APS-C sensor
- High resolution screen

Cons:
- BIG zoom lens
- Not really useful tiltable screen

Google "M42 to Micro 4/3 adapter" and you should see a lot of results OR try ebay. Good luck!

I beg to differ.... if I were to choose, I might choose Sony. The high ISO is really great. And the
pancake wideangle is awesome size:

No doubt it looks awful with a small body with big lens.

I still remember when they took out a few units for us to test and feel it in our hands. I actually laugh and say that it is freaking weird.

And it seriously doesn't feel right in my hand. If I am not mistaken the unit I get hold of is the 18-55mm lens.

dont mislead newbie la..high iso is the last thing to look for in photography... aiyo...u can put statement like high iso is important to you but not photography..

how many magazine cover shoot at more than iso 800? zero?
how many usable sharp shots can you produce at iso 3200 in a bad light environment where most area is dark? 5 out of 100 shots taken?

flash is created for a reason and if a camera do not have basic hot shoe to take external flash and have to rely on the non std sony flash which only god know can bounce or not..then is a turn off and no no...

i would beg to differ ..i will wait for canon/nikon FF mirrorless camera !!

Sony NEX + 16mm pancake seems like a good toy to play play. With larger lens-18-55mm zoom kit it looked awful, so try imagine coupling it with still larger lens..no no...

I 'll stay with trusty Oly ep2 until something similar came along.

I notice that with filter it is either soft or out of focus.....

To make sure, you can do manual focus... using 10x magnification and try to focus as best as possible...

then you know if put in the filter causing soft or due to out of focus (because got filter).

I don't think so lor... for notebooks (which I'm more familiar) at least... they all consume the same power.

What's true is that higher resolution screens cost more money. Now that the NEX (the bigger high res screen, the bigger sensor) is out, it quite obvious now that the margins on the M43 is pretty high.

i think it depends on the spec of the LCD. Nowaday, every laptop PC using LED backlight LCD... so consume very low power....

So Olympus should get backlight LED LCD to their m43...with higher resolution of course...

Agree with both sniper and gogo2... D90 LCD got 920,000 pixels and yet the battery life lasts longer than GF1 (yes, with live view on), so it's definitely an area that M43 cameras need to improve

Rival to Panasonic G and GH series from NEX:

Attached Image

Full manual control
1080p@60
1080p@24
720p@120fps and 60p
Revised sensor design (better ISO noise control???)

Wow, I mean, if you're fully NEX user, you can have a pro body with super tele / UWA lens..

while having a small body for partying with wideangle lens!!!

Then, when video is needed, slapped the same lens to your E-Mount body handycam like below:

I think Sony E mount has the most revolutionary mirrorless system I've ever heard... (aside from the stupid Ricoh GXR stupid system).

The great thing is many people thought I'm still shooting film when I'm with my E-P1+17mm+VF...  tongue.gif

*
bigger screen and higher resolution would not consume more power?

GF1 vs E-P2

alright. come to a conclusion. i will get GF1.
between GF1 bundled with 14-45 for 549 quid and E-P2 with 14-42 for 899 quid
the extra 350 quid for small improvement on quality, i aint digging it.
i will just settle with GF1 and with that extra cash i will get some extra acc.

I don't agree with the "win hands down" verdict...

First of all, the image quality wise they aren't that big different - people think e-p2 one is better because of it's Out-of-camera JPEG (GF-1 raw is good, and its white balance and colour can be tuned to make the JPEG look closer to E-P2)

And GF-1 wins in term of AF Speed, Screen resolution, built-in flash, menu, built quality (compare to E-PL1) and weight... The only attractive feature from Olympus that I'm really missing is its In-body image stabilizer and the viewfinder

based on that price, E-P2 is seriously overpriced. But I would get E-PL1 though tongue.gif because
IBIS to me is very important.

But I see that you're better off with GF1 since you don't want to consider E-PL1...

no need to reasearch.

You choose based on this criteria:

a) GF1 --> faster AF speed (contribute to photo taking) with flash
b) E-P2 --> better build quality and looks retro (does not contribute to photo taking) and IBIS without flash
c) E-PL1 --> cheapest and best quality picture with IBIS but bad build with flash

Easy to choose. If wanna cheap one and good result with IBIS, get E-PL1.

More people will choose GF1 especially pro photog due to responsiveness like dSLR.... but no IBIS...potong markah..

