Hahaha ... If you guys wanna make these comparisons then ... my turn
Best record from application to approval and get card ... 4 hours and the worst 2 months. That 4 hours is not even coming from HSBC or even HSBC MC Premier card application.

the 4 hrs you walk in one????

@alexwsk,
I still happen to hold accounts at a few banks.  In fact, my last count, I have just too many CCs !! *grins*  Just don't know which one I should cancel and when I finally decide to cancel they decide to waive my AF and tell me to just leave it be!
*
i also hold accounts from multiple banks, some with RM1 in it, lazy to close, muahhahaha

yep, now i only have cc from 3 banks (5 cards in total)

@alexwsk,
It's good to streamline. I have CC from quite a couple of banks but as mentioned, my primary card is Amex and Citibank.

Maybe it was at a fair like TreatsFair or something like that, that he managed to get his card in 4 hrs !

Last year around September I bought a new car, and one day one of the Public Bank stuff came over my place and asked me to sign some documents regarding the car loan, he also offered me to sign up for credit card. Eventually I also applied for credit card, but until now 9 months have passed, I still haven't received/heard about credit card approval yet.

What can I do? Can I go over to any Public Bank and check for it?

@winners,
Sometimes it's not entirely the banks fault. It could be that the person she lodged the application with held on to it for eons.

Sometimes I feel some cc agents are not reliable. They may put your application on hold if they have achieved the target in that particular month. The will result in a delay. That's why I prefer to apply directly from banks.

@winner,
Yes it's ridiculous. I remember my sister and her boyfriend (now husband) put in an application for an Amex card at Carrefour and since then, we haven't heard from Amex.

We suspect the application wasn't lodged but as to whether or not he did anything, I don't know; my guess is that he just left it.

Won't be surprised if they receive the cards 6 months later. Or else, the cc agent might have quit his job! biggrin.gif

@winner,
Nah.. we don't think the card will ever come. They aren't too bothered anyway. It was because the salesperson was pleading with them they decided to help him by applying.

Oh yes I agree. I put up my JustOne application on the 8th June but CS said the papers was only submitted on the 14th June. I dealt with the bank agent directly who phoned me up. Yeah ... I suspect the guy kept my application for a while.

4 hours was Citibank ... I did not walk in at the fair. They were having a promo @ KLCC at that time. Next was HLB, 12 hours to approval. 1 week to receiving card. Applied 12pm and got call around 10++pm from bank and said it is approved. New branch promo.

2 months .... it was RHB. MBB also took a while but it was close to 2 months, so RHB took the 1st spot.

** Disclaimer. This is my personal experience. Probably other people may have different experience than I do. I probably have different preferences for cc as well due to my spending pattern and needs. So ... I'm not advocating any best cards or worst cards from my stories.

Top 3 cards for me right now

1. HSBC. Good CS but I'm considering to cancel the card coz I don't directly benefit from good CS. Lack of interesting promo.
2. SCB. JustOne. Rebates, rebates, rebates. I can't think of any other reason. Plus, you can use their online facility to pay bills and have it charged to your credit card. Number of payees almost similar to CitiOnline system and more important have the major bills. (e.g. TM, Celcom, Maxis, TNB, Syabas)
3. Alliance Bank. Ugly card design I tell ya. Whoever approved and designed the card should be sent to the firing squard and shot. However, best card after JustOne coz of the rebates.

RM40000/pa if my memory serves me correctly. OCBC Malaysia has one of the lousiest website of all the retail banks in Malaysia.

Hmm... no idea. I got my net salary in HSBC. I believe my company will pay for the charges. I'm alright with HSBC, but the PV a/c charge me RM5/mth. I need the cheque book since HSBC doesn't have a lot of branches/ATM around. Ok, back to CC.

Interested in signing up for a SCB JustOne as well. What's the best way to sign up? Saw the website, and apparently if we call their given number, first 1000 approved will get RM50. Did you get any free gift signing up through the agent?

