I have 2 Crumpler bags that I rotate between, depending on whether I feel like using a messenger bag or backpack. Part and Parcel & King Single.

I got mine from Machines. Im using Speck See-thru Satin 13" with Moshi Palmguard and Moshi Clearguard + Free sleeve (I got this from machines when i purchase my Macbook 2.4) + Crumpler King Single.

I would recommend you to get a Speck See-thru to protect it from scratches..

P/S If you have machines membership card.
You would get 10% rebate.
RM515 - RM51 = RM465
Very nice deal I got.

Now thinking of getting an Incase Neopreene Sleeve......

black neoprene + either my nice designer sling or crumpler king (the 13 inch type) i manage to fit my mb in it, but the internal sleeve must not be attached or just use neoprene to put it in.

using a targus 13.3 mac sleeve. made out of ballistic nylon and doubles as a laptop stand as well - can be opened at the top as a normal sleeve, or there is a zipper at the bottom which opens up the casing in half. like it because it is hard and gives very very good protection for my macbook.

I don't bother, none of my older notebooks have ever have scratched/torn screens (my dad did manage to kill one of his though) and the new MB/MBP screens are glass. I just wipe them down from time to time.

Did u take the case out n wipe ur MBP about once a week to keep all the dust away
as most of the scratches ar made by Dust accumulated in the cover

My Speck see-thru satin kept my macbook pristine.
Make sure you take out the case once a week to wipe off the dust and debris accumulated inside the case.

U mean the Speck Clear Hard Case?
as according to one of the youtube video about the Speck case on both satin n hard case
The hard case doesnt provide any scratch resistance (on the outer surface of the hard case)
where else the satin even u used a knife n scratch on the outer surface
it does not even done a single scratch on the satin cover

Thanx.. Crazyee for the tucano... Later will check out more details on it. Just saw its thumbnail from google images... Haha.. Not really like the Text being designed at that scale..

Anyone here any comments with this products?!

it seems low-profile but without losing the taste of design.. at least for me.

Had a Speck See-Thru casing on my MBP and guess what, instead of protecting my MBP, it left scratches on it... it uses hard plastic which quite sharp. So .. the casing is a no-no ..!

@Shumaky

Saw the Tucano Second Skin at Machines today. RM159 for micro-fibre sleeve and RM139 for neoprene sleeve. I think it's a great alternative to Incase neoprene sleeve (RRP RM169 at Apple Online) which is the one I'm looking for at a cheaper price but so far no such luck yet!

Btw for those who have been to the prev Mac Discovery week before, will there be any discount on such accessories like notebook sleeves?

u can try the Capdase screenguard professional. i heard its very good but i never see ppl use. probably because very expensive... RM110 at my place here for 15" sad.gif. fortunately i'll b in KL during the mac+ipod discovery so i'll be looking for the screenguard there

also hoping to get the moshi keyboard protector. very thin type and can wash with water, not dusty like silicone one. btw im using moshi palmguard now and really satisfied with it smile.gif. expensive tho

yeah bro, i hope fedex will send it in time which is by 6 PM Wednesday and will post it out to you straight since I already prepared everything.

My gf got the black colcasac, cuz the normal brown colcasac is out of stock (she really wants this one). But so far, from what I see, the applesac looks good and fits nicely for both white macbook (tried it on mine) and the aluminum macbook.

received my applesac today, its the same one as =Hanxz= in the pictures above, love the look, my macbook pro really feels snug inside..

the only issue for me is the "hair like" material which basically comes out from everywhere.. im not sure if it is just for "the original" model or for others as well.. i kinda thought it would be a little neater..

but still love it though =)

it is like that because of the material.. not all applesac is made from burlap, some are made from cotton so those are neater..

the only issue i read about burlap/jutt material is it get inside the macbook..

@jind86 & arshad,
I wouldn't recommend a sling / carry case for laptop + charger + books cause it'll get too heavy. It will definitely take a toll on the person who's carrying it.

I recommend either the backpack version or the "air stewardess" looks; those cabin luggage look alike with wheels biggrin.gif

Personally, I use these 2:

the sling bag is supported by your shoulders, similar to how a backpack would hang.. therefore there wouldnt be much difference in weight support.. plus, a sling bag just looks more professional..

