For those bank who keep delaying you when you wanna cut your credit card, think again my friends. Once you kena tax, can you call them up again and scold them and hope they will refund back to you? No mercy, do not hesistate.

What I meant was that I wouldn't use it too aggressively. For example, if I need to pay a bill amounting to RM8k, I will use my Alliance Visa Plat to pay the first RM5k and SCB JustOne for the balance RM3k. By doing this way, I can maximise the cash back of my Alliance Plat which is limited to RM68.75 for a maximum spending of RM5k on a monthly basis. Meanwhile, I can still slowly enjoy the cash back gained from SCB JustOne which is capped at RM600 on a yearly basis. I won't only use SCB JustOne alone for a bill costing more than RM5k. smile.gif
You will get a fresh rebate in April. Mine is slightly better. I received the card in June and the card anniversary date is in May. tongue.gif

ic, that's bcoz u still hv alliance plat
for me, if friday, swipe everything with JustOne
if normal days, swipe AMEX Gold 1st if can use it

if that's the case, I can get the fresh rebate earlier than u biggrin.gif

Regarding Item 7 International Transactions above, I have some inputs that i would like to share

These are the "exchange rates" I that i had in Indonesia. All have been done on the same date and same place.

Date of Transaction : 08-11-2009

Maybank Visa : 0.000365751
SCB Master : 0.000367261
Alliance Visa : 0.000373044

This actually negates the "Nil" Charges for Alliance bank. Does anybody else has similar findings?

my experience with credit cards cancellation (I go to their branches & terminate it):

UOB - efficient
Maybank - very slow (the credit card balance is still there in maybank2u after cancellation - makes me wonder whether they terminate it properly)
CIMB (DA) - ok (but the credit card balance is still there in cimbclicks after cancellation - same lousy as maybank sad.gif )
HSBC - slow service in their branch but the hsbc.com.my account was terminated immediately
Alliance - lousy & slow bank officer
Public bank - efficient, internet account will be terminated after 4-5 days cancellation of cards at branch
Citibank - very efficient (but they will persuade you till maximum level before you terminate it) - citibank online account will be terminated immediately
EON bank - efficient (internet account was terminated too)

just check your credit card expiry date (can find on your card "valid thru" - the expiry month)

I'm a user of EON, HLB and CIMB cards.
Well, CIMB is having the worst rating in terms of customer service.
I don't understand why is it so hard to get in touch with them.
Hung up my call after 35 minutes of waiting just now.
Sent them an email to request for an immediate reply.

Bad CIMB bad.... shakehead.gif

I think the thing goes this way..

If ur card expiry date is let's say

11/12

So only on November u will be charged

Let's say ur card expiry on Feb..

U cancel on Feb.... there should be no charge as I guess

Then if you re-apply on March... the tax shall be imposed immediately

Can anyone confirms this???

If you apply back in February, you are being charged Rm50 upfront. Not a good move btw. tongue.gif

KUALA LUMPUR: Applicants issued with new credit and charge cards next year will have to pay the RM50 service tax upfront.

For existing card holders, the charge will be imposed on the anniversary date of cards.

Hey that means we can apply for the American Express for the 15% rebate until end of February... then cancel it before anniversary date of late next year.

If we get approved in the next 2 weeks, that is.

The quota is most likely already full by 31/12/09. Good luck.

have to reconfirm this if our cards expire in 2012 let's say July whether it will be charged next year or 2012 as anniversary date does not mean expiry date

Don't get confused between card expiry and card anniversary. Anniversary on its own indicates every year occurance. You'll be charged the service tax on July 2010.

Mind posting the amount in Rupiah and RM? Also the posting date for the transaction. There is a 1.5-1.9% diff from the numbers you posted above.

winner,

r u sure on that, coz last time when i apply my card, the sales person told me i will get my 'quota' replenish yearly, they said cut off is 31/12? I already long finish my quota.. hav to wait till july..  cry.gif never mind, i will try to purchase something using this card on 2/1/10. I will update u all if there is a rebate..
The last batch of SCB JustOne was approved around Aug. It doesn't really make sense if those cards are given only 4 months to enjoy the yearly rebates. I wish to get a fresh RM600 rebate in Jan too. biggrin.gif Anyhow, you try and update us. tongue.gif

I don't think you can get your card in 2 weeks. MBB and Amex are busy processing card cancellation cases. When you receive the card, say in Jan, you will be charged an upfront service tax immediately and the maximum payout of RM4mil has finished too. smile.gif
