Hi All,
I'd been missing for 24hours and voila the amount of messages to catch up with. Anyhow, am glad Maxis' announcement is good for everyone.

Just a note of precaution (since loads was asking about the plans), the iPhone plans are separate from the ValuePlus plans and it cannot be merged. Also, ask urself if you really want to sign up on the iValue Plans because in that plan, data is data, voice is voice and they're separate.

@D.Sync,
Yes.. that is the price for the 'prepaid' plan - please refer to Post #1 for information.

@janson_kaniaz,
I've tried paying my Maxis bills at the Maxis centre through my CC and no additional charges were incurred. Am not sure about this RM200 though. No, Machines do not charge additional fees either.

@teikwing,
I've checked with my Maxis sources (and they're more accurate than the CS) - the RM99 Unlimited Plan is also capped at 3GB.

@teikwing,
The benefit of taking up the "prepaid" plan is that U don't bind urself into a 24 month contract. If U calculate the total cost spent on the phone (inc of monthly charges) and if u don't think the plan is suitable then i think it may be wiser to spend the additional RM400 for a non-contracted iPhone 3GS biggrin.gif

@djkeoni,
Er.. the above comment was meant for U to digest too tongue.gif

@teikwing,
Er.. but if U take the RM100 plan x 24 months = RM2400 + the price of the phone... now, that's more than RM400 - then again.. most of us probably will utilise part of the RM2400 since we're based in KL biggrin.gif

Plus 24 months is a bit long lah.. before we can even say 12 months, we'll want the new upgraded 4th Gen iPhone liow tongue.gif

@MrKong,
Maxis knows how much data we use; and there's also a log in the phone - U can check it but some people think it's not accurate. I haven't got my bill so I can't check.

@teikwing,
CAQ! HahAHahHAhahHA Ur gonna get some spammers asking U what CAQ is tongue.gif And absolutely right about the 24 months contract; I rather not be bounded by one but mine's an AU set so heheheh it's not going to affect me I guess *gulps*

@davidgary73,
Looks like U got extra Mods here, U and teikwing and well, on rare occasions, U have me to police too tongue.gif See.. we luv u and help u with ur 'job' too biggrin.gif Now, don't we deserve a drink on u? wub.gif

@MrKong,
A typical US TV series is 350MB. So do a rough gauge how much 500MB is. We cannot really give you a gauge.

@jonest,
I was bz attending to some family stuff the whole day hence wasn't online; missed all the excitement but well am glad it was good news for most of U biggrin.gif

I can't comment much about which plan is most suited for U but U should know based on your existing call plan and existing usage but like U said signing a 24 month plan is not something I want so if it were up to me, I would prefer the outright plans biggrin.gif Also, who knows - u may just want an upgrade come Jul 2010 tongue.gif

@neekun,
Act.. when I activated my data plan, the CS on the phone (and i spoke with 2 different ones) as well as the fella over the counter [due to some issues, I couldn't activate my plan via phone so had to walk-in] said it was unlimited, as in unlimited.

My Maxis insider however warned me about the 3GB capped cause apparently some customers have kena it oredi. He did however say if we don't use it to download stuff, chances are 3GB is much more than enough and I've a feeling he may just be right biggrin.gif

Hence I decided to warn the rest of the forummers here but some can choose not to believe me and believe the CS tongue.gif

@-XIII-,
Er.. it was explained earlier the RM179 came from :-

ValuePlus80 + RM99 Unlimited Data Plan = RM179.

@jonest,
I don't think U can compare the telcos with an actual mobile provider. P1 is not accessible everywhere at the moment mah. Also, I'm going to check my usage for the next 3 months, if it's within 500MB each month then I will consider switching back to the RM50 for 500MB plan instead of taking the RM99 unlimited plan biggrin.gif

@teikwing,
I thought CAQ - Consumer/Customer Asked Questions ! hAHahAHhaHAhahAHah..

@manchurr,
Am sure Maxis will allow you to port your number over. All U need to do is switch from Celcom to Maxis, register as a new user, keep your old number and buy the iPhone with iValue 1 plan.

By doing that, U will also need to sign a 24 month contract with Maxis.

@=Hanxz=,
Never too late. Start charging your "customers" extra 10% for jailbreaking services and soon U'll haf the $ *smile*

@DikkieD,
The iPhones distributed by Maxis are officially unlocked so U should have no problems using other SIMs with it biggrin.gif

@teikwing,
I've no idea which post of mine you're referring too - I too suddenly working OT - got so many tabs open and am just responding one after another until I sendiri also blur ! HAhahAH but it's good I was of help smile.gif [don't wanna be seen as spammer mah!] *smiles* Btw the Oakley pouch in good use yet?! biggrin.gif

@manchurr,
oK.. good for U then.

