The Malaysia Model of KRP500A is without the Pure Mode... vmad.gif unlike the EU and US model. It also didnot includes the KRP-SE01 colour sensor as part of the accessory. cry.gif

No worries, bro. You can still use ISF calibration to get the job done thumbup.gif

If you guys are game for a little DIY calibration, I can share the settings that I managed to get on this thread.

Not sure how useful the color sensor is but it is something I can live without la rolleyes.gif

For the moment I've only adjusted the greyscale toning.

Btw- please share your thoughts/experience withe the Calman Enhanced Spyder 3 and if possible the difference between Calman over ColorVision's Spyder 3 smile.gif

Anyone have any tips on cleaning the Kuro bezel?

I recently did some renovation at my TV console and the contractor decided to help me clean it. I think he probably used sand paper. Aiya.. also there's some residue of some kind of chemical stain. Too bad. I've tried Acrylic cleaner, car polish, glass cleaner and even Turtle Car Wax. Can't get it all off, but I did manage to reduce it.

Most helpful would be the Car Wax. Don't use Glass Cleaner as apparently the ammonia or something there will corrode your bezel. If your bezel is really damaged, apparently some customers in the UK have been able to get a replacement bezel.

Just be careful and don't let anyone clean your baby except you!
*
Hi there,

Sorry to hear about this. Mind posting a picture of the bezel?

yay! there's a small kurokuro family here ...

okay .. for 508XG owners or other kuro owners ....

508 only have 2 HDMI port contrary to the 3 HDMI port behind ...

meaning ... Port 1,2 and 3 is RCA based (Yellow, Red and White)

Port 4 and 5 is HDMI - and Port 6 is RCA based again (Y,R and W)

funny thing is .. there is actually 3 HDMI port ....

there was a time, where i thought my HDMI Port 3 already kaput or spoilt, but the port 3 has another RCA port nearby ....

so confirm only 2 HDMI .... one for my BDP and one for Astro ...

my port 3 - RCA i use for my older DVD player ... so the HDMI port 3 is actually a dummy ...

have another Philips BDP mah ... btw - do u guys use Pioneer BDP?

Guys,

Please do not form any preconceive notions about the question. It was not intended to advocate any forms of piracy but to understand how a particular BD player works.

The question was brought up because some players are more sensitive than others. Whereas I have heard Philips players can play all types of discs.

Forums are intended for discussions, is it not?

Does owing an expensive HT system gives you the right to judge? cool2.gif

P/S : i would like to check with the MOD but I assume yes, forums are meant for discussions but still jatuh muka if the discussions revolve around piracy affiliated topics. I just read in thestar papers today that M'sia may be out of USA's DVD piracy watch list but looks like we still a long long way to go lor..... whistling.gif
*
Haha.. funny. There is another forumer who mention that he can't play an ori DVD on his player. Are you assuming that has to do with piracy as well? hmm.gif

What's the issue about a discussion on pirate discs? Since when is 'Ahem' a taboo to mention?

Perhaps, you can be the catalyst by doing some real work clean up on the streets? No point being 'Mr Clean' here to boost your ego here.

Malaysia on the watch list? Sigh..... you should start cleaning up you own back yard in Penang first, my friend flex.gif

Then everyone here will be more than happy to donate to your cause icon_idea.gif

Here are some settings that I created for my older 428XG for the Astro B.yond Box.

These settings are quite bright and can be used for all the HD channels. However, for the sports channels some might prefer a slightly brighter image. When I get the time I will create one for that. These settings were created using a pattern generator at 1080i. Since Astro does not broadcast any test signals, we have to hope that they adhere to the HD standards. The PACE STB uses Broadcom chipset that shd handle SD to HD colour space conversion correctly. However, YMMV with the various programming since they source the channels from various countries.

I have not tested the accuracy of them with Astro b.yond per se as my Astro is currently hooked up to my other set but they shd be pretty good.

Notes to keep in mind.

I will not be responsible if any problems arise with anyone using these settings. Use them if u want, else don't use them. They do not sustitute a proper calibration as each set is unique. My set has already 2500hrs on it so its pretty much broken in. The settings give a bright image (~40ftL) that shd be more than bright enuf. I doubt they can be used for the 508XG but it does not hurt trying. Also, if your set is less than 200hrs I woud suggest toning down the contrast to below 30. This reduces the chances of burn in from the bright Astro logos.  If I use the ISF modes, the greyscale is flatter, but I can only do it on site.

Anyway enjoy. I also attach the calibration reports for these settings based on my set. BTW, I always fill the screen when I watch Astro, so under Options I use Auto Wide Zoom.

No Kang-Tau at the moment. Not sure if some of the other models come with std speakers, if not then this might be worth considering?

Unlike the regular soundbars that either sits in front or hangs below the TV, this baby integrate seamlessly with the TV itself.

Hi Buddy,

I've overlooked your query earlier, my bad tongue.gif

Review, huh? Hmmm.... no idea what to write laugh.gif Considering that I'm staying in an apt. this HTIB fits the bill. A lot of variables to consider e.g. living room space, look n feel (whether it'll blend in with the rest of the stuff i.e. furniture, etc.), fussy neighbors, wiring, etc, etc.

There's always a trade-off between brawn and finesse flex.gif

I'm very pleased with it. Though it'll only decode standard Dolby & DTS, your BD player should be able to handle Dolby True HD & DTS-HD Master Audio to LPCM. Special thanks to Ngto, for shedding some light into this topic.

Though small, it can dish out sonic booms albeit it can't shake the 2000sq ft apt brows.gif

I opt for this unit as I couldn't find a way to fit the LX-70's massive double cone subwoofer around my TV cabinet doh.gif

You'll also need to tinker with the settings a bit starting off with MACC calibration to get the best out of it.

Other than the lower price point, the LX61 comes with a very capable 1080P upscalling DVD player. I tend to use it a lot for my music CD collection biggrin.gif

Oh yeah, the touch sensors is pretty cool and KURO link works exceptionally well with the rest of my setup

You'll find more info in the attachment below cheers.gif

For your short write up on the Pioneer HTZ-LX61, I still considering it or others, BTW my AV room is also quite small 14’ X 12”..
*
Bro, if space is a constraint then better not get something too bombastic.

If you can't play it at the optimal level then your investment is underutilized.

Yeah, a big setup will also take up more of your existing space.

Boys will be boys. Bigger boys, bigger toys brows.gif

As tempting as it might be to fill your room with toys, I think comfort also plays an important role in your overall HT experience biggrin.gif

Bro, managed to find out that the QAV 5.1 is available in these locations:

- HiWay Laser (SS2)
- the HifiShop (1U)
- Desa HT, Kepong

Word is, display units are available in both HiWay & Desa (I have not visually confirm this). Best to call before heading over.

Damage around $4K ish.

Bro, I don't think you need an AVR with this HT system. Everything is built-in unless you need some extra input/output for your setup.

If you're still keen in AVR, it is best to explore other options smile.gif
