i think good for downloading & other general use...

if P1 can give lower ping can be really good for real-time apps & gaming...

really hope P1 can do something on this for us gamers (eventho i didn't have any problem when online gaming)...

as others who have bad service area, P1 should quickly upgrade the capacity of the BTS before losing new customers...

TS, pls advise should I ignore this bill as I've terminated your service on 5th Dec 09.
Reason of termination: there's no more coverage in my area & P1 has removed the base tower without my notice. sweat.gif

Dear Mr. Lowyat_P1W1MAX
I am one of the users (100725928) from JB that join at the very beginning of the P1 launched. I believe my 1 year contract already expired. I would say P1 service is very good that include speed as well as CS. I was proud to show off my friend how good was the surfing experience compare to other 1Mb service. How good "15 Malaysia" can be streamed withtout delay. My users at home were happy with it as well.
However, since beginning of Dec the speed is extremely slow. During the peak house, it is around 100-300kbps for the download, and less than 500kbps during off-peak. Worst case, sometime even disconnected at all. Due to the slowness, I have contacted CS, the explanation is the base station near me (the only 1) is congested and there is no promise time frame when quality can resume as normal(OMG). So no promis and no rebate! I always have to work from home by remoting to my office hence luckily I still keep my 384kbps streamyx as backup. Suprisingly, the $60 streamyx is " a lot" faster than the $99 P1 service. I have tried Maxis BB at my home and it is capable of 2Mbps at most time as well.
As P1 supporter, I wish to congratulate P1 gained so many new customers after the "potong" promotion. I believe the recent slowndown at my area is due to that. I think it is not fair to old faithful users like me. What do I get with $99? When 10GB limit is up, I was capped within 400kbps I silent, when I forgot to pay my bill, line suspended immediately and I have to wait 24hour, I accept and now 300kbps without cap? Streamyx is offering $120 for 2Mbps and minus phone line, it is $95. Maxis daily pass is a very good backup for me which only cost $8 per day and yet, celcom $6 per day. I think it is time to "potong"! Streamyx, here I come.
regards
Nels

Usually it will be slow during peak hour after 8pm (subject to location). But surprisingly for ppstream and other video streaming application, it's quite fast and most of the time (inc peak hour) can go up to 500kbps of smooth streaming which enough for smooth streaming. So I can believe the issue is on the uplink but not the downlink. But if when upload doesn't work, webpage will be loaded slow like hell, which makes sense. To be frank, in term of service stability, p1 has improved over the past 1 year ... and now, the issue is mostly on the speed ... hope they can double up their action to resolve this issue, understand it's not easy to be a new player (as compared to 10+ years experience for StreamyX, Maxis, Digi and Celcom broadband) ... but if P1 wanna survive they need to do things 5x faster!

By observation, the speed is dependant on location, so it depends whether you are lucky ... that's why the first 7 days is crucial (my personal opinion is that if you find it slow, then dun expect p1 to resolve in 7 days, better return than wait! cause to solve congestion definitely is not 7 days work by common sense).

Another observation is that why some people (inc me) will encounter perfect quality during the first month than subsequently will slow down ... reason behind as i can see is because when new station is up (no subscribers), so of course fast! But as time past, more and more users subscribed under the same station (due to p1 agressiveness in sales) ... then it becomes slower ... it kinda make sense ... haha ... so rule of thumb ... wait 1-2 months after you first see the sales people asking you to subscriber ... then u will find the "actual" speed ...

The same will be faced by Digi Broadband, first question should be asked is how many subs they already have then will justify how how good is the speed ... if they only have <5k or so then it's possible it will still be running good, but when the number of subscribers under a station grows ... it will look like Maxis and Celcom ... Digi, Maxis and Celcom are using the same HSPA technology ... I do not see how Digi Broadband service can be any better as compared to Maxis and Celcom now ... it's physics, no escape for wireless broadband ... wait and see.

i think DiGi still got good speed because the price of their subscription is kinda high... so not many middle class people will go for it. as for p1 their price is okok, so many people will subscribed it and thus the fast congestion.
