QUOTE(saiga @ May 20 2007, 01:52 AM) that things onli happened when I set the picture mode to 'panorama'. so now i using 'full' mode and it does the job for me btw, my set is Sharp PX5M (32 inch). or it is coz i set something wrongly? Full mode is for 16:9 squeeze picture...which is different than Panorama forsmart stretching of 4:3 aspect ratio, especially for Astro.....what is your WSS setting????? I will never set the full mode for astro......Mind showing the picture flaw?????

QUOTE(ganaz-x @ May 20 2007, 09:43 AM) Setting full mode will make people look fatter. Have you noticed that? Trueee....the process of transforming 4:3 aspect ratio of Astro to 16:9. through the Full Mode will definitely makes the Picture looks at overblown size (as it is only recommended for the picture with 16:9 aspect ratio).....as for Panorama is the right setting for stretching 4:3 aspect ratio...... If you are looking for 42", then Pana LCD will be out of question since they dont produce 42" LCD tv at the moment.

Yup checked Panasonic site, their LCD is 32" and below only, all 40" and above are Plasma TV. So, Sharp (not sure yet which model, maybe some could recommend here) & Samsung LA40R81B is the final answer to me for now. If both end up cost me a bomb, will look into any 32" Models.

QUOTE(silencer @ May 19 2007, 06:34 AM) hahaha....lord ashe..the best thing..u try checking it out the smart stretch technology for sharp tv on the retailers near u...let your eyes be the judge...and u can always googling on its features in the web too or asking the fellow sharp lcd tv owners about it...for me..it works super Ok..i dunno about others that do not own the sharp lcd tv, but keep complaining about it...again, no lcd tv is created equal...if not, might as well buying the cheapest 1...i keep wondering when non-lcd users keep complaining about the feature wise of lcd tc....i believe ..they should start buying it and experience it themselves rather than keep pointing the pros and cons of each brands...there is no doubt each has its strengths and weaknesses sooossshh...to the troll... Heheh well I didn't really look out for the smart stretch tech when I was TV shopping, so it didn't factor into my decision. I made Philips my choice cause I like the way Philips displays work - but as you said, our eyes can only be the judge.

QUOTE(silencer @ May 19 2007, 06:34 AM) Added on May 19, 2007, 6:43 amTrue..true..true..HD is all the way..... Added on May 19, 2007, 6:52 amI am really curious on your above statement..i guess if all the lcd tv is created equal...i might be as well be buying the china brand lcd tv...and most of the videophile reviewers for the different models will be the same too (which is not true..as different model been rated differently by those videophile reviewers)...wonder if that statement is made out from your disappoinment that most people keep buying the lcd tv and start enjoying the HD worlds....which will never be redundant if u do own the xbox 360 or PS3...and can afford either the HD-DVD or BD movies..now, u r making me laugh on such a childish statement.... Excuse my bloatness, but making reference to reviews have never been the benchmark of oh goodness. Which i may imply that it somehow contradicts with ur look for ur own good self statement. That little glitch aside, may i remind u that there is no restriction to whatever any forumer is entitled to say or not to say, especially when no lines have been cross. While some people like to violate and taunt what have never been theirs, it's of tantamount importance that others keep health in mind. And with proper respect, i would be glad that a milder choice of language is used. While some people would drive themselves to Boston to have themselves some lobster, that alone doesnt make them wise. Although the monitor stares u straight in a line, but think and ponder, is it possible to read between them. Taunt and think eh?

QUOTE(cocklea @ May 21 2007, 09:30 AM) guys, xbox360 connected with component vs VGA, which is better? thinking bout switching to VGA after the update, but not sure yet. IMHO, it depends on the TV. If you're using a CRT, component all the way If you're using LCD, from my observation, a good quality component signal MAY look better than a shoddy VGA cable. I tested my 360 using original component, ciplak third party VGA and original VGA. I have to say that with original VGA the update really makes a difference, and brings it almost to original component-like levels. Of course, YMMV.
