QUOTE(Evangel @ Mar 29 2010, 10:00 PM)
I agree that consumers in Malaysia doesn't have the same power as other countries. But, we should try. I always advocate fighting for your rights. So, if there are enough people boycotting or providing feedback to the Telco, then, we might make a difference.

We should consider the income of the majority in Malaysia with regards to pricing of any broadband service.

(Sorry for making my replies in one big chunk. Figuring out now)

anyone know any politicians we can contact/email regarding the issue? might help in getting our voices heard even louder

It is possible it was just a mistake. The package graphics seems to have been changed and someone may have confused with the BIZ package details which are 5sen/min. Anyway, it is correct now.

Added on March 31, 2010, 12:34 pmoo just thought id let u guys know my astro canceled already. we think RM135 a month is too pricey for the amount of time that we spend on it

we think terrestrial TV offerings and other news and international channels from TM are good enough for us smile.gif

Dear Unify Team,

Hi Unify Team,
I would like to express my view on your new Unifi packages.

My view and may other Malaysians' view is that your packages are preposterously expensive and misguided. Malaysia is a low income country and with packages ranging from Rm149-RM249 per month for 24 months is nothing short of price gouging.

Gross National Income Comparison 2008
Malaysia
GNI per capita, Atlas method (current US$) 6,970

Australia
GNI per capita, Atlas method (current US$) 40,350

Singapore
GNI per capita, Atlas method (current US$) 34,760

ADSL 2+ Broadband Comparison (2010)
Malaysia
TM (ISP) - RM249/month with 120GB cap at max 10Mbps

Australia
TPG (ISP) AUD49.99 (RM150 approx.) with 130GB cap at max 24Mbps
http://tpg.com.au/products_services/adsl2plus_pricing.php

Singapore
M1 (ISP) S$42.90 (RM103 approx) with UNLIMITED at max 15Mbps
http://www.m1.com.sg/M1/site/M1Corp/menuit...ate:1003291501

Thailand
TrueOnline (ISP)  4Mbps (RM60 approx) with Unlimited and 16Mbps (RM220 approx with unlimited.
http://www.trueonline.com/th/highlight.aspx

Absolute Failure of Telekom
From the simple data above, we can see that Malaysians are getting the short end of the stick. With only US$6970 GNI per capita per year, Malaysians are paying RM150 more than the closest neighbour, Singapore. The disparity is even worse when compared to Australia, which is known for its expensive broadband.

Telekom as the monopoly, should have the resource to provide services at a lower price. The only reason prices are so high for broadband is PROFIT GOUGING. There is no other reason for it.

Malaysia's cost of labour is at least 6 times LOWER than Australia and Singapore. How can Telekom justify the price for broadband to be RM100-RM150 more expensive than the other 2 countries? The need for installation of fiber in the home is insignificant when you consider labour cost in Australia is AUD25 (RM75) per hour.

On a side note, implementation of the caps is not necessary, worrying about torrent which affected Tmnet Bandwidth should throttle by hardware or software with limited bandwidth instead  affected SOHO user like me working at home transfers huge file within KL/Singapore/Hong Kong, if you implement caps, how could i transfer and download photoshop files which taken up 5-10GB everyday.

Furthermore for Video Conference, It would totally goes so slow and unable to use after been caps.

I am more than happy to discuss this with you but I know, in Malaysia, Telekom does not have the reputation to engage its customers.

Regards,

Well, i send this, but i tweak a bit.

IINM TM did join the bidding for WC2010 screening rights here, and lost. As we all know Astro got it.

Maybe someone else can confirm this?

yeah its true silver, i think we need someone to send an email to them, or maybe all of us send an email to them and ask them to put more channel into the IPTV. as for me my housemate dont want to apply this hsbb because there is no sport channel and also Learning TV like National GEO, History and etc. if have those we will change since i and my friend use internet for only gaming and download. some of them watching sport and Nat Geo.

comes guys. let send an email to them regarding this... or maybe they have read from here and try to take an action to add more channel?

Taka.

yeah, astro got the channel for sport and astro only can broadcast it sweat.gif

why no tech/com based channels? the channel selection in their iptv package is imo, weird.
