I'm offered 2.3k for a QS job in Singapore.
But the company give me WP instead of EP.  sad.gif

As from what most of friends told me, salary >1.8k and degree should be getting EP instead of WP.

Would like to ask what is the difference between WP and EP?
Is it only for the difficulties in getting PR??

Thanks..  icon_rolleyes.gif

No la, for EP, u need $2.5K and above.

Hi, I need a confirmation regarding The Use of Singaporean Car in Malaysia.

According to my fren, if u intend to buy a SG car and after that you intend to return to Msia to work, you can actually buy a red car plate SG car and drive back to Msia.

All you need is to return to SG to renew the road tax and insurance every year and COE perhaps after 5 years.

Since Malaysia did not limit how long a SG car can be park in Malaysia, it will be very affordable for an individual to buy the discounted (red plate) car and drive in Msia when one decided to return to Msia one day.

Unlike Singapore, Singapore government limit the period Malaysian cars that can be driven by PR/EP/S pass in SG, ie 10 days per year OR SGD30 per day for tourists (if I am not mistaken).

The only requirement is that you must hold a SG driving licence and willing to forgone your MY licence and thus you will not be able to drive any MY cars in Malaysia anymore except your red plate SG car.

[Maybe as chess_gal suggested in the previous post that you can give some "processing fees" to the JPJ officer, but this does not guarantee that you will be able to renew your MY licence in the future]

So, what's your opinion guys?

An OPC car is only provides a S$17000 discount off the normal price of a car in Singapore. What car can you buy in Singapore with a 17K discount and end up significantly cheaper than if you buy in Malaysia?

And if you have no Singaporean residential address and PR/EP/SP/WP, how do you renew the COE and insurance?

Why can't people who hold Singapore licences drive Malaysian cars? They can rent and drive Malaysian cars using a Singapore licence.
*
Take Toyota Wish for instance which cost SGD70K, if OPC car = SGD70K-SGD17K= SGD53K, whereas in Malaysia it cost approx RM170K.

For residential address, I believe could put your friends or relative house (this i am not sure, tat's why I need a confirmation here)

For your latter query, that's means those car rental operators could only rent cars to drivers with Malaysian licence???

Anyways the cars here are very reasonable, but the only setback is that you can only own it for ten years. My bf and I have been doodling with the idea of getting an OPC but he wants a Subara WRX while I want a car that cost less than $40k.
*
For ten years? I thought it can be renewed for another 5 more years?

If you're unable to service the loan... you still won't own anything anyway.

Anyway, do the math. Numbers don't lie. Problems with unrealistic assumptions (eg. always have tenants, interest rates never go up etc) will show up like a sore thumb.

Me... I like Singapore, but I probably won't buy a place here. I can pay rent here, save the surplus and after some years buy a house in KL with cash. Don't think I'll be in Singapore for 20 years.
*
Tat's rite, I may return to Malaysia one day too. Afterall, Singaore may rejoins Malaysia one day.

I believe Singapore can never survive and sustain as an independent nation on a 700sq/km island forever. The lack of pure water, land and increasing population is a major concern.

Even LKY suggested that Singapore may one day rejoins motherland Malaysia. Anyhow, this is only my thought.

smile.gif   anyway the resale flat price is on the bounce now ...going up ..
*
It will sure on the bounce with the opening of the IR and the Marina Bay Casino.

Singapore will become a Casino Metropolitan.

Plus, with the government efforts to double the size of the MRT system by 2020, property prices will be going to shoot-up extremely.

OR

I definitely choose (1).

My office is on Orchard Rd but we have another office and a lab also in Tuas. I've been to the Tuas sites numerous times... and I have not enjoyed the trip even once. It's far (30+ minutes to get there by taxi), lots of traffic jams, nothing to eat during lunch if you don't drive out and if you call for a taxi, the operator always tells you 'no taxi'. Oh... McD's or Pizzahut delivery.... they don't deliver to Tuas if you order is less than $200 or something. One time, we had to offer to pay for their staff's taxi fare before they agreed to deliver.

There are certain benefits if one chooses to work in Tuas:-

1) Free transport for most of the companies
2) Higher salary by about 10% (this is what I heard)
3) The food is cheaper than you eat in city area.
4) Easier for ppl living in Johor and work in Tuas or Woodlands.

Since this morning you guys mentioned about Singaporean kiasu attitude.

I must say kiasu is somehow a positive attitude and because of kiasu, Singapore achieve what they wanted today.

They are actually learning from the Japanese, dont you think that the Japanese could conquer a couple of Chinese cities and subsequently continue to conquer SEA if without their kiasu-must-win attitude?

Unlike Malaysian, some of them still showing these 2 infamous attitude:-
1) Tidak-apa attitude
2) Kalau tak suka, kamu keluar attitude

I am really dissapointed with these kind of attitude and culture.
