Basic steps needed in order to change/upgrade ur ram:
1. we will be using 2gb ddr2 ram here & the price for 2gb stick will be rm165.
2. any brand will do as long it is ddr2 800mhz.
3. shut down the netbook and remove the battery.
4. at the battery compartment, there are 2 visible orange clips. gently push them upwards.
5. this will create a small opening thus open the whole piece of the back cover tediously.
6. press gently on the ram stick bracket at both corners.
7. if there's any doubts in my guideline, do not hesitate to let me know.

What I don't like with this netbook is the weak battery life. 3 cells can't last even 3 hours I think.

And also the netbook is a fingerprint magnet. The front and even the back is all full of fingerprint.

If there's a guide on how to upgrade the RAM, do let me know.

imo, for around 1k+ slightly, the Asus 1001P would be a better option

- 11hours batt (6 cells)
- matte screen
- one of the highest contrast ratio screen (same screen as 1005HA)

cons:
- win xp(well if it's considered a lowdown)
- 160gb, no bluetooth (wondering y there's no 250gb version here)

probably why there would be many users of this Hp210 is because of those sellers letting go theirs from the streamyx package

1001P is design for tight budget consumer. lower HDD capacity & no BT is normal(Comparable to HP 210 which selling RM1349). Besides Asus also has 1005P which has win 7S/250GB/BT..

I think it's a fail design. How many times the cursor will run to the left because you wanted to click the button.

Yes, not a problem. No format is necessary if you wish to upgrade only. Just buy the retail key and upgrade.

WWAN is possible. You may need to hack the computer's BIOS if the WWAN card isn't expected for HP mini.

Hey, if you guys take off the battery, there is a slot there.
What slot is that for actually?

Internal 3G modem?

That is the slot for SIM card. The slot for WWAN cards that I've been mentioning. I believe that there is nothing in that slot if you open your Mini. I haven't opened it up so I can't be sure.

That slot can either be used for WWAN or Broadcom HD.

Seems like almost all HP Mini 210 owners got it from TM promotion ...

Nope. There are retail version of HP Mini 210. Notable by:
1. 6 cell battery
2. Better keyboard
3. Borderless glass screen

@ mengsuan : How to upgrade the RAM..? Since yours is also from TM, I guess you know how the underside looks like, right?

mini 210 only have 1 slot for ram meaning if we were to replace with a 2gb stick den where to campak the 1gb stick?

Remove battery, push the 2 orange tabs, then firmly pry the back cover open. You can access the RAM compartment easily.

Me too not sure what to do, but after I received my 210, I upgraded it to 2gb (800mhz), reformat it to windows7 ultimate, and whilst searching for the drivers online, I found a folder named "SwSetup" (it wasn't there before) in C which contains the necessary drivers and the softwares that you can use. I'm not too sure how it got there And my HP recovery partition is gone. Been using Dell for all my entire life and this is the first time I'm using HP

ps. the HP's Quickweb is a smart little app that lets you surf the internet, listen to music without booting up the windows, and I'm liking it. Yes I am a slowpoke tqvm.

You will be using HP recovery tool to restore to factory settings. Hence no driver CD. If you choose not to use recovery method, you can still download drivers from HP website.

If relying on the recovery in our hardisk, wouldnt it be dangerous when our hardisk failed?

I faced this problem while using IBM previously. Cost me RM350 to get the CDs from IBM that time.

This is what MS wants you to think.

The screen is not cracked and sometimes it shows up after 1-2 minutes of booting up.

HP Mini 3 cells battery version is only retail at RM1100?
I just knew that. So the price i bought from another forumer is not that cheap.

6 cells version is more expensive by around another RM300.

The HP recovery tool will prompt you to make recovery CD in case of HDD failure. I've ignored the warning because I'm lazy.

Yeah, the TM version is only RM1100. If I'm able to make an optional purchase, I would opt for the 6 cell retail version. Comes with better screen, keyboard, and the palm rest area is smooth finish.

for netbook i think they wont ask u to burn into cd unless u have an external dvd rom
u guys can try save it in ur thumbdrive and use it to format ur netbook in future.

ok so let me summarise for anyone who's asking this: Is the netbook given by TM the same as reatil ones?

Answer: No. Retail cost Rm1300.00, BUT the one given by TM shud cost around RM 1100.00


Difference: Retail: Got 6 cells battery, Got better screen (in what way not reli sure), got better keyboard( i guess it must be the chic-let type for retail), and smooth finish palm rest.

The retail unit screen is glossy borderless glass screen. You've got it right for the keyboard.

Anyway, AFAIK the netbook from TM should have 2 year warranty. I have received an email from HP yesterday informing me of the warranty status. The warranty would end May 2011. That's about 1 year and 1 month. Why so?

i guess the one by TM one is also using chiclet type keyboard. But maybe it's not that raisen up so you actually dont notice the difference between the normal flat type keyboard.

If that's the case, they must have deliberately made ours uglier.

If you notice, when you remove your battery from the slot, there is a sticker stating 1-year warranty from HP..... I highly think it is 1 year warranty and not 2 years.

TM might made a mistake in the brochures.... Anyone clarified from TM?

Because I need to sent my netbook for service after 1 day only.Not really sure what I need to do.

My company purchased win7 ultimate for their execs, so I got a couple of dvds that I can use + the keys.

I changed from win7 starter to ultimate because of its flexibility and functions. I really don't like the limited starter edition

Yeap the drivers and softwares are there preinstalled, everything was OK except for the arcsoft webcam companion software which has expired...lol

Since it was mentioned that 1073TU was bundled with TM's promo, so does that mean that TM has actually ordered quite a large sum of the said laptops, for HP (Or any company) to specially customize one..

From the pics, tpl HP Mini exterior seems to be the same like those given by TMnet. Not difference. Keyboard also the same.

Really feel cheated with the fake chic-let keyboard.
And the weak battery life.

Battery life is a problem. I did not bring my power supply with me to college today and I run into dead batteries by noon. With minimum brightness, I could only get about 3.5 hour on average.

The official HP runtime for 6 cell battery is 9.5 hours. Enough for an entire day of lecture, unplugged.

I prefer your screen though. True anti-glare. Mine stated anti-glare but with the shiny plastic on it makes it so reflective minus one point here.

Haha. I have already placed screen protector on it after shooting the picture. So it's now glossy.

not sure how true is that. I haven't test the battery yet. From unboxing last nite the battery remains 49% able to last about 2.5hours before battery warning starts at 12% with many hdd loads/ restarts/ install programs etc with wifi & bluetooth on screen brightness 60%. i think in real life usage can last for abt 6hours with wifi on n 50% brightness?...

Are there any assumptions? Like idling for 9.5hours?

Or using MS Word for 9.5 hours?

Or Solitaire?

btw i must say this mini210 is so much faster than my former sony p15g equipped with z530, 64gb ssd, 2gb ram. Disabling aero/startup prgs/indexing doesnt help either on vista or win7beta. This mini210 run smooth out of the box.

No matter how you idle a 3 cell HP mini 210, it cannot exceed far from 4 hour.

My screen resolution is at the very minimum when I'm on battery.
I going to apply a skin to the body soon.
Too many fingerprint on the glossy surface.

Come to think of it, isn't 95 hours a tad bit too ambitious?
