Guys, I'm on value plan 50 & Family Plus 30 with 99 unlimited data plan. Do I still enjoy special price? Assuming if I get iphone 3g 8g. How much would I need to pay and is there any so-called prepayment? Tks

@sankai80,
Please check Post #1 for rates. Also, U won't be entitled a cheaper set unless U unsubscribe your current RM99 Unlimited access plan and resign on the iData 3 plan.

I've been checking my Hotlink statement and they have been charging me 1 cent to 10 cent GPRS charge occasionally when I have my 500mb (which is obviously not used up finish)

I'm gonna call them today and find out why. Just to inform others if they not aware of this.

I checked my Hotlink statement too. I get charged 1 cent everytime i use data (3G/EDGE/GPRS) which should not be the case since 500mb is free every month. Going to call Maxis tmr and ask about this.

Btw, anyone knows how much Maxis supposed to charge if wanna upgrade Hotlink sim card from old one (about 2 - 3 years old) to 3G sim card? Some say RM10, some say RM25... just want to clarify.

i don't mean to be crude, but surely that is a rhetorical question? if you have already paid such a gross amount for a phone, will an additional rm15 do anymore harm? please spare me that recession excuse.

and assuming, that i have told you casually, that it is rm10, and upon arrival at the maxis branch, you found that it is rm25 instead, are you gonna throw a hissy fit at the poor maxis personnel, because some random bloke from LYN told you otherwise? does the rm15 justify the need of you having a faster 3G connection?

@LaiN87 & shadowcaster,
I believe Maxis minus the total amount charged and then recredits the amount back to ur account at the end of the month. Anyhow since ur calling Maxis for clarification, perhaps U could let us know what the final outcome is.

Okay i called Maxis. They said the system is confused and records my data charges as regular charges instead of under the free 500mb package. They will investigate and fix this issue within 5 - 7 working days.

@nokia2003, I'm not saying i'm cheapskate or whatever when enquiring about the upgrading charges of the sim card. Just needed some info as part of customer rights so i wont be duped you know... especially nowadays with Maxis staff in different branches giving different kinds of information. Anyway i confirmed with Maxis again and its RM25 to upgrade to a 3G sim card.

Thanks.

Just wanted to ask for some advice from all the sifus here. I recently booked the 3GS (1 mth waiting period) and was told that I can still change the plan and contract period upon receiving the iPhone.

During the sign-up I indicated my preferred plan was iValue 1 with 24 mths contract.

My situation is such... been a Maxis postpaid user for more than 10 years so the 24mths is no big issue in my opinion. Afterall the savings on the iPhone is more desirable. Currently I am Value Plus 80 plan.

Knowing I am a app, gaming, email user and social networking freak, I am a tad worried whether the iValue plan is sufficient as I do not want to incur excessive charges for over usage.

So my question is:
Should I stick with iValue 1 or can you kind fellas advice a better option?

Thanks in advance!

so you're worry about the 500MB given each is not sufficient for your usage? if you look here from what nokia2003 has stated, even 250MB is quite sufficient for casual surfing. if you are doing a lot of apps download etc then maybe you should opt for higher data package eg. iValue 2 with 1GB.

Thanks teikwing. I also heard that the 500mb data is pro-rated each day... is that true?

Yea I am contemplating on getting either IValue2 or stick with my Value Plan and just add iData3 but that would make the iPhone more expensive though.

500MB for each monthly cycle, you can keep track of your usage via Settings -> Usage -> Data.

well, depends on your usage but it's advisable to take iData if you still would like to enjoy your benefits under Value Plan, eg. call rates, combined SMS charges, credit sharing. you're still able to get discount on the phone (lesser) and enjoy the data bundle each month under iData.

you're most welcomed. smile.gif

Under iData 1, you are purchasing the iPhone for its full retail price without any sort of subsidies.
It’s a non contract plan but you have to pay RM30 monthly in order to obtain 250MB of data.
Since it is not tied to any contract, you have the flexibility to stop the monthly fee anytime you like or change to another iData eg. iData2 or iData3 if you feel that in certain months you require more data than usual. You can go the other way round as well if you require less data eg. downgrading from iData3 back to iData1.
There is a statement quoted from maxis website, iData plan can also be purchased separately. The price of the iPhone will be at RRP is exactly what I’ve explained above.
Unfortunately this plan has been suspended indefinitely until further notice. cry.gif

Those bought under Hotlink plan - even after your free 500MB data has been activated, do check your account from time to time. Mine is still showing a bunch of 1 to 2 cents data charges.

I also call their Hotline to confirm my starting date so I know when to reset my monthly usage. Stupid CS told me that 500MB is for one year! Dunno whether to laugh or scream at her.

Now trying to find out why I am still incurring data charges
