QUOTE(domokun @ Dec 31 2009, 05:14 PM) Just got off the phone with Digi's BB Tech Guru, he said no need to change the APN settings..it should be left blank! As DIGI BIS's configuration is running on the background + its fully automatic! Weird, I double confirm with 2 D'chat agents and Digi tech guy who called up to confirm that my BB bill, 3 of them all told must change to blackberry.net else I'll get charge. I did so and it stopped charging me. Different people said different story...If ya wanna stream Youtube faster, then only change APN to digistream.net QUOTE(little_pixie @ Dec 31 2009, 05:22 PM) Up to you, setup on PC sure faster than on your BB. Some settings like signature, filter can only be change on digi blackberry. |

Mine was blank at first but saw the folks here advised to set as blackberry.net so I changed it but still got charged. No matter it is blank, blackberry.net, diginet, etc, BIS always stays connected. So it's hard to tell whether will get charge or not, well since I'm with blackberry.net now, I'll choose to stick to it.

I set mine as default and so far (after intense use of data) my bill for this month (Dec 2009) is only RM60 plus.. (because I have another phone for calls) Edit: In terms of voice usage, I only use BB for making light phone calls + smses.. This post has been edited by croomaniac: Dec 31 2009, 05:10 PM |

QUOTE(ching4ever @ Dec 31 2009, 06:13 PM) Hi, I've just signed up for the DIGI Smartplan and called up their CS. This is where I'm a bit confused: 1. CS Officer thru D'chat ask to change the APN setting to blackberry.net 2. Tech officer from Digi called to leave it blank. According to him, BIS will be working from the background. So not sure which is correct. But if you wish to watch youtube then need to change to digistream. If wish to connect to your BB to PC as a modem then will need to set it as digi.net (This will be PAYU). Am also looking for a good browser? Anyone has a good browser to recommend? I've tried downloading the facebook app thru my 'ONYX' but was informed that it's not compatible with my BB. This post has been edited by rmage: Jan 1 2010, 01:14 PM |

Guys,
I have a simple question b4 decided to subscribe to Digi BIS smart plan. If I am using Curve 8250 which only runs on EDGE network. When I am using the BIS, can I still receive call? AFAIK, one of my friend's work as network planner in DiGi tell me you can only do one thing on EDGE network.. eg. if u connected to the internet or browsing the web via ur phone, you can't receive or make any calls and vice versa. Thanks |

Thanks Meaning if ur downloading some stuffs & suddenly a calls come in, ur download process will actually be put on hold while u answer ur calls. I believe majority of BB user are on EDGE mode for battery conserving! |

BIS is depend on your network which means you are actually on the same line. If you can't receive call then you can't use BIS either. I actually still reciving email while I'm on call or vice versa or no worries.

Since most BIS will do on EDGE, IMHO BB Curve 8250 will suite most user for email, social networking etc.... and Digi Smart PLan for BIS will be charging PAYU for tethering.
In fact, I tested my friend's BB Bold tethering as modem and compare to my Huawei e220 modem. The speed of e220 is faster using the same sim and service providder (celcom). Look at it, most of us will normally upgrade our mobile after average of 2 years usage. I believe even if I bought Bold 9700 now, two years later I definately going to upgrade another latest version of BB devices again. Anyone can convince me NOT to buy BOLD? LOL I am contemplating between Curve 8250 and Bold 9700. I am totally new user for BB. BB is my choice of upgrading after been using iphone for 2 years. Get hold of email and other social networking is my main concern compared to voice call. Digi smart plan seems like the 'affordable' way of getting BIS compared to maxis and celcom which include those Wireless broadband services. |