Just walk-in to any SCB branch. Of couse you can call the CS hotline and SCB will send someone to collect documents from you. But it depends on how efficient the staff handle your application. If you apply directly from the bank, there's no physical freebies except 5000 choice points. Besides, the RM50 early-bird incentive promotion could be already over as the card has been launched for nearly 2 months.

Many years back, I did apply for MBB credit card and after a month no news. So I called them and having being put on hold for quite sometime I and was inform it was still on process so I told them just cancel my application. However early this month I was at Petronas to get Transformer T-Shirt and Cap, an agent approched me to get a MBB card which I opted for Petronas Gold Card and within 2 weeks the card was delivered to my house. And when I call them to activate my card, my call was answered within reasonable time. I would say MBB is good nowadays.

As far as my experience with CC, below are Pros and Cons about my cards for my case:

AMEX Gold Charged Card:
Pros - 3X Turbo and get points at Petrol Station. Also redemption of points for voucher very good when I consider 3X MR. CS is the most curteous. They waive my annual fees every year.
Cons - CS working hours only.

HSBC Plat Visa:
Pros - 24 hours CS and discount at restaurants such as Amarin at Mid Vallet and Sushi King. Recently got promo spend RM5K get free samsonite bag, hope I get one else wasted time charging my expenses to HSBC. Just got my HSBC statement where it came with brochure 5X rewards points at Caltex (but I don't pump at Caltex). During festive seasons get free gift at Midvalley for transaction.
Cons - no cash rebate in general. No automatic AF waiver as policy keep changing but now informed I need to swipe 12 times.

HLB - Plat MC:
Pros - 24 hours CS and so far experience with CS very good as they are very efficient and polite. Platinum Tel contact hardly put on hold. Waive my AF every year.
Cons - No cash rebate. No discount at places that I spend my money.

Alliance Plat Visa:
Pros - Cash back (for petrol too) plus rewards points. Auto AF waiver.
Cons -No discount at places that I spend my money , CS after office hours the staff know next to nuts when they claimed thay have truly 24 hours service.

Direct Access Plat MC:
Pros - free for life, Petrol 2% cash back. Rebates at MPH (cash voucher) and Guardian where I do spend my money. Good CS. Discount at restaurants that I do go to. Free voucher for transaction at Mid Valley during festive season.
Cons: Got to pay for courier charges for vouchers.

Citibank Clearcard:
Pros - good 24 hours CS. Waiving of annual fees easier nowadays.
Cons - No cash rebate. Not many discount nowadays at places that I spend my money. Must SMS to register for offers.

UOB Plat Visa:
Pros - good 24 hours CS. Auto AF waiver.
Cons - No cash rebate. Need more points than others for voucher redemption.

Use to have SCB but they only waived half the AF years back so cancel it. Also years back I got RHB Plat which I recall that it was approved pretty fast but cancel it when they refuse to give me AF waiver. now got RHB Evo but keep in drawer.

As for SCB Just One the cash back at 2% (5% on Friday excellent) for all purchases plus get 1 choice points for every RM2 is great. The other benefit is get Choice Points for money in current account in addition to interest. Is there a limit to maximum cash rebate a year i.e. RM600? If there is a cap of RM600 for cash rebate then Alliance Cash rebate plus RM1= 1 points is better for those spending up to RM5K monthly. Overall this card offer looks great in general but I already got 3 current accounts with other banks and SCB branch at my place the traffic is really bad.

But at least they got freebies from the agent right? biggrin.gif

Besides, I feel insecure submitting application to those cc agents in hypermarkets and petrol stations. Just imagine, they obtain your personal particulars, your other cc details and your signature. If they don't submit your application, you know the consequence.....

I agree that HLB has one of the best CS, based on my experience thus far. The 1st impression is already good, especially from the auto voice which they use the former radio DJ, Yasmin Yusof's voice. It's very clear, energetic and fast.

However, I've just cancelled my HLB cc after holding the cc for 10 years, as it has less promotion compared to other cards. Most importantly, I try to reduce the number of cards that I seldom use. Currently I have 4 cards and will cancel another cc soon.
