I think I get what you mean, if Astro was to increase SD MPEG 2 to 9Mbits/s then we would only have 3 channels per transponder, a total of 30 channels... so which 70 channels would you propose to remove in order to do this?

The SD channels on Astro B.yond are the same Measat 3 transmissions that was received by your old SD decoder, they are not specific transmissions to Astro B.yond.

My Astro B.yond gives perfect 5.1 audio, no echo just true 5.1. You should check your audio settings, you could have some post processing that is causing the effect. Some cinema audio systems have mode that turns stereo in to an artificial surround sound, you could have this switched on. As with the TV you should turn off all enhancement modes on your amplifier.

I would also check that you have not got crossed wires, i.e. red on the amplifier connected to red on the speaker, if red is connected to black then you could get all kinds of phasing issues. Also, make sure you are using the digital audio connections, not stereo analogue.

Do you ask him how many house per day they can install?
*
The one came to my hse (Klang) said 20 in 3 days! Work day/nite. More 20,000 already apllied.
HBO HD not so gd(depend on master), DD5.1 through my Pioneer AVR lousy(watch Batman), Astro must do some upgrading. If opt out for DD5.1 no sound through HDMI (TV) for HD channels, only through amp, other channels ok (dont know why).

The Byond remote control can be calibrated to be used as your TV remote (on/off, volume & channels) based on TV code provided in your guide.

For those who already installed Byond, I need to know how many of you are able to watch HBO HD even though you are not a HBO subscriber. Thanks.
*
I tried but couldn't, called up Astro, they said only subscribed packages only, no such thing as 'free' all 5 HD until April, only the delayed you RM20 payment. So those who are getting 'free' HBO HD are lucky (may be Astro overlook your packages), so enjoy while u can. So i upgrade mine to movie package yesterday, but regret 'cos picture quality not as Na Geo HD or Hist HD. DD5.1 sound worse.
Astro must to something about their Dolby Digital 5.1, if not people go back to 'pasar malam' DVDs, far...far better surrond theatre sound! i might cancel my movie package if no any improvement.
Anybody disagree? Had anybody watch clear (picture & sound) HBO HD movie yet?

for those who in movies package, just stay on it, since they are going to charge from April, you may as well, try and see the HBO HD thing first, if you not like it, then just cut movies package, which cost RM20, and RM10 for downgrade package, then your monthly fees is same as before, but you don't have movies package now

correct me if I am wrong,

call on Sunday, T&C on Monday, now waiting Installer call

i agree, which i intend to do.

Guys, just got my astro b.yond installed yesterday. Connected via HDMI cable to my plasma tv. I've notice that volume cannot be controlled via astro's remote.he volume stay's the same even with max or min volume. Any of you face similar problem?
*
Astro remote no effect on volume. I calibrated the Byond remote to be used as my Pana plasma remote (see ur manual guide) using the code given. Working very well to control volume/ AV channel / on & off for TV. Great Byond remote.

Just got my b.yond this afternoon at around 1:30pm. Apply last tuesday, got a call from astro on wednesday, got a call from installer on friday ask me whether i will be at home on saturday which sadly I wasn't, sunday and monday as well. So they came today. which is good  rclxms.gif

Anyway, when i set to dolby digital 5.1, no sound at all on HD channels, anybody know why? is it because of the audio cable? I thought with HDMI, it supposed to support both video & audio? ( i got pioneer home theather system, also connected with HDMI and it support audio + video ), so what's actually i've done wrong?
If i'm not mistaken, F1 normally aired on starsport. so no HD la..  sad.gif
*
i face the same problem . Looks like if opt for DD5.1, sound only through coaxial to amp/avr, not to TV(HDMI) for HD channels, other channels ok. Very funny. Anyway, DD5.1 sucks(echo etc), Regret. Astro must look into this.

Yes, for now that's how Astro sets up the decoder box. Technically, the box should be able to bitstream DD via HDMI and coax simultaneously since the HD signals are H.264. Just like how a DVD player can output digital audio via coax and optical simultaneously. Maybe there will be updates in the future.

Right now if you want 5.1, HDMI for video and coax for audio. It's a pain for those who have newer HDMI receivers.

Don't bother calling because they are NOT able to give you an answer nor do anything other than just asking you to wait. I tried that twice and received the same answer. I signed up on 13/12/09 and subscription verification on 17/12/09. I was told to wait 10 days after then so the deadline is 27/12/09. I will tell you whether they are on-time, by the stories given by others here I don't think it's first-come-first-serve, more like more-luck-first-serve.
*
Agreed. May be first come-first seruntil Astro level only. When goes to installers it's more on convinience. Try to finish as much as posible in one area, tak kira first or last, also the availablity of the owners. Which make sense. It's luck. Same as some enjoying HBO HD without subscribing to movie package! Life is such...hee...hee

J - can't really notice the difference between 1080i output/720p output. Currently I am using 720p (recommended for HD Ready TVs) and 1080i (for full HD TVs). As its able to de interlace properly. The PQ looks superb. I've to admit , I am stunned
*
U mean 720p is better for HD ready? Mine is HD ready but using 1080i. I'll change & see. Any difference?

I got mine installed yesterday, i agreed that the picture quality is good (close to Blu-ray but not as good) but I have issues with HBO HD's Dobly Digital 5.1.

I am not sure has anyone else experience this:

Channel: HBO HD
Sound Setting: Dobly Digita 5.1 only

Front L & R channels seems to mixed up together with Center channel, but delay around 500ms, which sound like an echo when there is a dialog.

I do not think this is due to the source, but rather how it is being encoded by Astro.  I have called Astro, and spoken with one of the technical personal, hopefully they can get this resolve asap.

NAT GEO HD & HISTORY HD no problem.

Same problem. Looks like leaking. 'Incredible Hulk' was ok compare to other movie watched so far. Still need improvement. Thx for contacting Astro.

Not just you, myself as well.  For some reason center channel sources somehow mix with front L & R with 500ms delay...
I have contacted Astro yesterday, a technical person did call me, but he said I am the only person ever call them on this issues... maybe you should call Astro as well, file a report... smile.gif
*
YES. It's look like 'universal' problem .Real heartache, so near yet so far away! I did complain thru online. Just got aknowledgement, waiting for official reply. I think all of us need to complain. Pls give us the technical person number.

I think more people have to give feedback on DD5.1 to Astro. i called them, they say so far nobody complain about DD5.1. It's really frustrating, Dark knight, picture so clear, but the surround sound through AVR sucks! sad.gif

When the chinese channel 311,333,322,314 will be in HD ?
*
Are sure ur DD5.1 working 'WELL' with coaxial digital through ur amp/avr, good separation without echo etc? Do you get sound through TV (HDMI) for HD channel when opt for DD5.1? Mine cannnot! hmm.gif

Same here... Can't seem to use the Favourite key. I can add, but can't "call" it.
*

Fav key not as friendly as old remote, at least for me. After key in you fav, you have to press 'ok' to get the banner & press fav key to go for other fav channels, can't go backward. It was much easier before, once u choose your fav channels u can go forward/backward by just pressing channels button. Or am i not setting up it properly? blush.gif