Well.. we're all clear now, right?! biggrin.gif

@teikwing,
You're most welcome. Yes I'm using the Oakley pouch too - and I was pretty much sure it wouldn't be 'undelivered' cause I used Courier - just afraid it be delivered to wrong person onli mah tongue.gif

@hi54ever,
Yes that is absolutely right and the prepaid pack is just RM8.80 so your total investment is merely:

RM2490 + RM8.80 = reasonable IMHO smile.gif

@Kelly_Gabui,
I think there's been a misunderstand. Perhaps the CS thought U be using the prepaid number as ur principal line. If that is the case, Maxis does not offer the RM99 Unlimited Plan to Prepaid Users, only Postpaid.

Assuming after U get the iPhone, U can still use ur current Maxis SIM (postpaid with unlimited plan) on ur phone. U just waste the 500MB free data offered by Maxis on your prepaid plan.

Btw if ur intending to do that, perhaps U can help a friend out - he's got a prepaid SIM and wouldn't mind the 500MB data usage when he's back from AU during the Summer holidays biggrin.gif

@Mr Kong,
It is not possible for us to tell U how much bandwidth LYN takes up! tongue.gif

@gogo2,
In that case, my suggestion is for U to buy a prepaid @ RM8.80 which will enable you to purchase the iPhone. When U get it, just use ur existing postpaid SIM with the iPhone and open the RM99 unlimited plan biggrin.gif

@Mr Kong,
If U don't use YouTube and download emails and go to heavy sites then I guess 500MB should last U for a month. I've a friend who's based in Australia who only has a 300MB plan and it's more than sufficient for her; don't ask me what her usage is like.

Er.. what'd U mean by U got spare?! Spare SIM ah? I think friend's looking for "spare" data package for him to use when he comes back otherwise he's going to have withdrawal symptoms when he gets back ! tongue.gif

@manchurr,
Er.. 2MB? That's helluvalot!

@KENTK3,
If U can afford it go for the 3GS - U will not regret it; it's v much faster... and i mean REALLLLLY V much faster [take my word for it as I've personally compared the 3G with the 3GS]

@dan2020,
Er.. what'd U mean ur account bolted with USB modem plan? The USB modem option is a data option, not applicable for voice. U will need an existing account that's voice option enabled.

@Kelly_Gabui,
You're welcome biggrin.gif Enjoy ur new toy

@Mr Kong,
U can alwiz track ur own usage. Once U have used up the 500MB just disable APN so no data comes in .. the only thing then is that U just use the iPhone as an iPhone lah biggrin.gif

@gogo2,
Sorry I'm not familiar with SME plans but if your voice calls are v limited, U can have the option of:-

1) ValuePlus30 plan + RM99 Unlimited Data Plan = RM129.

The RM30 will be used for your calls + SMS biggrin.gif

@cheaterbug,
Yes that is right - as long as you're a Hotlink user U can get the iPhone outright without any contracts and U will get 500MB FOC data package for the next 12 months.

@Mr Kong,
If U want to use the phone purely on Internet Tethering, the 500MB probably will not be enough. To be on the safe side, U should open an Unlimited Plan. It's hard to gauge because usage is v personal. I didn't dare take the risk so I opened my Unlimited Data Plan. My first bill hasn't come so I haven't been able to check actual usage but i don't think it's too high for this month. Will be tracking it for the next 3 months - if U can wait then I'll update U then biggrin.gif

@DikkieD,
If ur in the NL, Y are U putting in a booking reservation? *confused*

@deitylord,
AFAIK Maxis doesn't give out 'charity' and they're not v good at the CRM - they're good at getting new subscribers but they just don't value their LOYAL customers tongue.gif

And YES I'm v sure about the 3GB cap for the RM99 Unlimited Data Plan. Yes I'm aware there's anothe thread about usage and as I've said and explained previously (I've also explained it several times tonight!) that's the information I got from a very reliable source so if U want to question it and not believe me... by all means, go ahead biggrin.gif Just don't be surprise when ur hit with the bill. Read the T&C and U will find it there biggrin.gif

@Mr Kong,
I am using Maxis - DiGi is NOT available on 3G at the moment though I hear there's a roll out that's being planned or being done. U wanna know if DiGi i stable, please check with neekun. Also, DiGi is on EDGE and not 3G. It's RM68 Unlimited p/month.

Also, I please stop with the one-liners... don't use this forum as a chit-chat conversation but as a place to share and provide information. If U have nothing to share or contribute you'll be seen as spamming and our Mods will have hard time clearing the place..

@cheaterbug,
U could transfer over but U'll lose all the other benefits from your ValuePlus / Family plan. Also, it's not going to be convenient to keep changing SIMS but that is an option for when U wanna do heavy surfing biggrin.gif
