QUOTE(riannvd @ Oct 2 2009, 11:40 PM) Hi guys.. Im student and foreigner. I want to apply a credit card in here.. if i can apply, any requirements? Are you 21 already ? You cannot use your credit card issued by a bank in your home country because the banks here have no access to your country's central bank record to check your credit score and all. You will need to provide a proof of income in order to get a credit card here.fyi, i have 1 credit card from bank in my country.. Im still study and dont have salary slip.. Anyway, there is one way though. You can apply for a secured credit card. Basically you need to deposit some money, say RM10,000 into the bank time deposit account and then request them to apply a credit card for you by pledging it using your time deposit. You cannot cancel your time deposit account as long as you are still using the credit card and it usually take 2 - 3 months before you can get your time deposit money back after the cancellation of your credit card. One more alternative is to just get a debit card from any banks that are offering it. Good luck ! This post has been edited by MilesAndMore: Oct 3 2009, 12:16 AM |

QUOTE(hye @ Oct 2 2009, 06:20 PM) On the subject of IBG, the following banks charges RM0.50 for IBG I think most local banks has set RM5k as limit for per day and not per transaction. It really sucks lastime and have to pay RM2 twice. Now at 50cent, still ok.1. SCB 2. Citibank 3. CIMB (till end of 2009) Alliance Bank is RM 1.00 per transfer (subject to max RM5K per transaction) |

That's the limit imposed on e-banking. The limit per transaction is much higher if it is done over the counter. |

Yes ... you are right. The limit is set on a per daily basis. If you have a very large bill then you have to do the payment in least 2 days. Worst if you have too many cards to pay ... good thing CIMB offer cheap IBG fees till end of the year.Psst .... one secret, cost of IBG fees are lower than RM0.50. QUOTE(jasonkwk @ Oct 2 2009, 10:29 PM) You definitely can request the bank to reduce your CL. However, some banks MAY NOT allow you to reduce the CL drastically below the threshold level, DEPENDING on the banks' policies. I tried to request a bank to deduct the CL of my Plat cc till RM1000, but the bank could only reduce it to 20k as 20k is the minimum CL level for its Plat series. This post has been edited by winner: Oct 3 2009, 06:38 AM |

I don't really get what you meant. We were talking about Interbank Giro limit of 5k per day while you were referring to Credit Limit of cc. For cc, you can swipe up to any amount within your CL. For example, if your CL is 100k and your cc doesn't carry any outstanding balance, your can spend up to 100k and your cumulative spending (yet to be settled) cannot be more than 100k. The CL is on "available" amount limit basis. |

Citibank Singapore has recently introduced a new credit card in Singapore and it is called "Dividend Card". It actually comes in two versions. One World Mastercard and the other one is VISA Signature. This credit card gives you permanent cash rebates of 5% for petrol, 2% for dining, restaurants, groceries, and 0.5% for all other purchases. The maximum rebate for one year is S$800 which is not bad at all. The requirement for this card is pretty low. One needs to earn only S$30000/pa (Singaporean and Singapore PR) in order to qualify for this card which is exactly the same as their Platinum series credit cards.
![]() ![]() Citibank Malaysia did not introduce any good new cards in the last few years. Will be great if Citibank Malaysia bring in this card here too This post has been edited by MilesAndMore: Oct 3 2009, 09:14 PM |

Whats so great about it then?
The 5% is most probably if you have carried forward balance which is same like Citibank Shell gold card. Not to mention that we dont even have a limit on the rebates that we can get. |

No. Unlike the el-cheapo credit cards Citibank Malaysia is offering, the Citibank Singapore Dividend credit card doesn't need you to have a carried forward balance to enjoy the cash back. This card was actually first introduced by Citibank NA in USA many years ago. Both share similar benefits and cash back system. As you can read below, you will get the cash back in check. In the USA, one is given the options to either get a check, direct credit into his/her savings/checking account held with Citibank NA, cash at counter or credit into his/her credit card bill statement. |

QUOTE(DarReNz @ Oct 4 2009, 11:47 PM) Yeah ... I was thinking along the same line.Combo it with JustOne and you'll have the perfect combination! The Citibank version limits the discount based on product category instead of day of the week which JustOne uses. |

Ok, I've just applied CIMB Bank Mastercard a few months ago I dont know which card to apply though, it is just too confusing, any comment for this CIMB Mastercard?
and something that I dont really understand, it is stated that: Absolutely Free For Life - Experience year after year of financial freedom with no joining or annual fees, ever but at the 'Fee and Charges' page, it is stated: Annual Fee Principal - Platinum Free For Life - Gold RM140 - Classic RM70 mine is the Classic, so does the annual fee apply? |
