I am really curious on your above statement..i guess if all the lcd tv is created equal...i might be as well be buying the china brand lcd tv...and most of the videophile reviewers for the different models will be the same too (which is not true..as different model been rated differently by those videophile reviewers)...wonder if that statement is made out from your disappoinment that most people keep buying the lcd tv and start enjoying the HD worlds....which will never be redundant if u do own the xbox 360 or PS3...and can afford either the HD-DVD or BD movies..now, u r making me laugh on such a childish statement....
Spot on! rclxms.gif

Anyway, after reading that statement about crawlers where the wordings ar bigger on each side couple of days ago, I've been trying to detect the alleged flaw on my 42 incher Sharp lcd but fail to notice it. Is there something wrong with my set tongue.gif rolleyes.gif

If you're looking at 40" then Sony has that size. Brands like Samsung, Sharp, etc are 42". All the mentioned brands has at least two HDMI port. The new Samsung comes with three if I'm not mistaken. Expect to pay more for Sony though. biggrin.gif

Just switched from Sharp LC42BX5M to Sony's KLV40-V300A couple of days ago. So far I'm very impress with this unit. Anyway, this model supports 1080p and I'm able to choose 1080p on my 360 and the tv indicates that it's running on 1080p. Now can someone explain to me how is this possible when this model is not a full-HD panel?

By the way I've got a brand new Sharp LC37PX5M coming my way very soon. Getting it either before or after merdeka. Anyone interested can PM me. Will sell it at an attractive price rclxms.gif

ganaz, how mnuchie u wanna sell?

Not a gimmick but more or less a down scaling process. Found out that the unit is able to receive 1080p signal but will downscale it 768p heh heh heh.

Anyway I'm looking at 4.2k for the Sharp PX5

Added on August 27, 2007, 8:43 pmAwww man, lady luck must be with me now. I've just walked away with a Samsung LA32S81B at a lucky draw...w00t! rclxms.gif

No wonder Sharp's current LCD tv drop price. You can get the LC42PX5 for less than 6k nowdays.

Sharp First-to-Market with 100-Hz/120-Hz Full High-Definition Television

Market-first is part of new Sharp AQUOS Slim-line Design LCD TV range, promising both superior quality and aesthetics

Sharp, launched its first 100-Hz/120-Hz Full High-Definition TV - the Sharp AQUOS A83 Slim-line Design Series. The company also extended its portfolio of widescreen, 1080p AQUOS LCD TVs with the launch of the Sharp AQUOS A63 Slim-line Design and A53 WXGA Series, bringing a total of nine new models to market; and unveiled a range of upcoming audio devices.

The Sharp AQUOS A83 Slim-line Design Series represents a technological breakthrough in consumer HDTV choice. With a high frame rate of 100-Hz/120-Hz on a Full High-Definition TV, viewers can experience all the pleasures of a Full HDTV experience, and still enjoy smooth images and flicker-free analogue videos.

This is a result of Sharp's Fine Motion Advanced Technology, which uses a unique algorithm to create intermediary frames and double the number of frames-per-second on conventional video; and in turn, increasing the frame rate from 50/60 to 100/120, giving analogue video the smooth, flicker-free experience on the A83 and A53 Series. Sharp's new Advanced Super View (ASV) LCD was also developed to ensure that high-speed moving visuals - such as sports scenes and scrolling text - remain distinct and clear.

According to Mr Koji Domoto, Managing Director of Sharp-Roxy Sales (Singapore) Pte Ltd, "Legacy technology - with up to 60-Hz frame rate on Full HD TV - meant that consumers had to choose between Full HDTV features and ultra-high-quality analogue video. The Sharp AQUOS A83 Slim-line Design Series changes everything for the consumer by offering impeccable experiences in both digital and analogue video."

"This is very timely for Singapore as MediaCorp readies to roll out its first HDTV commercial channel in the last quarter of this year," he added. "And with Singapore in the process of implementing nation-wide HDTV adoption, consumers can now purchase a future-proof HD TV set that also provides excellent analogue video quality during this transition period."

Manufactured in Sharp's state-of-the-art Kameyama LCD panel factory in Kameyama, Japan, the new range of LCD HDTV series boosts several other features including:

- Dynamic Contrast - a high contrast ratio of 10,000:1 in the A83 and A63 Series enhances clarity and the definition of the color black, resulting in more vivid colors and more realistic pictures with fine gradations.

- RGB Plus - the addition of a Crimson Red color to the conventional RGB (Red Green Blue) spectrum adds depth to the images with a deep red wavelength, and enables the reproduction of neutral colors, such as that of translucent clear natural skin or healthy skin.

- A comprehensive range of connectivity options.

Sharp's Kameyama plant is the world's first 8th Generation LCD factory, where 8th Generation glass substrates - optimal for the production of 40-inch-class and 50-inch-class LCD models - are used. A pinnacle of R&D and mass production, the plant also emphasizes environmental conservation through the use of environment-friendly materials such as non-halogen resins in the TVs and 100% recyclable paper in the packaging.

Even when turned off, the A83 and A63 Slim-line Design Series is pleasing to the eye. With an ultra-thin 95-mm body - the slimmest in Sharp's existing LCD TV portfolio - and a narrow frame, the Sharp AQUOS Slim-line Design Series is not only a technological masterpiece, but also an elegant centerpiece for the modern living room and the bedroom.

According to Mr Hirokazu Kubo, Deputy General Manager of Sharp Corporation's LCD Digital Systems Division in Japan who was in Singapore for the official product launch, "as the world leader in LCD technology, Sharp prides itself on unparalleled excellence in LCD engineering and technology. The AQUOS range has always been recognized for its superior quality, and today, we are pleased to launch a Slim-line Design range that not only raises the bar in video quality, but also in simple elegance."

To allow easy access to connectivity options when mounted on a wall, the A83 Series and the 46-inch and 42-inch models in the A63 Series comes with side terminal input and output channels including HDMITM inputs, component, composite, S-video, a dedicated PC input and RS-232C for system control. The HDMITM input channels are compatible with 1080p signals from Blu-ray and advanced gaming devices. Additionally, these models also have digital audio output channels that deliver high-quality audio, providing a 5.1 channel surround sound experience.

Upcoming Audio Players

Sharp also unveiled an upcoming range of audio players including a Home Theatre System, an iPod Docking Station and a Bluetooth Station.

The Sharp AQUOS A83 and A63 Slim-line Design Series, as well as the Sharp AQUOS A53 WXGA Series will be available in Singapore and Malaysia by the end of September 2007, and in other Asian cities by the end of the year. Each of the three Series comprises three models of different screen sizes.

I'm not so sure if you can call it a gimmick lerr. U see, it supports 1080p but outputs it in the native panel resolution. Still you will be able to set 1080p in you xbox360 setting which I wasn't able to do with my previous 42" Sharp thumbup.gif
