I think I get what you mean, if Astro was to increase SD MPEG 2 to 9Mbits/s then we would only have 3 channels per transponder, a total of 30 channels... so which 70 channels would you propose to remove in order to do this?

The SD channels on Astro B.yond are the same Measat 3 transmissions that was received by your old SD decoder, they are not specific transmissions to Astro B.yond.

My Astro B.yond gives perfect 5.1 audio, no echo just true 5.1. You should check your audio settings, you could have some post processing that is causing the effect. Some cinema audio systems have mode that turns stereo in to an artificial surround sound, you could have this switched on. As with the TV you should turn off all enhancement modes on your amplifier.

I would also check that you have not got crossed wires, i.e. red on the amplifier connected to red on the speaker, if red is connected to black then you could get all kinds of phasing issues. Also, make sure you are using the digital audio connections, not stereo analogue.

if u wan 2 set ur remote control to adjust ur tv volume,
u have to do some setting,
please read your user guide for the instruction and your tv code.

i don know is it work on hifi or only tv...

sometimes when i am switching the channel,
the new channel will only appear black screen,
but have sound,
after i switch to previous channel and get back,
the picture come out,
may i know why is it?

for those who in movies package, just stay on it, since they are going to charge from April, you may as well, try and see the HBO HD thing first, if you not like it, then just cut movies package, which cost RM20, and RM10 for downgrade package, then your monthly fees is same as before, but you don't have movies package now

Guys, just got my astro b.yond installed yesterday. Connected via HDMI cable to my plasma tv. I've notice that volume cannot be controlled via astro's remote.he volume stay's the same even with max or min volume. Any of you face similar problem?

Just got my b.yond this afternoon at around 1:30pm. Apply last tuesday, got a call from astro on wednesday, got a call from installer on friday ask me whether i will be at home on saturday which sadly I wasn't, sunday and monday as well. So they came today. which is good 

Anyway, when i set to dolby digital 5.1, no sound at all on HD channels, anybody know why? is it because of the audio cable? I thought with HDMI, it supposed to support both video & audio? ( i got pioneer home theather system, also connected with HDMI and it support audio + video ), so what's actually i've done wrong?
If i'm not mistaken, F1 normally aired on starsport. so no HD la.. 

Yes, for now that's how Astro sets up the decoder box. Technically, the box should be able to bitstream DD via HDMI and coax simultaneously since the HD signals are H.264. Just like how a DVD player can output digital audio via coax and optical simultaneously. Maybe there will be updates in the future.

Right now if you want 5.1, HDMI for video and coax for audio. It's a pain for those who have newer HDMI receivers.

Don't bother calling because they are NOT able to give you an answer nor do anything other than just asking you to wait. I tried that twice and received the same answer. I signed up on 13/12/09 and subscription verification on 17/12/09. I was told to wait 10 days after then so the deadline is 27/12/09. I will tell you whether they are on-time, by the stories given by others here I don't think it's first-come-first-serve, more like more-luck-first-serve.

J - can't really notice the difference between 1080i output/720p output. Currently I am using 720p (recommended for HD Ready TVs) and 1080i (for full HD TVs). As its able to de interlace properly. The PQ looks superb. I've to admit , I am stunned

I got mine installed yesterday, i agreed that the picture quality is good (close to Blu-ray but not as good) but I have issues with HBO HD's Dobly Digital 5.1. 

I am not sure has anyone else experience this:

Channel: HBO HD
Sound Setting: Dobly Digita 5.1 only

Front L & R channels seems to mixed up together with Center channel, but delay around 500ms, which sound like an echo when there is a dialog.

I do not think this is due to the source, but rather how it is being encoded by Astro.  I have called Astro, and spoken with one of the technical personal, hopefully they can get this resolve asap.

Not just you, myself as well.  For some reason center channel sources somehow mix with front L & R with 500ms delay...
I have contacted Astro yesterday, a technical person did call me, but he said I am the only person ever call them on this issues... maybe you should call Astro as well, file a report...

Just installed my Astro boyond, using my Wireworld silver starlight HDMI, no problem with DD 5.1 in HD and SD channel. Picture quality really good in HD channel and some imporvement in SD channel.

When the chinese channel 311,333,322,314 will be in HD ?