@jind86,
I use both and the Sling takes a toll on the shoulders; the backpack is supported by the back so it's easier but you're definitely right about the sling back looking better than the backpack.

PS: I've several Associates in very high powered positions who uses a backpack and the reason we do that is because the sling backs just take a toll on us tongue.gif Guess we're just getting old.

@jind86,
I use both and the Sling takes a toll on the shoulders; the backpack is supported by the back so it's easier but you're definitely right about the sling back looking better than the backpack.

PS: I've several Associates in very high powered positions who uses a backpack and the reason we do that is because the sling backs just take a toll on us tongue.gif  Guess we're just getting old.
*
i know high position individuals who use a backpack as well, but that wasn't my point.. all im saying is a seek sling back or handcarry is going to help men look more matured and more professional.. you're not going to see james bond in his tom ford suit carrying a backpack to meet M in her office..

@jind86,
... but James Bond is NOT real! tongue.gif I think one should get a bag for practicality; very well if it looks good but I think practicality should take priority tongue.gif

@cRazYee,
That's pretty expensive! But well.. if one's a fashionista, Y not? biggrin.gif

james bond isnt real, but his appearance is.. anyway a macbook is only 2kg's light, how heavy can it be to carry it around? there's nothing here really about practicality.. i recently just purchased a sleeve, im currently walking around with just the sleeve in my hand, without a bag even..

Jind86,

Occasionally i carried my MBP in my PRADA messenger bag or INCase messenger bag and I agreed it really looks nice smile.gif But for me one bag (in my case its 2 ;-p ) does not fit for all situations where sometimes I need a backpack as well..so I am looking for a backpack.

Tink, Crumpler seems nice...I want yellow and green..makes me think of mangoes!!!

@neekun,
If ur intending to get a Crumpler, see if U can get an overseas visitor to go with U to KLCC cause with their foreign passport, they're entitled this tourist discount of 10% at the KLCC Crumpler store.

I love my Crumpler so much, I don't take it overseas with me for fear it'll get dirty or torn tongue.gif

I sure wasn't aware Crumpler bags had lifetime warranty. Targus, does have warranty but I don't remember if it's lifetime or not.

Crumpler seldom got sales. In fact, the last time i went there (KLCC)...the price has gone up instead. Better get from a forumer here, rather than u need to but at the retail price.

i use a nike laptop sleeve for my mbp 15" and a crumpler skivvy i just bought at klcc after pc fair on friday. ermm just one complaint is that the skivvy is quite small and only two compartments. but that justifies the price of around rm200 i guess.
thinking abt heading there to get another. but i think the prices there are quite alright.
saw this bag selling @crumpler klcc for less than rm200 but machines selling for rm400+ for the same thing. bsides you color selection there is wide. biggrin.gif

finally got my mbp 13 but donno what kind of protection i need for it. i asked the machines guy, he said apa also no need wor :|

actually i asked this question somewhere but couldnt find which is the thread. sorry if u guys hv seen this question again.

anyway, the package igot is jz a normal keyboard protector. i feel its disturbing the heat ventilation below the keyboard. is it worth it to get the moshi keyboard protector?

also, i heard the palm rest area might have problem after a while...as in the color n scratches. so i think of getting a the moshi palm guard or something. trackpad i think shld b fine without anything.

do u guys get anything for the screen or just use iklear? how much is iklear by the way? machines selling for 80+

sorry ya, first time mac owner. apa pun donno here.

For casing, you can choose for invi shield, hard casing or soft cashing. this is the one im using http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=28705015

For keyboard protector, i dont think you need that since the keys are all in black color and easy to clean. another issue is also because the heat dissipation.

For palm guard, yea, there is a need to stick for it. Moshi is one of the best, but the Moshi package which around rm100 comes with trackpad protector too. I dont think applying the trackpad protector is good because will decrease the sensitivity.

