Hi yeewensmc,
Will check the price with the dealer about HengLee's low price, will update my price accordingly as I haven't sold any of them yet, so the price was based on the price when I started this thread, thanks  biggrin.gif

I saw it at the star newspaper few days ago. It stated 3days only. But i doubt it cause every few weeks i'll saw the same old ad on the newspaper again.
Thinking of buying from you. Must discuss with my brother and my parents. I'll go to the UE3 electronics shop a take a look around. Survey survey ... thumbup.gif

As to which HDTV is very subjective and personal.  Ultimately, what is pleasing to your eyes may not be for another.  Stand or sit at a distance you would normally watch and let your eyes do the judgement. I personally did not go for any of the above but went with a Philips 42" smile.gif
*
Philips ? I saw one Plasma at best denki. Quite nice. Got game mode somemore. Can boost up the bass and the treble when playing games. Dunno tats the one u have. Thanks for the suggestion. thumbup.gif

Anymore recommedation ?

Just want to compare 3 model below. This is the 3 Final candidates from wat I've research for 2 weeks.

1) Sharp Aquos LC37BX5M or LC37BX6M (side speaker)
2) LG LG-42LC2R
3) Samsung LA40R71B

Sharp is the world renown lcd maker. So i didnt doubt the quality. But the problem is the 37inch screen. Is the screen size too small for my living room. My distance from my sofa from the tv is 13feet. So is it 2 small for it ? Currently using a 29inch CRT mon. bysquashy from LYN is selling RM6899 for the 37BX6M and i saw in the paper HengLee electronics is selling 37BX5M for RM5899.

LG is the cheapest (RM) among all. But i dunno the quality for the lcd. My brother saw it at HSL and he claim is not bad.

Samsung is good in the design but heard some rumours that is not stable or such. Then the dynamic contrast is 5000, but actually the real contrast level is about 1200. The price is quite high also !

My family and I watch Astro almost everyday. So do i need 2 buy a video scaler such as DVDO or Cypress video scaler to upscale the Astro ? Cause from wat i heard is not nice 2 watch if using analog composite output.

TQ and ur R welcome 2 put down any suggestion and ur precious xp with ur HDTV !!!!

@Zio,

Well almost negotiating on the speaker cables and the amp stand cause I want it cherry wood hehe. If all goes well they will come in next Sat do the calibration and set up concealing the wires.

Yup 1080i is good enough unless u stand close to the TV. Sorry I think that Bravia is 40" not 42" but String can confirm on the size smile.gif

Well by then maybe the price of Yamaha VX1700 will come down. Really depends what you want the AV receiver to be used for. Going with Marantz for the to buy the Marantz 7300 series which is a CD player made in Japan. If I had the money would have gone with Daliant speakers or Sonus Fabers hehe. Other alternative on AV receivers are Denon but I am not fond of them.

I went to Sharp this morning to clarify this issue, the price that HengLee is offering is way too low, further more HengLee is not registered under Sharp, so they think most probably the unit is not legitimate or for sure its out of stock (gimmic). You can always call Sharp to verify. smile.gif

New PX series has arrived, will update my thread accordingly this evening (too much back log in the office, no time smile.gif ), the quality is amazing, mean while, you can surf Sharp's website for more info on PX series.

Just getting it for the inputs really because I want to connect everything to it. And also to sorta future proof myself in the event that I do get a 1080p TV.

It fitted the profile of what I was looking for earlier and I don't need the upscaling feature that came with the Yamaha that zeliant was recommending.

Actually all this started because I was looking for a component video switcher. Mana tahu got poisoned to look for an AV receiver...

Okay the Marantz 5001 has 4 component inputs 2 hdmi in version 1.2. and one hdmi out. Once it is set up will pm you if you want to see how it sounds with a PS3 with Blu Ray and Xbox360 with HD DVD(hopefully coming from Nagoya, sold out in London)

for those that want to know more about the bravia x2500 (JP) series.. advantage over the v2500 series or x200A, panel same contrast as x200A (but v2500 higher, 1800:1), 3 HDMI input, component/vga at 1080p/D5, support xxYCC colour, and have the newer bravia pro engine with DRC-MFv2.5 for non 1080p signals ... I guess the rest of Asia are getting the short change in specs.. while paying more.

i know astro looks bad on LCD.

got myself samsung 32R71B last week. But i dint know it's THAT bad.

My mum was like "Why spend so much money and looks worse than CRT?"
I cannot counter her on this one. Malu laaa...I know watching DVD w/ upscaler can project 1080i, but most of my time is watching ASTRO. sad.gif

Then, these Sony S-series coming out with ASTRO enchancement mode. A bit regret.

Did anyone manage to come out with a solution to this astro crappy prob?
