Yes Kelvin does blu ray (have a few more coming from him soon). It is cheaper from Amazon but I ordered through him to stay away from my credit cards at the current momment. He was charging RM170 for Superman returns. Was in Singapore recently and bought 2 Blue rays recently (Pearl Harbour, and Black Hawk Down and several HD-DVD (don't have the Xbox hd dvd player but getting soon from either Japan or US hopefully soon, sourced in UK all sold out on the player) titles including, The Mummy, Ray, Friday Night Lights.

Slowing building my AV set looking at either a set of KeF IQ5 or Acoutisc Energy Aegis Neo or Mission speakers (was initially going with Aego T's) but nothing beats floor stand speakers and moving all my console and Philips TV to the living room. AV receiever will either be the Marantz but try hard to find the Sony STR-DA1200ES
*
U r rite..get the floor standing speaker..Mission should be OK...KEF will be better...but the most important thing make sure that your receiver rated power output can support it..why not try Denon for receiver...let your ears guide your judgement...and final note...make sure all of the 7 speaker made by the same manufacturer, easier to be positioned n tuned...

DA1200ES is a really good receiver. Magazines seem to like it. Yamahas VX2600 is not bad for your range.

that sony is a good receiver, but it only support 7 channel (6.1) and only upconvert analog input to component output , compared with few new receiver from denon and onkyo, that support 8 channel(7.1) with upconverting all input through hdmi...

Thanks

Not sure if this is anyone's cup of tea, but finally i have access to those HD videos the stores like Best Denki and SonyStyle are using to promote their HDTVs. They are stored in makeshift HDDs that are sent over with their display units, and used to run in loops to showcase the HDTV clarity of their TVs. They are 1080i in nature, and i have the opportunity to copy/download these test/reference HD files off the HDDs from both Mediaplex and SonyStyle tomorrow. I already have Sony Europe Bravia X Full HD "Explosion of Color" HDTV shocase video files in 720p, and they look phenomenal running off my laptops connected to my Bravia. I can only drool at the anticipation of how it would look on my own unit once i get it home to my portable drive tomorrow.

Hi all ! I'm new here. Hope u guys give ur precious opinions !
Just want to compare 3 model below. This is the 3 Final candidates from wat I've research for 2 weeks.

1) Sharp Aquos LC37BX5M or LC37BX6M (side speaker)
2) LG LG-42LC2R
3) Samsung LA40R71B

Sharp is the world renown lcd maker. So i didnt doubt the quality. But the problem is the 37inch screen. Is the screen size too small for my living room. My distance from my sofa from the tv is 13feet. So is it 2 small for it ? Currently using a 29inch CRT mon. bysquashy from LYN is selling RM6899 for the 37BX6M and i saw in the paper HengLee electronics is selling 37BX5M for RM5899.

LG is the cheapest (RM) among all. But i dunno the quality for the lcd. My brother saw it at HSL and he claim is not bad.

Samsung is good in the design but heard some rumours that is not stable or such. Then the dynamic contrast is 5000, but actually the real contrast level is about 1200. The price is quite high also !

My family and I watch Astro almost everyday. So do i need 2 buy a video scaler such as DVDO or Cypress video scaler to upscale the Astro ? Cause from wat i heard is not nice 2 watch if using analog composite output.

TQ and ur R welcome 2 put down any suggestion and ur precious xp with ur HDTV !!!!

Hi yeewensmc,
Will check the price with the dealer about HengLee's low price, will update my price accordingly as I haven't sold any of them yet, so the price was based on the price when I started this thread, thanks biggrin.gif

As to which HDTV is very subjective and personal. Ultimately, what is pleasing to your eyes may not be for another. Stand or sit at a distance you would normally watch and let your eyes do the judgement. I personally did not go for any of the above but went with a Philips 42" smile.gif

if he would get a 1080p plasma he'd be spending twice the amount of money (PRO FHD-1)

2x 24incher and 3x 17 incher 3840x2224 res..beat westinghouse's quad 1080p by 64 lines... credit where credits due... 30 inchers none yet

For me plasma refresh like a 60/65Hz crt ... 50/52 inchers are just 1/2 of 1080p pixels for similiar price of the 46v. The rare 1080p plasmas are 2x price... all could not stand the refresh.. not to mention, plasma are power hogs.

coming 120Hz LCD even better... but 60Hz does fine by me...

Most bracket goes from RM200-RM400 and the installation cost will be RM150-RM300 depending on model.

Brackets are usually extras but the Philips comes with the brackets should you wish to hang on the wall. Make sure the wall is solid and not some flaky plaster as the LCD might just drop...