E-P2 is...erm.. if u like the look..

as in panny can only get from lens

so its like u can use panny IS lens on oly ibis cam that offers double stabilization (i suppose?)
but not the other way around laugh.gif

Only one will work, haven't used a ep2 with pany lens with IS capable. But I remember reading somewhere that the cam's system will be confused and your shot may not be accurate and may turn out blurry. So its best to turn off one.

exactly what may happen i dont know. thats why you are recommended to turn off IS when tripod mountd.
likewise, better use only either one of the IS or otherwise, the system may introduce unwanted blur.

The only reason to get EP-2 over D90 is size. Else, just get D90 for better photography tools..

As far as I remember there were only 2-3 booths actually selling lens filter

It's in the area selling bags, sigma lenses, accessories etc, shouldn't be too hard to find

Good for low light AF lock issue as well (No AF Assist- I need this)

hehehe tomolo ll go for a look....but wait..how bout panny 20mm?

anyone can confirm AF assist light will come out when using Olympus M43? I read before that
Olympus m43 will never have AF assist (that's why can't use AF assist of Olympus flash...)

eh, you sold all your stuff? the zoom lens is 40-150mm right? i think the reach not enough..haha..
but with free adapter, its quite worth it. Maybe can sell off 40-150mm and get 70-300mm like me.. tongue.gif

size should be almost the same. But I believe G2 with EVF and stuff will be easier to handle for greater photography

i use 14-42 kit lens for e-p2..

1. select scene mode
2. choose panorama
3. set focal to 25mm (we need to choose the least barrel distortion setting..at 14 is wide but the distortion also greater..)
4. shoot from left to right
5.go back open olympus viewer 2 (f.o.c)
6. Choose panorama function and select the foto u have taken.
7. click stitch
8. crop out unwanted stuff
9. mission accomplish..

Not sure if its the same R or not because it is wireless:
QUOTE
DUAL PROGRAM WIRELESS REMOTE FLASH
The wireless remote flash system of Di466 works for either analogue (single flash) and digital (pre-flash) flash systems. Variable power in six steps is available.
Place the Di466 off the camera and the flash synchronizes with the master flash placed on your camera. This wireless remote flash system is called slave flash technology and is often used for a creative lighting efficiency.
Use the camera's built-in flash, the manufacturer's original flash, or Di466 as the master flash. Place one or more Di466 flash units away from the camera.
Off-camera flash photography offers a different lighting configuration.
Use multiple Di466 flash units to achieve professional flash techniques.

Jst pre-ordered the olympus leather brown bag. Can't find elsewhere cheaper than yamiya (RM159) retail bout RM250.

Shall I keep the Di466? Hmmm...since oledi burnt the $. Still no time test for portrait with external flash.

Still funding for the 20mm 1.7 fast lens to complete my goals. hehehe.

so now no sharpness complain already? kekeke...

Hope you enjoy your leather brown bag....

I think you should keep Di466 since you already buy it. Very useful if plan to do wireless flash photography and
bounce flash... its really nice one...

if you own a house, probably you would have already some form of Household Insurance covering your personal effects (electronics etc), just check with your agent if your equipment is covered or not. Other wise, your agent should be able to provide a fresh new coverage for it. Just make sure the premium isn't too high, or else its not worth it.

Try this one, looks like they provide coverage for digital cameras:

ORIX

A few days earlier a few taiko went for DCIM 2010 and got some Nissin flash. Nissin Di466 really look good on m4/3 cams because of its size. Here are the link to that page: Nissin Di466 fo m4/3 and 4/3 cameras

household insurance like shit one..i ask them before..if i insure my SLR n lens..which cost rm30k
let say one day touch wood get stolen..so how they are going to pay me..
they mention based on second hand market value..then i ask them for olympus what is the 2nd hand market value..and what is the benchmark to determine the market value..the insurance agent was like err err 2nd hand value lo..

it means happy they give me maybe 50% of the actual value you insured but slr is not like car...my lens is 3 years old but does not mean it will depreciate more than 60%.. so is all marketing gimmick..come to payment they all sure give a lot of grandma story..

True enough, but try ORIX, I was told they accept insurance covering electronic gadgets. The other 1 that I just came to know is Takaful, who covers such items under their 'All-Risk' products. No harm checking.

You can't blame those companies (i don't work for them and dont get paid) but try to see from their perspective you will understand, as electronic gadgets are "high-risk" items, just like mobile phones. The minute you leave them on the table somewhere inside a fast-food outlet of a shopping complex, they are gone almost instantly, like magic! This is because they are high value yet small pocketable items, easily taken without being noticed. There you go.

They have mixed up with product pricing,in which
Olympus Leather Carry All Bag for Pen Digital Camera (Brown) was previously listed as RM158 yesterday.

