QUOTE(paskal @ May 5 2010, 12:20 PM) that much budget for a pioneer avr will only land you something that's gonna stuck until you sell it off as preout are (currently) only available in the elite series. Hmm.. I hv to say I am completely clueless in this area.. what I hv in my mind like.. I want to buy 2 front speakers.. n whatever thing that we need to connect it at first.. then again, most people are perfectly fine with it as multichannel amps are quite costly to begin with. most (if not all) prefer to dump money to upgrade their speakers, subs, tvs and not take the external amp path. and probably upgrade to buy rear speaker if got the budget.. QUOTE(paskal @ May 5 2010, 06:38 PM) in that case, i think it's wiser to buy a cheap AVR that could do HD Audio and dumping the extra money for speakers and subs. haha! I can sense a lot of truth in that statement... when u say cheap AVR.. which brand u have in mind.. if you wanna upgrade to experience HD Audio (which is the buzz nowadays, be it whether you could hear the difference or not), at least you don't have to sell off the avr. also a media player that don't support HD audio is cheaper. good enough for initial purchase. IMHO it would sound better (overall experience) than buying yourself some expensive AVR that could do everything, but only to plug in some cheap satellite that you pulled off from some broken speaker somewhere; because all the money are already spent on that expensive AVR. only to hit your head to the wall next month when that expensive AVR are phased out from the market for HDMI 1.4 and dolby pro logic IIz and audyssey wide support. causing that expensive AVR to drop 50% in price. but then it's just a personal opinion.. I just use my ps3 to play bluray or any mkv file. do ps3 support HD audio? Added on May 5, 2010, 9:31 pm QUOTE(Alias @ May 5 2010, 03:50 PM) I think for that kind of budget, its possible to get the entry level avr from Onkyo/Yamaha with HD Audio capable. and a pair of good speaker as well, if you know where to find em.. hmm.. mind if u can share with me, where I can find a good place to get this stuff? This post has been edited by opjust: May 5 2010, 09:35 PM |

QUOTE(putih @ May 6 2010, 11:33 AM) Seriously dude? Cheapest HD-audio capable avr I have seen was around rm1800. What brand are you talking about and where can our friend get it? Anyway, that alone has surpassed his budget of rm1500++. hoh! a minimum of 7k!!!! I think if he wants to enter HD HT world, he need a minimum of RM7K. With his budget, he can only go with preowned DD/DTS 5.1 system. because I saw pioneer HT selling at 13++ last time at one of the electrical shop.. cant remember which model... just a normal two stand front speakers and dunno got anything else or not.. Added on May 6, 2010, 5:56 pm[quote=paskal,May 6 2010, 01:22 PM] which version of ps3? i've read that the fat one could output lpcm and the slim one could bitstream. my friend has the slim one and that version confirm could bitstream hd audio to the avr. sometimes good offer could be found in the garage sales, the music section. and you should also also try to ask at hifi shops if there's used unit that people traded to upgrade. okay boss, I'll start search around based on your recomendation.. btw my ps3 is slim one.. when electrical shop advertise PIONEER HT system only 1399 let say for example.. what do they give us? speakers only?
