jurlique, yeah both RS & BT have been capped and what bugs me is when you use BT you can't surf the net at all.
Then dont use BT, or limit the download and upload so that BT doesnt suck all the bandwidth.Working Life in Singapore V3, FAQs, experience sharing, meet-ups

QUOTE(Shinichi @ May 9 2010, 11:20 AM) Thanks Lester, I got to know from CC thread that DBS has lowest income requirement for foreigner at $45k pa. Based on here, hsbc platinum card minimum requirement for foreigner is SGD 40k, though I'm not sure does the income requirement inclusive of bonus, AWS or not. For those who work in SG, do you go to Johor to get your groceries? Will the price be "cheaper" this way? Added on May 9, 2010, 11:30 am Thanks Sean. If I do not qualify to apply for SG CC, do you think its okay to use MY CC in SG? The cons I could think of is 1. extra admin charges incurred for overseas spending, 2. troublesome - need to transfer money from SG to MY bank to pay bills Reason I'm asking about using CC in SG is because I got used to paying via CC in MY, as it is very convenient for me, no need to brings lots of cash & I only need to pay once per month. Plus I get cash rebates for my spending too. I am actually using DBS "Platinum" debit card, even with the "Platinum" words on the card, lol. Free annual fee, and cash rebate for certain usage. Not bad though. QUOTE(reign226 @ May 9 2010, 06:33 PM) Incidentally has anyone got SIP working with Android or Apple devices? With proliferation of data plans, it could mean far cheaper calls than even the telcos can provide, maybe at expense of call quality/lag. Any recommended VOIP provider, I thought for iPhone, VOIP call can only be made through wifi network, unless we jailbreak it, no?QUOTE(crapp0 @ May 10 2010, 09:31 AM) Lester, do you know whats the interest rate of citibank currently or are all banks interest rates controlled by MAS? The bank interest rate is always closely linked to rates announced by MAS. I guess forummer with finance background can explain better.QUOTE(minievo @ May 10 2010, 10:48 AM) jurlique, yeah both RS & BT have been capped and what bugs me is when you use BT you can't surf the net at all. I am using Starhub DSL, and I don't feel like BT being throttled le. |

how come all of u all say BT being throttled. what is the DL speed u all get normally? I can get around 500-600kb/s on my BT. i am using Singtel 10mbps line.
editted there once a time where i get around 1mb/s when i run 5 torrent at the same time. so i believe the average speed i get is most probably because there is not enough seed/peer around for me to leech. This post has been edited by Lester1987: May 10 2010, 02:23 PM |

QUOTE(Mackiddo @ May 10 2010, 09:22 AM) right. wouldn't it be a greater risk if someone get whole of the debit card info compare to prepaid visa? I tried to used my prepaid visa if possible for overseas purchases instead of credit card. who knows when the card will be compromise. May I know which feature of prepaid card make it more secure than debit card? I never use prepaid card before, don't quite understand how it works. |

QUOTE(Find The Way @ May 10 2010, 08:13 PM) May I know which feature of prepaid card make it more secure than debit card? I never use prepaid card before, don't quite understand how it works. you just top up the amount you want, up to sgd500. if card is misused, then it's just the value inside the card. |

Debit card limit is up to the amount in your bank account also right?
Hence is debit card= prepaid visa/mastercard? Because my debit card can work for merchant who accepts Visa as well. |

Anyone signup for the World Cup package?
It seems reasonable at just $66 for 64 live matches... = $1 for 1 match. I am going to signup tomorrow to enjoy my HD world Cup. |

QUOTE(Lester1987 @ May 9 2010, 11:47 AM) u can use debit card instead of credit card in SG. Their debit card is accepted by all merchants here. and the debit card works as good as a credit card as u will enjoy some rebate when u swipe it just like what we are getting in Malaysia. Not advisable to use ur MY CC here if not needed because the exchange rate sux. I have been using my DBS and citibank debit card here for the pass 6 months, so far non of the transaction got rejected as long as ur account have enough money. My friend tried to use his Malaysia Maybank Debit card here last time but it got rejected. Malaysia really "失败" in their debit card compare to SG. Don't simply comment "Malaysia really "失败" in their debit card compare to SG."Did you find out what is the problem? Your friend has enough money in his bank account? The credit card machine got any problem? |

FYI, maybank debit card need some online authorisation before certain usage.Like for purchases from itunes, you need to allow for the transaction from maybank2u website. So, understand the root cause before making a statement. Lol. |
