Let me tell you why Astro sux...
1. Code always appear in selected times. 2. Astro SD channel is actually CTMSD channel (Compressed-Too-Much SD Channel) 3. Double Line Subtitles is blocking our view. 4. Astro operator tell me that HK no HD channel when I call Astro in January 2009. 5. The show is repeat and repeat again. |

Thanks. i'm able to.i assume it's during the free period from now to april. after which they'll block it good thing it's free..cos i find it to be nothing impressive, still prefer to buy blu ray and keep rather than pay for this. im disappointed in Supersport. why in hell are they showing NFL? makes no sense |

Installers are so free awiting instuctions but the story is the other way with Astro. Added on December 22, 2009, 11:15 am QUOTE(Mgsrulz @ Dec 22 2009, 11:11 AM) i'm able to. question:
for all the other SD channels, had astro fix the aspect ratio to 16:9 ,so that the actors will look normal instead of the 'fat/streched' look we have now ? |

QUOTE(Razaelx @ Dec 22 2009, 11:18 AM) question: You cannot make SD channels, which all are filmed at 4:3, to become 16:9.for all the other SD channels, had astro fix the aspect ratio to 16:9 ,so that the actors will look normal instead of the 'fat/streched' look we have now ? Only way they can do it without trying to fat/streched is to ZOOM in the 4:3 until the sides fills up the black pillar box. But then it means the top and bottom of the 4:3 picture will be crop up. Not to mention it becomes more pixalated. |

QUOTE(binary @ Dec 22 2009, 09:54 AM) For those who already installed Byond, I need to know how many of you are able to watch HBO HD even though you are not a HBO subscriber. Thanks. I tried but couldn't, called up Astro, they said only subscribed packages only, no such thing as 'free' all 5 HD until April, only the delayed you RM20 payment. So those who are getting 'free' HBO HD are lucky (may be Astro overlook your packages), so enjoy while u can. So i upgrade mine to movie package yesterday, but regret 'cos picture quality not as Na Geo HD or Hist HD. DD5.1 sound worse. Astro must to something about their Dolby Digital 5.1, if not people go back to 'pasar malam' DVDs, far...far better surrond theatre sound! i might cancel my movie package if no any improvement. Anybody disagree? Had anybody watch clear (picture & sound) HBO HD movie yet? |

QUOTE(desmondyap93 @ Dec 22 2009, 11:08 AM) Call Astro now and tell them that you're canceling your account starting January next year. Do it quickly!QUOTE(Mgsrulz @ Dec 22 2009, 11:11 AM) good thing it's free..cos i find it to be nothing impressive, still prefer to buy blu ray and keep rather than pay for this. I know BD is better but not all programming on NGC and History have been released on BD. And sports on BD? Well forget that.QUOTE Because expats and NFL fans want their game in HD too? QUOTE(Razaelx @ Dec 22 2009, 11:18 AM) question: Not possible. This is due to the fact that the government never mandated that all TV programming be transmitted as anamorphic video. This is what Europe and Australia have done; by mandating it, it forced 4:3 SD TV manufacturers to include a mode to enable anamorphic conversion. The old decoder box actually have a widescreen mode but because there was no mandate, there was no need for Astro to enable it. It might actually cause more confusion. Even some SD channels like everything in the Kids channel are not shown in letterbox.for all the other SD channels, had astro fix the aspect ratio to 16:9 ,so that the actors will look normal instead of the 'fat/streched' look we have now ? If Astro is serious about HD, then maybe later in the next year you will see a local channel shot in HD. There's only so much bandwidth the satellite can handle. fuad |

QUOTE(sg999 @ Dec 22 2009, 11:39 AM) Yeah .. all msian company sux.I wonder why people don't even bother to read on the posts a few pages back. I remembered someone literally explaining regarding 1080p and 1080i standards. How BD differs? How 1080p isn't even being broadcast live in any part in the world and how it consumes bandwidth. Sure, you can get 1080p quality but all are after market products. |
