QUOTE(seantang @ Jun 5 2009, 01:49 PM) chess_gal has got a point. The Jobs Credit Scheme makes local employees (citizens and PRs) around S$300 per month cheaper in cash terms vs previously. After tax, it's around S$375 since the cash payment from the govt are tax free and I have not heard that the tax deduction claimed on employee salaries is reduced by this amount. If same amount 3k paid to foreigners and locals, employer doesn't have to pay 14.5% CPF to foreigners, right? So if the job pays 3K, a Singaporean or PR will actually be 10+% cheaper than before. This scheme compensates the employer for the 14% employers CPF contribution that they have to pay for locals but not foreigners. It basically narrows the cost advantage of employing foreigners over locals. I don't get u.. Or u mean employer needs to pay tax for foreigners, but the CPF paid to locals will be compensated by Jobs Credit Scheme? |

QUOTE(seantang @ Jun 5 2009, 06:55 PM) Now I understand, company get tax free for the job credits that compensate CPF contribution, right?Although employer doesn't have to pay CPF to foreigners, but the good thing to hire locals is they get tax free job credit to cover the CPF contribute to locals. |

QUOTE(hkhk @ Jun 6 2009, 10:52 AM) For a company, there is a quota on how many Foreigner they can employ base on how many Local Citizen / PR they have. Locals always ask for higher salary, but if a company hire foreigners or PR, they can expect them to work harder than locals for the same or lower salary. For example: maybe for every Sg citizen, they can employ 5 foreigner. And in these 5 foreigner, only 2 can be holder of WP, 2 can be S-pass and the other 2 must be holder of Q-pass or higher. If there is no such quota, all the company will employ many Foreign worker, and there will be no job for the local.. Since local always ask for more. There is a levy for WP holder and EP holder at different rate. I think most of the foreigners come here to make money, of course will work harder to make life better.. |

QUOTE(B-Mecha @ Jun 8 2009, 08:44 AM) hi guys, i got an important update for PR application. I know that since long time ago.. applicant need to have appointment for the full submission!!!!! this morning, i went to lavender ICA building at 7am. the officer told me that i need to have appointment before i can do the full submission. i can go through e appointment or submit the Form 4A (the application form) WITHOUT the supporting documents into the drop off box at the ICA building (which is what i did). 3-5 working days later ICA will send me a appointment letter and assign me a time to do the full submission (need to bring the supporting documents + photocopy). they just changed it not long ago so... reference link: http://www.ica.gov.sg/page.aspx?pageid=151&secid=150 anyway, thanks for the info.. Tax rates for individual residents
Chargeable annual income bracket Rate For the first S$20,000 0% S$20,000 - S$30,000 3.5% S$30,000 - S$40,000 5.5% S$40,000 - S$80,000 8.5% S$80,000 - S$160,000 14% S$160,000 - S$320,000 17% S$320,000 and above 20% Should an individual have an annual chargeable income of S$400,000, for example, his gross tax payable will be S$[(20,000 X 0%) + (10,000 X 3.5%) + (10,000 X 5.5%) + (40,000 X 8.5%) + (80,000 X 14%) + (160,000 X 17%) + (80,000 X 20%)] = S$58,700 (Average tax rate = 14.7%). |

QUOTE(seantang @ Jun 19 2009, 08:42 PM) Contrast the Sg tax rates to Malaysia's. By the time your income reaches RM250K, you're already paying 55K in taxes. It's takes nearly S$400K to pay that much tax in Singapore. the income above is in monthly or annual? don't understand, seems like 2,500 is monthly income but when goes up to 250,000 i suppose is annual? confuse...LHDN Kadar Cukai Pendapatan Bagi Individu Bermastautin Mulai Tahun Taksiran 2002 Pendapatan Tercukai / RM / Kadar / Cukai (RM) Atas yang pertama 2,500 0% 0 Atas yang berikut 2,500 1% 25 Atas yang pertama 5,000 - 25 Atas yang berikut 15,000 3% 450 Atas yang pertama 20,000 - 475 Atas yang berikut 15,000 7% 1,050 Atas yang pertama 35,000 - 1,525 Atas yang berikut 15,000 13% 1,950 Atas yang pertama 50,000 - 3,475 Atas yang berikut 20,000 19% 3,800 Atas yang pertama 70,000 - 7,275 Atas yang berikut 30,000 24% 7,200 Atas yang pertama 100,000 - 14,475 Atas yang berikut 50,000 27% 13,500 Atas yang pertama 150,000 - 27,975 Atas yang berikut 100,000 27% 27,000 Atas yang pertama 250,000 - 54,975 Melebihi 250,000 28% - |

QUOTE(seantang @ Jun 26 2009, 02:13 PM) Up to you if you don't mind crossing the causeway or 2nd Link frequently. I said that because I'm working on project basis, as far as i know, my manager salary is about 15-20k, so I can imagine my project manager earning more than that figure..In my opinion, the only thing you save is rental. Food & groceries... how much can one person eat? For whatever rental you save, you pay for it in wasted time going through immigration. You've got to decide for yourself. Added on June 26, 2009, 2:54 pmChemicals MNC. How many years of experience... it depends. Best case scenario (if you're identified very early as a future leader), it'll take you 6-9 years to be a manager after joining as a fresh grad. Probably 1 in 300 junior employees type of calibre and closer to 1 in 1000 if you're not based in US or Europe. These people are groomed to be future senior directors and VPs - from which the global management teams are selected. If you're identified as high potential, it'll be slightly longer... around 10-15 years. If you're well above average (but somehow management did not monitor your career from early on... for eg. late bloomers), you'll probably be around 40-45 when they decide they've tested you sufficiently, and you're capable enough to be made a manager. If you're average... you will probably retire without ever becoming a manager especially if you are working at a small location where the bigger jobs are few and far between. --- Having said that, lots of the people supervisors (especially those supervising fairly junior people) and heads of the smaller departments are not managers. Anyway, it's just a title, I hope to working on freelance project in the future, less resposiblitiy and company hire u for your specialist.. |
