Bro ... not to confuse you or anything.
Card cancellation would not be accepted through e-mail ... period. You can try this with all the 9 anchor banks and foreign banks in Malaysia and they will tell you the same answer, "No ... we do not accept cancellation via e-mail".
The only means accepted by the bank is via letter (via fax in or mail and they will verify it later with you) or call in. (Authenticated via PIN or CS ask you questions)

yup, it's different, i fax the cancellation letter instead of sending it thru post

as hye pointed out, i don't think you can cancel thru email, even if you scan the cancellation letter with your signature on it as attachment

@alexwsk,
Ah well.. email isn't really considered 'official' correspondence I guess. In the same manner, we could always tell the banks we insist on wanting that letter to show they've declined our application tongue.gif

To me, 15 working days processing time is a waste of time! tongue.gif

Hahaha ... If you guys wanna make these comparisons then ... my turn
Best record from application to approval and get card ... 4 hours and the worst 2 months. That 4 hours is not even coming from HSBC or even HSBC MC Premier card application.

Got such CS system on voice de meh? Last time I used CS HUMAN... didn't know there is voice-machine... ah bo won't be "paiseh" to let them CS told me "You were declined.. SORRY"
*
Yes, call up the SCB CS number, the usual press 1 for EngLand, 2 for UMNO, 3 for MCA... choose several times until reach check CC application status, it ask to press IC number, then the pre-recorded voice says something like, "I am sorry, you application is not successful bla bla bla..."

BTW, I'm SCB M1 account holder for much longer than that. Very good banking and payment record.

Well, the phone-system cuts me off after announce, "Too bad, we don't want you. " *tuuuuuut* doh.gif

Anyway, I have this bad luck with foreign banks CC.

1) I have home loan with SCB, they deny me CC. doh.gif

2) My salary is credited into HSBC, they deny me CC. doh.gif But earlier this year, they call up and offer me CC with 5 years waiver rclxub.gif

@cute_boboi,
You're not serious that the phone recorded message actually said, in verbatim "Too bad, we don't want U"

Well, I don't know the actual meaning. But whatever message or things I receive, I always think from at least 2 angles. tongue.gif

No lah .. where got like that one. What @cute_boboi meant was he was just translating the official pre-recorded voice answer into (what probably) the bank meant. Hahahha.

@hye,
Yeah that would make sense! But that's why asked him if that's what the banks said, verbatim! tongue.gif

@cute_boboi,
I don't think the banks would have used that actual statement. I'll be quite surprised if U said it was verbatim. There's so many other better ways of declining a person and telling them "Too bad, we don't want U" is just not one of em!

tongue.gif Yep. It's like the bank asking nicely to take back the umbrella from you, the moment it starts raining. If you don't give, then they'll take by force, lawyer letters, etc.

@alexwsk,
I still happen to hold accounts at a few banks. In fact, my last count, I have just too many CCs !! *grins* Just don't know which one I should cancel and when I finally decide to cancel they decide to waive my AF and tell me to just leave it be!