But after 2 days my order was placed, they sent me an email stated it was their mistake they mix up the picture and pricing.

Of course, I am looking for refund. (Actually I think I can do more..)

Frequency, really sorry your deal didnt go through. I was hoping to hear your comment on this bag.

Anyway, i just got a bagman camera bag for Rm133

http://www.bagmangear.com/productslist.asp...3ECamera%20Bags

I got the large size which is 20cm Height, 16cm width. Has a compartment on one side. I added a cover/lid halfway down the other open compartment to make a 2nd compartment below. My Oly now sits on top of these compartments with the lense facing down.

Now there is enough space for another 2 lenses, bat charger and an extra bat

Yeah man ... Yamiya does have mistakes on their descriptions ... I saw a lens with 2 years warranty, but after I email them to confirm .. they said no it's only 1 year, and then they corrected the description LOL shocking.gif

Moral of story, always double check with them to confirm la .. they do reserve the right to change without prior notice (if stated in T&C). tongue.gif

Last year my company bought two lappies from Dell Malaysia, forgot what model and spec. Story is something like this, they ordered CPU C2D 2.66GHz, but after 1+ month didn't come, so they called Dell, reason no stock for CPU. Then ask if can accept lower CPU 2.00GHz, but then no refund. doh.gif

I think due to handshake.

e-pl1 is quite cheap now. Good deal. But since there's NEX from Sony, Panasonic and Olympus is coming out with new model very soon.
Stay tune. But really, if u need camera now, E-pl1 is good. Else, wait... or u can see see NEX...

yeah i also suspect it was due to handshake or cos shutter speed issnt fast enuff and if with enuff lightning, it will have no such problem... and indoor shooting with normal lighting issnt great good too.. unless i use the flash.. then everything will be nice.. but i dun like use built in flash which will make the photos become very fake or too bright.. anyway i have not got any external flash yet.. i think my LX3 also can do the same in that way.. yet cannot deny, when GF1 shoot a sharp image, the detail is kinda good and better than LX3..

u r right..i need body stabilizer now! so that i can tried out any lens without worry! tongue.gif hmm.gif i still more towards olympus due to its colour production! rclxms.gif hopefully tis time i wont make a wrong choice again... smile.gif

hmm...oly colour is really saturated ..! i lov it.. GF1 colour is just a bit too 'real'.. and shooting human will make his face become too chocolate and dark..wont look nice.. but in some situation, its really good to have natural colour .. blush.gif

flash is very important.... especially indoor...
with the built in flash, it's sometimes too harsh and fake...
you can work around by putting a diffuser in front...

The reason we need external flash is because we can do flash bounce, fire the flash to wall or ceiling and bounce
back to your subject... that way, it'll be very nice... looks real.. not too harsh...

There's more usage of external flash... but u can start by using ur internal flash correctly... but if you have the budget,
get a bigger flash like Metz 48 which is cheaper than FL-50r... smile.gif

hmm...oly colour is really saturated ..! i lov it.. GF1 colour is just a bit too 'real'.. and shooting human will make his face become too chocolate and dark..wont look nice.. but in some situation, its really good to have natural colour ..  blush.gif

Too chocolate and dark ? Maybe wrong WB ? With some color refining .. it should be ok. hmm.gif

But the truth is GF1 does product more natural color overall. wink.gif Most people said you need to shoot RAW and PP to get the best out of it. doh.gif

Thanks for the info.
Temporary now can't afford such expensive flash. What about Nissin DI622?

dun have Nissin di622 for m43 camera.. only lower range di466 which is quite good... coz can bounce also... shot
to shot also fast... coz 4 battery... and its small enough for m43 camera.... and di466 also have wireless... great
stuff if u plan to utilize flash for off the body shooting.. u go and google wireless flash and stuff... its fun!!!

metz48 and fl-50r is large... not really compatible with m43.. tongue.gif

Yeah, I know, I never tried shooting RAW, only done slightly color, contrast and WB tuning for some pictures. tongue.gif

Yeah .. now I've learn the settings on GF1 itself, I get much better result compared to earlier times when I just started using. thumbup.gif

i agree with u..maybe i am lazy to pp photos especially if after one trip, then come back with lets say 1000 photos.. and also have to match each type of situtation and surrounding to adjust it again.. really lots of works to do..especially so tired after coming back ..so i think olympus colour is still my taste.. i saw some sony nex photos..a bit better than gf1's natural..but still cant match the olympus.. my heart still with oly..especially the epl1 twin lens kit tongue.gif.. may i know wat is the cheapest price now for that package?
