Bro AStro is always the winner ! As far HD is concerned all are new customers  !! See from that point ! So all are tied as newbies, By the way when did Astro ever valued its customers ? Even  phone companies  have started giving discounts for  Auto Debit and prompt monthly payments but I paid my bills promptly for 12 over years Astro doent care I am still a new customer on the waiting list ! vmad.gif  mad.gif

That is the thing that I don't understand about Astro. They should encourage auto debit and customer paid in advance. Instead, they took away the bonuslink points and now does not give any benefit if customer wants to pay quaterly or annually. rclxub.gif

Bite the bullet and pay RM10 to downgrade, now only have basic asstro subscription. No need to watch censored HD with advertisement.
Already watching uncensored HD content without advertisement, and when I want it! laugh.gif

the thing is everyting is free, but installation is RM80.

How much will it cost to sign up for Astro B.yond?
The Astro B.yond Box, the remote control, the Outside Dish Unit (ODU), and HDMI cable will be available for free. However, an RM80.00 installation fee will be charged on top of the RM20.00 monthly access fee for the High-Definition channels.
*
No installation is also free for now, but they will take back the old decoder and dish.

Why would a 1080p TV would not be as good as a 720p TV when watching 720p channel? Both are having the same aspect ratio.
*
LOL isn't it obvious? The PQ wouldn't be as sharp as 720p on 720p.Just the same concept as playing 640x480 video on a 1920x1080 resolution...the video gets more pixelated

I'm just concerned that some of the movies in HBO are not even in original HD resolution. But they will be upscaled?

IMHO, its not worth paying for HD channels except for ardent sports viewers. the other channel content are mostly repeats and are good enough as SD.

the other issue is whether the HD content is upscaled from SD?

1.Are u sure the 720p tv u have is a true 1280x720p? Where u have 1:1 pixel mapping?
2. 640x480 is 4-3 ratio. 1920x1080 tv is 16-9. Surely some horizontal stretching required.

Wonder the RJ45 (network) port is for what purpose ?
Just call up ASTRO, extra decoder have to pay RM20 per month as well. Meaning, if you have 2nd decoder (which you pay half of the master unit subscription fee), you need to pay extra RM40/month. rclxub.gif

Astro agent called me today. Says something about contacting me again on the 17th Dec. I ask how long does it take for them to process the registration to installing the dish, and they said 14 days.

yes... same with me..
they also called me and said that they only will process my application for beyond on 15 December (Tuesday)..
and anytime within 2 weeks from 15 December, the installer will call me and install it.... smile.gif .
so, i assume, i only will get astro beyond at the end of december or probably within the first week of January 2010... sweat.gif
i will miss my astro max... it has served me very well... cry.gif
