The reason why it may reduce the downloads among us is because of IPTV. But again if you insist on downloading then its not for you. Its simple as that. I'll give it a go , suppose if TM still can't deliver high speed broadband then its a failure !

comes with a 2 year contract... so it's not as easy as "ill give it a try" for most of us. gotta put a lot of thought before pulling the trigger. perhaps 4mbps streamyx is a better deal after all

So basically they accept that users are greedy, bring them in then don't satisfy their greed? Now tell me, do they deserve the backlash they are getting? I tell you can get 2 cookies, but give you one, you have the right to complain no?

This is unscrupulous use of marketing, its dishonest and bad business practice. Do you not agree that its unethical for them to do so?
*
that analogy is not accurate. heck, analogies are for people who cannot deliver their points coherently so they rely on analogies. like you.

check a few pages back, a moderator has already explained why line sharing is not illegal and not ethically wrong. in short you as a consumer are NOT paying for a dedicated line, thus the line sharing and when you share you should try to be ethical and not hog the bandwidth.

so shut it already with the cookies, apples or any other analogies you uncreative lot come up with.

Added on March 31, 2010, 12:34 pmoo just thought id let u guys know my astro canceled already. we think RM135 a month is too pricey for the amount of time that we spend on it

we think terrestrial TV offerings and other news and international channels from TM are good enough for us smile.gif

i need my football! cannot cancel astro yet
*
first i thought i needed the sports channels, then i realized that i only watch live Man Utd matches so there are a few options there:

a. those free albeit perhaps illegal online live streaming like PPPstreaming
b. Mamak or MCD

you see... the cost associated with astro's sports channel (RM35+ if im not mistaken) is not worth the money for me and my family. so, cancel~

QUOTE(silverhawk @ Mar 31 2010, 01:29 PM)
If IPTV had good sports channels, you would see people jumping on to subscribe laugh.gif

but i cant deny this smile.gif i know that malaysians love the sports channel smile.gif

Hey, powerfulcool where is your area?
*
I'm staying in Subang. At first wanna try 4mbps streamyx but my line attentuation very high so im sure the line wont be stable as it is now at 1mbps.

QUOTE(sg999 @ Mar 31 2010, 06:13 PM)
60gb become 20gb
dun cry drool.gif

mane ada hehehe.. give TM some credit lah.. eventually everyone needs to jump for FTTH right? even now there's no limit on download per month. i wont push it la, last month i downloaded 100GB only and that's because i bought a new HDD...

so yeah, ill simply be enjoying this service for a longer period compared to you guys hehehe

you guys protest, make the service better, while ill enjoy the ride ok? i dont see how it can be worse than strreamyx for the price; not to mention free phone calls, 10cents/minute to mobile, free IPTV with cheap movies and other shows on demand, and stable 5Mbps internet...

cant beat that... 60GB limit? big deal (and no limit till end of year)

------

tl;dr version: I'm thinking positively, the concerns you lot have is nothing but a small pebble <--- i dont mean it in a bad way, your concerns are valid so long as it applies to you.

I think tmnut is kinda putting you on drugs and let you enjoy for a while then when you're hooked there's no turning back even if they put a 10gb cap or raise the price. tongue.gif

Seriously,i am a bit envy about the speeds and at least i can see how things play out first before considering to subscribe(Q4 here). icon_rolleyes.gif
*
alalala, they are not that stupid le; none of you guys are giving them any credit. at least they responded to the public outcry about the low cap. as of now they will take their time to determine the right amount of cap. im not the least worried, i dont even think 60GB is too little...

QUOTE(BlueWind @ Mar 31 2010, 08:03 PM)
Exactly in which area Subang?

SS19/5B. in front of the shop houses

QUOTE(sniperwolf @ Mar 31 2010, 10:47 PM)
You can always switch to the lower biz5 plan which had no cap is really concern on the bandwidth cap. As I ask the guy in tm point today, he confirm that its ok to do so. Just sign up my vip10 package today.
*

so residental customers can opt for BIZ packages too? confirm?

as of now, without the caps on VIP package, i dont see why anyone would want to register for BIZ unless required by TM smile.gif

Biz package no need company name meh?Company name need money to register also leh...
Even before commercial release there are already beta testers testing out unifi and they can't figure it out during the trial period?

I think this is a marketing ploy to make people subscribe(a very bad one indeed).Give a low cap then ppl complain then take out the cap for a time being to make tons of people to subscribe. After that  do market skimming to milk us with higher prices then only lower the price and implement cap.

Just my 2 cents of course.  hmm.gif
*
not at all. trial period only to root out technical problems. there were only about 120 testers in subang area, dont tell me you expect them to determine usage pasterns from this small a sample.

cap is the way of the future lah, bandwidth is not infinite, if a small percentage of users are using a large majority of bandwidth, it wouldnt be fair to the rest right?

Not everyone have the time to watch IPTV.So it should be consider an optional. The main isn't the cap but it's the price.
Why they wanted to promote 5mb with caps ? if it's highspeed with caps , why not make it 1mb without caps for HSBB ?

We all just want a smooth connection of internet , even 2mb is enough for most of house user even for those download a lot.we just want a smooth internet accessing international website , not like streamyx blocking youtube and etc and even dare to day 20% user take up 80% bandwidth where they can't even upgrade their bandwidth.
*
they wont unbundle it because they spent so much of their money to connect each house. also they want to establish a large userbase to reach a critical mass to compete against Astro. that's why they are giving the decoder for free.

be thankful that they arent charging users anything; when you opted for astro did they charge you for the decoder? they used to, and it was expensive. im not sure how about now.

the statement "20% user take up 80% bandwidth" is true among all ISPs; there's always some a/holes, like, many in this thread, who disregard the need of others to use the bandwidth