For screen protector, i think iklear is not bad.

was thinking bout this case but its not cheap lo. i plan to get this and then put inside my laptop bag. the sleeve machines gave me looks bit ....risky. coz can easily scratch the surface.

i considered the speck before but the color not so nice wor. prefer black or silver color of the aluminium. .

got the shadow casing for my mbp. still feel mbp is nicer in its own but i feel safer wif the casing. its quite soft to the touch but the see-thru plastic for the apple logo looks a bit out of place. :|

also my other complaint is the palm rest... the casing is a bit distracting at the edge. don feel quite comfortable since its like something protruding out fr the edge. can feel it wif my wrist.

but other than that, so far so good la.

I want to get shadow casing also but I saw the review on youtube that shows mbp can't close properly so i'm gonna leave it unprotected. Just using keyboard protector at the moment.

i changed here n there. it's not perfect also. could've been better - the apple logo placement i mean.
the palm rest area reli hurting my wrist a bit. hahaha.

as for the moshi keyboard protector. looks nice n perfect. soft touch also. only problem is that...it comes off too easily. hahah. coz its non-sticky (thats why wont leave stains on the keyboard).

i think its true that cannot be closed properly. the difference is pretty minimal. i don reli mind about this small difference to be honest.

but one other major concern is the heat. a lot of reviews saying the heat problem will arise if you are using heavy duty stuff like photoshop because it blocks the air ventilation at the back and bottom. the aluminium casing will not be useful anymore. and it'll be worse if u have a silicon keyboard protector. i hope my moshi 1 wont be as bad. but i'll closely monitor the temperature and update here as needed. smile.gif

Hi i must say, i just bought an capdase rough screen protector, its better comparing to glossy. when its under light, there's no reflection. Ask the keyboard protector issue with them, they said that they open the new mbp once, and they noted that its totally seal. so there is no problem using screen protector. oh ya, i bought a marware palm guard too. although looks ugly but the touching feeling is damn nice. oh it comes with a trackpad protector and a clothe. the trackpad protector not only dint decrease the sensitiveness but increase the smoothing touching. try that. the clothe is better a bit compare to others. let me know if you want me to upload my pics.

FW = ? yea. mbp not enuf usb, but the hdd is not that big. plan to get a usb hub for other lightweight devices.

iklear is used to clean the screen. it's a kind of liquid.

i've read somewhere that doing a clean install of SL is better. since it's still new, might as well do that.

Sounds neat to me. Care to share where/how much u bought the screen protector, palm guard and trackpad protector? Pictures would be great =D

The screen protector is around rm100. i just compared mine with my friend's mb 13" with other screen protector. Main different is still mine dont have reflection under the light because mine is rough surface, lights will unable to reflects. The most similar example you can see is the photos you print out on a smooth or rough surface paper.

For the palm guard protector,the package is comes with palm guard protector, trackpad protector and also a clothe. the brand name is marware. i think there are 1 people selling it here. Price also around 100. the palm guard is like 2 pieces of silicon square stickers stick on right and left palm side. the color is alike, but still can easily spot the palm guard. for trackpad protector, its hard to spot it and the feeling is very good after apply it. Sorry still not yet go and take pics about it, kinda lazy atm.

not really, i remember my heat is 75celcius(with 8600 on), task doing - The sims 3(mac), itunes(playing song from ipod touch),safari(10+ tabs) and the otherside VMware running windows xp with xunlei and pps(pause for the video streaming).

Btw, i do have a Cooler Master NotePal cooler with my mbp. not pretty sure whether it helps on reducing the heat. I don't think so the casing will bring you extra 15 Celsius heat.

i think the cooler master does help a little. anyway, i'll jz remove the bottom half whenever i don bring it around. i might get the cooler master, any idea where can i get it? and around how much ah?

i think maybe not as much as 15. but somewhere 5-10 is also pretty serious.

the brand of cooler is not important, try get those cooler which have a big fan in the middle. Those will have a better effect.

For me mac get into 80celcius is normal, don't need to be too worry about the heat problem.

I finally found a sleeve that is suitable for my MBP13 this evening. Its from Case Logic and they have new precision sleeves specially made for the MacBook 13". Price is RM90 (Midvalley). I like the inner feature where they have linings to protect the MacBook from scratches originating from the zip. As you zip the sleeve close, the linings will move together to cover the MacBook and protect additional side impact protection.

