Guys,
I have a simple question b4 decided to subscribe to Digi BIS smart plan.

If I am using Curve 8250 which only runs on EDGE network. When I am using the BIS, can I still receive call?

AFAIK, one of my friend's work as network planner in DiGi tell me you can only do one thing on EDGE network.. eg. if u connected to the internet or browsing the web via ur phone, you can't receive or make any calls and vice versa.

Thanks

Since most BIS will do on EDGE, IMHO BB Curve 8250 will suite most user for email, social networking etc.... and Digi Smart PLan for BIS will be charging PAYU for tethering.

In fact, I tested my friend's BB Bold tethering as modem and compare to my Huawei e220 modem. The speed of e220 is faster using the same sim and service providder (celcom).

Look at it, most of us will normally upgrade our mobile after average of 2 years usage. I believe even if I bought Bold 9700 now, two years later I definately going to upgrade another latest version of BB devices again.

Anyone can convince me NOT to buy BOLD? LOL

I am contemplating between Curve 8250 and Bold 9700. I am totally new user for BB.

BB is my choice of upgrading after been using iphone for 2 years. Get hold of email and other social networking is my main concern compared to voice call. Digi smart plan seems like the 'affordable' way of getting BIS compared to maxis and celcom which include those Wireless broadband services.

@cheewooi,
How long had been you waited?
Normally activation is very fast. But, there are some unlucky case that strecth to longer period.
MNP will also take longer time.

What you can do now is just keep calling Digi to activate your line faster.

I dont think there is anything wrong with the device.

I ported to Digi from Maxis on Sunday evening at Digi Centre in Pavillion.

Last night (Tuesday) I got SMS notification from both DiGi and Maxis said that my line from Maxis going to disabled and Digi line will be activated.

I called DiGi Helpline last night and they told me I need to wait for 24 hour after my line activated in order for BIS to be activated.

What I can do now is just wait till tonight 8pm and hope for miracle to happen.

Else... don't know what to do...LOL

Yesterday, the helpline told me they unable to check when the BIS will be activated. Normally in 24 hour. They even warn me not to use my blackberry as tethered modem LOL...

After the activation, they ask me bring my phone to their dealer shop to setup the phone....that's weird...I wonder why not they just post it on the website how to configure blackberry devices...

All right guys, I manage to resolve my blackberry issue. Hopefully this tips might help you..

I headed to Taipan Digi Store and met with one of the nicest and most patient staff there. Can't remember his name but i think it's Azarin.

This is what he did:

1) First thing you need to check is to make sure that you have all of the services in your service book. Go to options > Advance Options > Service Book.
Here you will see a lot of services like ICQ - BBIM, Blackberry Maps, etc

2) If there is none, the digi staff will try to force the service books settings to your phone.

3) Pull out the battery and sim card. Put it back after 2-3 minutes.

Give it a try now.

However for mine, I still had problems so he called the Blackberry guys to check, but  still could not solve the problem..so i went home frustrated.
6) Now here is the weird part, for my APN settings (previously blackberry.net), I reset to default to make it blank ,save it, then turn off the bb and uplug the battery and sim card.

7) I then put in a my Wife SIM card (NON BB) into the BB, surf the web for a couple of seconds, turn off the phone, took out the batter and swap it with my own sim card.

1) I then turn on the BB. You will receive a message saying that your device is registed with BB....and guess what....able to connect to Facebook, Maps, etc.
It's really weird.
When I change the APN settings and entered blackberry.net... it did not work again.

Hopes this helps.

Guess what, this morning I received SMS from DiGi note that they will call me in a while. But I waited till 3pm, there's still no call from DiGi.

I decided to give the helpline a call. After all the verification and everything, the helpline told me they will escalate this case in 24 hour time. I told them, I called the helpline yesterday and they told me in 24 hour time, my BIS will be activated...

Well the helpline again help me to verify again. Then they asked me what plan I subscribed to. I told them it's BIS RM58 plan. They were so surprised cause the plan is not in my account. They told me, most probably the dealer missed out the submission or subscribe to wrong plan. rclxub.gif

I was like WTF? Then I query them what plan I am using now? They will get back to me on this and refer to their billing department. I warn them I not going to pay anything extra other then the plan I subscribed to and I had proof of receipt with me.

The DiGi representative I went to was Latest Communication in Pavillion. whistling.gif

Guess they are playing the waiting game now. There's nothing I can do but just wait. I even tweeted DiGi telco. What they requested was the dealer name.

I just want BIS, is that hard? sigh.. doh.gif

Sorry for long rant...

The main cause might be their representative overlook your application. You should call up Latest Communication during application stage.
I still remember my Digi representative keep constant communication with my during application stage. They did called me to inform my BIS already activated while I already enjoying it.

Can really blame Digi on this matter.

Mikelanding,
I don't wanna blame any one, I just want my case to be solved. I knew this part is their representative (dealer's) issue. I just wanna let them know beforehand I am not going to bear any cost incurred during these period. It's not fair to me as a customer.

There's nothing much I can do but just wait... whistling.gif

lets be realistic we normally change phones like every 2 years... so how long would u want ur BB to last?
*
Yeah at some point I do agree with you. Every 2 years we change phone..

Anyhow I am using DiGi BIS now (Manage to get my BIS activated after I give DiGi a screw on their tweets and helpline last night!) and Celcom 60 Wireless BB (seperate USB modem...

Thinking of cancelling Celcom Wireless BB.

@Hi Cheewooi.
As far as I understand from your unbill activity. You were being charged for blackberry.net on 12 - 13 January which is the day your BB service got some issue and it is not being activated yet.

and from your last post regarding your activation of BIS
That means your BIS was activated yesterday which is 14 January. From the unbill record we can see that you were being charge PAYU because your APN is set to diginet(maybe) and not blackberry.net

My suggestion is:-

Change APN setting to blackberry.net now.... do some heavy browsing. after 1 hour check the unbilled transaction. If still being charged, you go bising kaw kaw to their CS..her her her... and regarding the previous charged.. I think u still kaw tim with them to waive the charge in next billed.  thumbup.gif wish u luck then....
*
My APN is all the time blackberry.net after I read some thread that if you use diginet for your APN, you'll be charged. I will do another check on my bill again later. Anyhow I wonder what's the GPRS charges at RM0.10?

yup.. me too
i believe they are going to standardize the APN setting for all users to digistrm and no more blackberry.net

U guys know what, I got call from DiGi today to change the APN name to digistrm. apparently I can watch youtube. It says error loading media. I tried XENOZU player, it prompt that the service provider had block the packet.

So... I called up DiGi helpline, they advice me change the APN name from "digistrm" to "digistrm.net"

Anybody encounter this before?
