These are the revised settings for the 428XG and Astro B.Yond.

The last time I made a mistake during calibration by enabling Pure Cinema Advance. There is a bug in the 428XG where the Advance reduces luminance.

Please use this from now.

does anyone know the difference between the different profiles in our KURO? can we actually use User mode to imitate Movie/Game mode? reason being is i'm using anfieldude's settings for my Movie mode which is good for Blu-rays but my parents are complaining that Astro looks to bright for their eyes... tongue.gif any help/suggestion is much appreciated!

Simple, just get a couple of shades when watching Astro !  cool2.gif

LOL...OK jokes aside. I haven't delve deep into the settings but I believe you can set the other AV selection modes to mimic your current Movie mode settings. Then again, you'll need to toggle between the different modes depending on whether you're watching BDs, Astro or playing games  wink.gif

For specific, technical advise... best to get it from Sifu Anfieldude

Let's see... the other more practical alternative is to use a universal remote to save the different profiles.

I just got myself a Logitech Harmony One. It takes just one click to start all my AV equipment with the all proper Input settings. Great thumbup.gif

Here it is:

If your condo or room has automatic blinds, it's programmable too  icon_rolleyes.gif

Even turns on my AC at the same time. Now I'm still fiddling with the remote to see if I can program it to make me a cup 'Teh Tarik' or Popcorn every time when I click 'Watch Blu-ray'. Yup, this is gonna take some time  sweat.gif

Hope this helps  smile.gif

cool gadget..! how much did it cost u? and how do u get all the codes to the various remotes with their button functions and all???

Condo living has it's flip side i.e. pets not allowed. Always wanted a dog but it kinda absurd getting Sony AIBO since I don't have any newspaper or slippers for it to fetch  biggrin.gif

Hence, I thought I'll teach this puppy to flip some switches rather than roll over  brows.gif

Retail price is circa RM1K. All the remote codes can be downloaded from Logitech's massive online database. If a particular model is not found, you can manually program it via IR. The best thing about Logitech's software is while you're manually programming your remote, it runs a search in the background to identify a similar remote (and commands) and recommends it even before you complete the manual process. Easily saves you 30 mins. That's sweet!  icon_idea.gif

Depending on your HT setup, it may take some time to configure a complex setup.

This is a pure IF remote. Should you have any AV equipment stored in a covered cabinet, it is best to get the Harmony 900/1100 that has RF capabilities.

Overall, it's a great couch potato light saber bruce.gif. Besides, it really compliments the Pioneer PDPs as it comes in Piano Black.

Built-wise, I miss the KRP-500A remote. The sheer heft and all metal construct feels better in your hand  blush.gif

On the 'Bright' side, this remote has the advantage of big white backlit buttons  thumbup.gif

508XG arrived this morning rclxms.gif  The size is humongous vs my 29" CRT TV.

Currently break in using Evangelo2's DVD.

The Kungfu Panda, Ratatouille & Monster Inc.  PQ is awesome with out of box setting.

Added on May 31, 2010, 2:13 pmserendipity168 has asked me to write out my experience with anfieldude's service so here it is:

anfieldude came with a few bags containing measuring meters. the bag was rather big and i thought it was a projector! he looked at my initial movie setting and thought it was pretty bad... panel noise was evident. fyi my movie setting was based on his astro setting. he re-affirmed again that no one should follow the settings of others as each panel might have slight difference in terms of build. panels will have to be individually calibrated to bring the best out of them. i concur now smile.gif

anyways, he mentioned that my display was the worst he's seen and recommended me to call up pioneer to check out why there's so much panel noise. having said that, he started to setup the equipments and work for about close to 3 hours. after that, the calman report showed that my gray levels, color hues etc was near perfect. my picture has "pop" now... and color was spot on. panel noise was minimized to the point of negligible. black levels improved. he was happy with how the display is now..... i too am happy smile.gif

he even whipped out an SPL meter to gauge my speaker/sub setup... tone down my speaker/sub level and immediately my sub behave like it should... a sealed sub! i'm happy with the results.

at the end of it, i'm a very satisfied customer. fees are very reasonable.