Here's the product page: http://www.caselogic.com/13_macbook_laptop...?modelid=120446

im thinking abt getting the tsunami design for me mbp 15". but its pretty expensive inclusive of shipping and everything. and according to that person (after i pm him), i cannot combine shipping. so still thinking of whether to get that, or fabrix. heard of that bro? singapore company. they make pretty good sleeves for both laptops and accessories.

@llsphinxll,
According to the foodshop.com website, the postage charges aren't combine-able; that sux I know cause we were both hoping to save on shipping. Haven't heard of fabrix but am checking out their website as I type this; looks quite nice but am not too sure about the padding; and I don't like the velcro thingy *grins*

And, it's sis tongue.gif

PS: I just checked out the website; it's not cheap there either. For the kinda price, I prefer to go with foofshop.com smile.gif

oh haha sorry sis. tongue.gif yeah was hoping to combine shipping. mm but i think the price for fabrix and foof are pretty much the same. yeah foof does look more comfy for the laptop to b in it, just wish they had more design. but i really like the tsunami. the problem is, how to buy.hmm but i think including shipping and everything (hopefully no tax) it wud b approx rm150 for a laptop sleeve. killa! shocking.gif
and fabrix corp offers personal customization for just any device and any measurement. and can add zips and pouches on the sides. biggrin.gif

I wonder if those Samsonite bags over in Parkson KLCC would be a

good carrying bags for the Macbook Pros. Saw, those 13.3" and 15" and

they're quite well-built, but the price tag is killing me. Would love to purchase them though.

The Samsonite laptop carrying bag for the 13.3" which i saw the other day,

costs about RM550 if i am not mistaken. I would recommend buying them on holiday

seasons where discounts would usually kick in.

If you don't mind... a nice, slim and compact design is available with Belkin. This is the page http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage...oduct_Id=399512

I have one of these and it cost around RM100. Very elaborate padding all round and you'll be surprised how slim and compact it is. Inner sole material is plush and looks like microfibre to protect laptop from scratches.

Yes, from the shops at 2nd Floor near the bridge connection to Gardens. I'm liking the case very much because of the material. Its neoprene and the inner side is similar to microfibre. It fits my MBP13 just nice and tight. At first, it doesn't seem to fit but after some stretching its just nice. The product is designed especially for MBA and MBP13. They also have larger ones for 15.4". No 17" in sight though.

Maybe you can try Tuscano. They're pretty slim and can house the laptop and a charger. They do have pockets here and there for your memory cards, cd, whatever. Most importantly it has a handle which I'm sure you'll appreciate. Price is around RM200+.

@terencetoo,
There's quite a lot of options out there if u really take the trouble and time to look at it; in fact, there are more choices available in Singapore *grins*

I do check out the Apple stores but rarely purchase from them. I currently use a Crumpler King Single & a Targus Leather Tote; both of which are about RM400-500 each when I purchased them.

I'm using a Speck transparent red casing, and as for the bag, can't remember the brand (a Japanese brand for laptop bags and handphone/MP3 player pouches) because I haven't used the bag for a while LOL.

Guys....

Today is quite a sad day.....Guess what...took leave...travel whole Klang Valley for approx 6 hours just to find my Laptop Bag.

Visit: Pavilion, Lot 10, Gradens, Mid Valley ( Machines staff at Mid Valley told me that KLCC got Tucano Shop, where i was wondering where is it, took the risk n trusted him drive all the way back to KLCC at 6pm+), head to KLCC (dont even have Tucano shop n no bags there), went to 1U Old and New wing to reconfirm stock availability...no luck at all...

Most of the bag are backpack, or 15.4" pattern.

Quite sad wanted to try Amcorp Mall but the staff told me there "Mac City" even smaller at Amcorp Mall so guess im going to skip it...

Well.....saw samsonite at rm500+ too exp....n i dont really understand why all Apple outlet do not carry huge design of laptop bags? Even Pavilion also have limited stock n design...

