the funny thing is the launch is just around the corner, and consumers still not updated, on the extra charges and how to change the set top boxes/dish

so who will be the 1st batch to view HD content

such a big multinational corporation..... but with screwed-up managemnet

Added on December 9, 2009, 8:09 pmactually before the HD launch, consumers must be notified about the charges maybe 6mths before,

so installation process will be done prior to those that agree,
and "BANG" on the 18th, consumers will withness 1080i broadcast

sorry to say somemore, after merdeka, and Tun Dr Mahathir, had stress, we will be citizens of malaysia in 2020, and now our "one malaysia"

sorry to elaborate ok

but, i see we chinese are being pinalised, our package is the most expensive as we really need Wah Lai Toi (Dynasti)

for other races, they just need the minimum package,

to be frank Astro is very unfair since Day 1.....

Its not officially launched lah. How can explain the package price to the public?  doh.gif
*
i "very know" its not launch yet.... astro is a monopoly business concept, so are the decoders...

decoders are not expensive like vehicles,
for vehicles...you book at the launch date, and take delivery on the 1st phase of ready stocks, 1st come 1st delivered basis..

we do know Malaysian TV network, going HD broadcast rite?? in the NEAR future, Even its in the NEAR future, we can still buy HD receiver LCD's mind not, dvico ( which many of our forumers had already invested in one).
so what i basically mean, is we just get ourself ready, so if Malaysian TV goes HD on the 18th, those who have the equipment will be able to enjoy on that very day itself !!! correct

for astro, you want to get ready also kenot, you have to wait for them announce, then maybe subscribers will be notified in batches when their installation is available....

just like "premium BOX office" you pay ahead so on the broadcast date you get to watch... so shows are not even launched yet but you got the prices\, pay and just wait for broadcasting.... got it biggrin.gif

i dont get it, they said have RM150 million in marketing for HD rollout, why not yet done any marketing to generate buzz around Astro HD??
*
precisely, the 150m funds suppose to be the decoders/dish y not send to us 1st prior to launch date, so come 11th all will enjoy HD broadcast

hmm.gif now i am really wondering a plus for astro also ( this i must say rclxms.gif )

if malaysian TV goes HD, so those with astro HD, will not have to change their TV!!! ( fingers crossed biggrin.gif )

Why are you arguing about this? We all know about it lah.
Why compare with vehicles? Unlike decoder, vehicles has a different kind of market.

Look at iPhone, they announce it during Mac expo, but no one can order it straight away. Intel also announce their CPU, but you cannot get it straight away at lowyat plaza. Same thing with Astro HD. 11th is the official announcement and people can start registering.
*
for iphone and intel.... the situation is different, they face fierce competition from nokia, blackberry, sony ericcson, omnia, AMD etc

so they have to announce even their prouduct is still in protocol stage, so "world humans" will refrain from buying anything competitive 1st, unless in urgent need...
marketing strategy ma biggrin.gif

and the NHK is using mpeg4, will astro be using mpeg2 or mpeg4?
*
bro, you are lucky to be in that part of the world ( east Malaysia biggrin.gif )

many sat dishes had been installed long time EVEN before astro was officially launch

even the rulling party dare not touch on this issue..... rclxms.gif

But still, with the new decoder, Astro will have to change my wiring and.....where to find few hundred feet of HDMI cable? I refuse to pay for a second decoder even if it is 50 percent off.
*
dont think need to change cables ( astro using 75ohms same as coaxial ady), even RTM does their HD broadcast test using existing aerial, and RF cables
QUOTE(MyDevil @ Dec 10 2009, 05:18 PM)
You still need HDMI splitter. Don't think the Astro decoder has 2 HDMI output.
*
i really think serve no purpose having 2HDMI outs,
If no HDMI receiver also cant do anything

think no one will hook one to TV and the other to AVR

if your receiver have HDMI input, means you can bypass your astro HDMI thru existing AVR enven if the AVR is "switched OFF" biggrin.gif

i've thought of it long ago, that 720p shud be better than 10801,( just no details ) cause its progressive scan,
but i still use 1080i haha haha somehow or rather just dont accept only biggrin.gif

will try out next time again, i tested wit the dvico last time, NOW maybe with BD-Player biggrin.gif

anfield,
this 'just' mode helps a little but the peope remain short and fat, definitely not the correct aspect ratio. it's only when i set it to 4:3 that i get the correct a-r with the 2 empty blue/grey bars on the sides.
*
same here oso,
i dont mind watching the 4:3 in 16:9 in wide zoom, really get a full 16:9 50" feel, but my HM prefer 4:3 mad.gif

I saw the demo at Astro centre. The new decoder is really small! Even smaller than the current one. Picture quality was nice too. Already applied for one, let's see how long it takes to arrive here!

Yes I mentioned that I read in their website about paying RM80 and keeping old decoder, yet she said no such thing.

Maybe what they meant was they will take back the old satellite dish so that you can't use the old (for the old TV)  and new (for another HD TV in another part of the house) together.
*
bro....better check out properly 1st....

if you subscribe to HD channel, your old card will be diasbled cause you only have one account to switch over

if you want to keep the old one you must have 2 accounts, means double the $$$

Bite the bullet and pay RM10 to downgrade, now only have basic asstro subscription. No need to watch censored HD with advertisement.
Already watching uncensored HD content without advertisement, and when I want it! laugh.gif

That is the thing that I don't understand about Astro. They should encourage auto debit and customer paid in advance. Instead, they took away the bonuslink points and now does not give any benefit if customer wants to pay quaterly or annually.  rclxub.gif

haiya... what the fuss.... POTONG la...

pay RM30/mth to rent a DL server.... save the balance $$$

you can download as many HD content as you like... haha haha...
