i may be misinformed or probably i didnt do my research but the impression is that panasonic has and still giving malaysians the low end (is this the right word) of the lineup spectrum in terms of spec etc. (well, i guess its the same as in cars and bikes..sigh).

wish 3-5 years down the road, this would change..
*
Truthfully, it is not only Malaysia. The lineup is the same for most South East Asian countries.

As mentioned earlier, if you have no 50" to compare side by side, the quality improves day by day and you'll fell in love with; just like woman.

Which of the new panasonics are least relective? Is the X28 less reflective than the 50U?

No.

So far both the X20 and the U20 share the same panels, the only difference being the fact that one is full HD and the other not.

I don't see any other differences between the 2 panels.

guys,

saw the 50' Plasma display set side by side yesterday at Subang Jaya Carrefour.

The x20k and U20k model. Can't see any diff actually in terms of pq.

FYI

The 50U20K was going for RM4.6k. They have stock ready.

At 50" differences between PQ of 1920 X 1080p HD sources shd be discernible comparing a HD ready and a Full HD set depending on viewing distance. For lower quality feeds, it might be difficult and depends on the quality of the scalar chip in the display. However, if the scalar chip is decent, the 1080p display with pixels closer together shd yield a slightly better and more stable picture. But this depends on both the source and viewing distance.

At 42" it becomes more difficult to see clear differences between a HD Ready and a FullHD panel becoz the pixels are pretty crammed up.

so if buying a 42" plasma tv, FHD or HD ready, it doesn't really matter much right?

i hv decided to go for plasma instead of LCD. going to place the order within these two days. i hv compared these two: panny p42x28k and sammy ps42c451.

- panny's color or should i say "black level" seems a bit better than sammy.
- sammy's features (USB, DD optical output, more things to play around in the setting and adjustment) sure more than panny (SD slot).
- sammy's design is way better than panny.
- sammy's price (about RM100) cheaper than panny.
- both offer 3 yrs warranty with free HDMI cable.

i hv two questions:

1st, panny's black level decreased or hv problems (like those discussed in other threads, cases in the US, etc.) after about 300 hours or a certain period of time?

2nd, sammy's plasma last for long or not? easy to get spare parts for repair or not?

there is one feature in sammy's plasma where you can "wash' the screen to prevent or get away the IR/burn in images. i couldn't find this feature in panny's plasma. hmm.gif

any comment? smile.gif

sorry to barge in, to me the answer to your question is a definite yes. others might disagree though.
