QUOTE(shuto1 @ Apr 1 2010, 09:41 PM) I can attest to it being 'resilient' to burn in. I'm using it as my computer monitor. Been using it for hours on end and so far nothing. Not even a faint hint of a burn in. Bro, you have impeccable taste for a computer monitor I love my Kuro Remind me to use the TAD-R1 speakers as a bookshelf or door stopper if I get them |

does anyone know the difference between the different profiles in our KURO? can we actually use User mode to imitate Movie/Game mode? reason being is i'm using anfieldude's settings for my Movie mode which is good for Blu-rays but my parents are complaining that Astro looks to bright for their eyes...

Each mode has its own characteristics. The have different gamma curves. Movie mode using my settings are bright at 40ft/L. Movie mode has a perfect gamma curve. The User modes are more like S shaped gamma curves. The game modes I have not even touched. Dimmer modes for User u would need to turn down the contrast below 20. |

I think each profile has a different gamma and white balance so you can't get it exactly the same, but you could get it close. But I'd better let the kuro experts answer this question |

Simple, just get a couple of shades when watching Astro ! LOL...OK jokes aside. I haven't delve deep into the settings but I believe you can set the other AV selection modes to mimic your current Movie mode settings. Then again, you'll need to toggle between the different modes depending on whether you're watching BDs, Astro or playing games For specific, technical advise... best to get it from Sifu Anfieldude Let's see... the other more practical alternative is to use a universal remote to save the different profiles. I just got myself a Logitech Harmony One. It takes just one click to start all my AV equipment with the all proper Input settings. Great Here it is: ![]() If your condo or room has automatic blinds, it's programmable too Even turns on my AC at the same time. Now I'm still fiddling with the remote to see if I can program it to make me a cup 'Teh Tarik' or Popcorn every time when I click 'Watch Blu-ray'. Yup, this is gonna take some time Hope this helps This post has been edited by serendipity168: Apr 4 2010, 11:10 PM |

QUOTE(formalin @ Apr 5 2010, 11:34 AM) U can hooked up your sub-woofer direct to KRP-500A, if U do not have an AVR. KRP-500A have a dedicated sub-woofer out in the receiver unit.... You are absolutely right. In terms of KRP-500A, the sub-woofer can be hooked up directly with with the KRP-M01 Media receiver. However based on the earlier question, I'm not sure if it's the same for 508XG |

QUOTE(asherteoh @ Apr 5 2010, 11:58 AM) cool gadget..! how much did it cost u? and how do u get all the codes to the various remotes with their button functions and all??? Condo living has it's flip side i.e. pets not allowed. Always wanted a dog but it kinda absurd getting Sony AIBO since I don't have any newspaper or slippers for it to fetch Hence, I thought I'll teach this puppy to flip some switches rather than roll over Retail price is circa RM1K. All the remote codes can be downloaded from Logitech's massive online database. If a particular model is not found, you can manually program it via IR. The best thing about Logitech's software is while you're manually programming your remote, it runs a search in the background to identify a similar remote (and commands) and recommends it even before you complete the manual process. Easily saves you 30 mins. That's sweet! Depending on your HT setup, it may take some time to configure a complex setup. This is a pure IF remote. Should you have any AV equipment stored in a covered cabinet, it is best to get the Harmony 900/1100 that has RF capabilities. Overall, it's a great couch potato light saber Built-wise, I miss the KRP-500A remote. The sheer heft and all metal construct feels better in your hand On the 'Bright' side, this remote has the advantage of big white backlit buttons This post has been edited by serendipity168: Apr 5 2010, 01:18 PM |

So these days I'm glued to the sofa and posting on LYN from the Kuro.Remind me to use the TAD-R1 speakers as a bookshelf or door stopper if I get them Don't forget you can also tip the TAD-R1 over to it's side and use it as an ironing board QUOTE(serendipity168 @ Apr 4 2010, 11:08 PM) I just got myself a Logitech Harmony One. QUOTE(shuto1 @ Apr 5 2010, 03:11 PM) Ironing board? Excellent idea! A picnic table does comes to mind as well If one is going to get those speakers, might as well make it earn its keep, right? Btw - when I said 'if' earlier about the TAD speakers, it was intended as a big "IF" Added on April 5, 2010, 10:26 pm QUOTE(asherteoh @ Apr 5 2010, 01:40 PM) Here's a better idea, pass the 428XG to your Mom & Dad (they can have their preferred settings) while you get the KRP-500. You'll get to calibrate to your heart's contend Hey, it's a Win-Win situation! Btw - I'm no 'Elite' just an 'Enthusiast'. My original plan was to convert one of the bedroom to an AV room but the space is too small, |
