Just found out that even my little HTP-LX61 is using Advanced MCACC  thumbup.gif

Kalido - Seems like you know the difference between MCACC & Advanced MCACC. Can you please shed some light in this topic?  cheers.gif

Another key difference for the M vs the A for the KRP series is the location of the settings for Drive Mode.

In the A it is outside in the Options. What that means is that you can still calibrate in the ISF Modes and set Drive Mode to 2.

In the M series, it is in the Picture Options. Also in ISF Modes the Drive Mode is fixed to 1. That means that we cannot use it for 50Hz stuff.

One of the advantages is for Astro (which needs Drive Mode to be set at 2), you can use the brighter ISFccc modes in conjuction with the Drive Mode for brighter image for the As and this is not so for the Ms.

The brightest u can get with proper gamma tracking on the 600Ms without the ISF modes is 33ft/L with Pure Mode. The brightest you can get with the ISFccc modes with proper gamma tracking in the 600Ms is 48ft/L. Thats quite a difference.

The only option for the people who have Ms for higher light output for Astro or 50Hz material is to use User mode but the gamma and colour errors are not as good as the Pure modes.

The As (KRP500) shd be able to go as high as 50ft/L in ISF modes while still being able to set Drive Mode to 2. Thats plenty bright for sports.

Drive Mode, ISFcc, A & M series, Gamma tracking..... you are a techno party animal! thumbup.gif

Heavy tuning stuff. Many thanks for the comparisons and sharing your knowledge on this rclxms.gif

To those who have purchased the KRP its a waste if u don't get the best of your sets. Its potentials are huge and its performance as a whole unmatched by other fixed pixel displays.

Make the most of it and use it as its meant to be used.

Bro, under Home Menu > Picture > Pro Adjust > Picture Details. Got Gamma selection (1,2,3). Any idea what is Gamma (1,2,3)? Not much info available on the manual.

Different average gamma targets. 1 is about 2.15, 2 is about 2.25 and 3 is about 2.32.

Gamma is set depending on ur room conditions. For room with lots of ambient light (ie daytime, it is better to target a gamma of below 2.2. For HT use with some ambient light, maybe 2.25 and for a room with very good light control 2.35.

That is one of the reasons why Pioneer has the ISF ccc modes, ISFday so that u can adjust for the higher ambient light and ISF night for more serious viewing.

Anfield, here is what I'm doing for Color Calibration for 508XG.

First, I using Color Control to set 21% of Y(100% of White) for Y(Red) and the Tint Control to set the Cyan (x,y). Then, using the CMS to set the (x,y) for RYGCBM as per Rec709 standard. I'm wondering how to set the Y for YGCBM as there is no such control in CMS? Did I missed out anything?

Should I use the 75% Color test patterns, I assume the Y(Red) should refer to the 21% of Y(75% of White), correct?

The CMS in the Kuro is a 2D CMS and not that great. However, the overall colour control acts a universal Y control for all colours. It gets u close enough for all colours.

I would not touch the CMS at all as it induces a non linear greyscale on the 8G Kuros. All the colour points are already < 4 DE1994 and meet the Rec 709 for the colours without touching the CMS. If u r not seeing the accuracy of the colour points , it is inaccuracy of ur probe.

Got it. Thanks.

Now I understand the 3D CMS terms biggrin.gif

Will see if I can get ruler flat type of Gamma plot using Movie Mode on 8G Kuro. rclxms.gif

there's someone under your nose all this time.. whistling.gif

by the way, its so frustating that I cant opened up my newly bought kuro sad.gif wifey said that wait until we moved in to our new house than only can unpacked everything there. as of now, my 428xg also sitting behind the sofa as this house is too packed with stuff (my in-laws house tongue.gif).

Anfieldude, I really am going to need your help on how to calibrate my kuro's once I moved in. Hopefully you can spare a time for a peasant like me icon_question.gif . Meanwhile, I'll just keep on learning on calibration.

8G kuro movie mode gamma is quite flat. ISF mode is slightly better due to to the 9 point gamma calibration. The 9G has a even flatter gamma. Still the 8G is probably better than most displays.

On the colour calbration, use the same stimuli ie. if the colour is 75% then use 75% white. Ur assumption is right, red shd be 21% of the white.

Not so good to put the contact number here as some might 'abuse' it and importantly, have to seek permission before posting. Still, IMHO not that good to post. PM would be better.
