I have both maxis postpaid and prepaid numbers.
I wish to buy the iphone under the hotlink rm2990 for 32G to enjoy the FREE 500mb per month. But what if later I decided to put my postpaid sim inside the iphone 3gs.
I know as the iphone 3gs is officially unlocked it can be used with any sim so no problem for the maxis postpaid number.
However, under the postpaid number that I did not buy the iphone 3gs with, will it be able to subscribe to iData 1 (250mb) and iData 2 (500mb) later on?
I called the maxis customer service a few times and different cs told me different answers.
Answer One:
Although I buy the iphone from maxis and use it in maxis network, the iphone 3gs purchased is somehow associated with the phone number you used to make the purchase. Hence my postpaid number did not purchase any iphone 3gs. Since I opted to purchase using the hotlink number I cannot use the iphone in my postpaid number and then opt for iData 1 or iData 2 as a value added services. In this case, my only choices are like any normal nokia phone – rm5 (1mb), rm8 (5mb) or the rm99 (unlimited) etc. iDatas are all contracts.

Answer Two:
Since I bought it outright I’m not abide to any contract. I can hop from one iData 1 to iData 2 and use these iDatas as a value added services for my postpaid number with the iphone 3gs that I bought using a hotlink deal. Eg. I can subscribe iData 2 for one month and then change as I like to iData 1 or even subscribe nothing at all the next month.

Can someone with maxis insider get a thorough clarification? (Tinkerbel)? Please HELP icon_question.gif

First off, iData could be subscribed without contract! And secondly, y can't u hop between sim cards? unless iData is exclusively meant for iPhone???

I believe the lady in Answer One told me iData2 and iData3 cannot be subscribed without contract only iData1 is without contract. She meant you cannot subscribed to iData as a value added service.
I don't want to hop between sim because I'm afraid the sim tray will get loose.
Well, yeah she told me iData is exclusively only for iphone. Any other phone like nokia cannot subscribed to iData.

I am really confused different maxis customer service told me different stories. mad.gif

If maxis do NOT allow iData to be subscribed as a value added service for Value Plus plans, what happens to those people that enter into 12 months iData contract (after 12 months)?

Can they continue to subscribe iData without contract or enter into another 12 months contract or are only left with rm5 (1mb), rm8 (5mb) or the rm99 (unlimited) normal other phones data packages.

I’m considering from the point of those who do not upgrade to new iphone comes June/july 2010.

can someone explain to me how iData1 works? (even thou currently it is suspended)

becos it seems like a contract...but it is a contractless plan...im confuse :s

Under iData 1, you are purchasing the iPhone for its full retail price without any sort of subsidies.
It’s a non contract plan but you have to pay RM30 monthly in order to obtain 250MB of data.
Since it is not tied to any contract, you have the flexibility to stop the monthly fee anytime you like or change to another iData eg. iData2 or iData3 if you feel that in certain months you require more data than usual. You can go the other way round as well if you require less data eg. downgrading from iData3 back to iData1.
There is a statement quoted from maxis website, iData plan can also be purchased separately. The price of the iPhone will be at RRP is exactly what I’ve explained above.
Unfortunately this plan has been suspended indefinitely until further notice. cry.gif