Guess im heading to Apple Online Store and google around see anyone doing bulking or direct order from website...just to try some luck..

p/s: before my trip to search Hellolulu and Tucano...i tried calling all the outlets...Only Pavilion got stock for Hellolulu 13.3 and 15.4" turn out...what u see what u get from the shelf....disappointed wink.gif

personally, wont recommend case logic and capdase
cuz they are not really good products, most product are designed for general computer
not exclusive for mac
so the sleeve might be lose cuz macs are thin

dont use those sleeve with pocket, case logic one is quite thin, had one
a direct push will dented your mac

acme not so bad

in malaysia, Be.ez is quite good. France brand, quite thick the sleeve.
tucano, so are quite thin also like microfiber (using one)

totally ban from my list, case logic, capdase, checkerplate
wonder why all c company

checkerplate provide the worst quality of product

The material doesn't stretch that much like the Case Logic ones. It's quite thick, according to their website, it's 3mm thick but I have no way of measuring it. It's a very snug fit once I put my laptop in. I got it from the Macshop in Funan Centre, Singapore.

I'm not sure about Hellolulu because I wasn't looking out for it. But there are lots of Tucano, Targus, the Booq range in the Macshop, Case Logic... there's quite a good variety there. Since you're going to be there you should check it out. I didn't see any foofbag or ColcaSac sleeves there.

Just a quick sharing: Check out this anti-theft Macbook sleeve: http://theappleblog.com/2009/09/03/anti-th...ded-newspapers/

Hi there, I am new here, just bought a new macbook 13inch unibody.

Would like to ask which macbook case is good, as Machines staff said the case for macbook poly not yet out...

The next one I would get is da bag, please recommend some of them so that I wont be carrying my mac with its carry box lolz...

Budget: RM150 or below if possible T_T...

Thanks for the info, what do you think about this:

For cheapest alternatives:

In order to have a scratch-free MacBook without casing, which is caused by either dust, or by some low-quality bags, here is the method:

Guys you all still have the MacBook hand-carry box right? That one is a natural scratch-free protection for your Mac!

All you have to do is find a bag big enough to contain the whole box! Even for cheaper big backpack!

Don worry the outlook of the box when you take it out from box, when put on table, your Macbook will be pure white due to case-less!!!

waoh...hellolulu is a funny "girlish" name to me.

Just browsed thru their official site. The design seems to change my view bout the carrying bag design for laptop.

Personally, i feel myself more comfortable with their design than Crumpler one.

Btw, RM192 for which model u bought, Terence?! How is the built in quality.

Water-proof?

How bout "collides"resistance on the floor or hard objects surface...haa?

Of course, you need to take out all the included things within it and contain only the MacBook, the power adapter have to put in smaller pouch in the backpack for convenience though... lolz... not a bad idea of saving money for dust-protection huh?

Crumpler is going to make me looking even "boyish"...

Somemore i feel have to wear bright color costume to match their fashion.
I saw before formal wear peoples with crumpler products. Kinda like 'dowgrade' the professional image. Ok..maybe just me.. no offense.

The crumpler product is not offer at kiddy price.. I used to think like that cuz of their fancy color.

Anyone using leather backpack for their mac here? Or anything which is leather..

i saw one online...Stylish ever design.. Yet the price makes me jaw drops.
Too stylish design as i am using that.. It's spoiling the designer's masterpiece..haha..

Why everyone is getting casing? How about bags?

Does it means that if I got the casing, bag is not needed and I can put my macbook with casing in my old laptop bag?

Now in the middle of confusion about which to get, laptop carry bags or Casing.

dont think too much about physics ;p even if it traps heat and what not, it's not significant. my CPU temp is pretty much the same with or without casing and shield

for me its too disheartening to see a scratch on my 7k machine sweat.gif

notebook sleeves will scratch macbook with zipper;
Casing need weekly cleaning;
Invisible shield hard to apply;

Final solution: a sleeves without zipper such as http://colcasac.com/original.html

oh damnit damnit. ok as mentioned b4 im using both zagg invisible shield and the speck see thru.

b4 this i noticed got some sticky stuff between those two that made it hard to take off the speck. i thought it was maybe i spilled something on it.

the sticky stuff happened again n i realised its actually melted plastic tongue.gif. i think the heat melted the speck casing a bit...nothing serious la since no obvious damage and i manage to take it apart with little force. but still..! +_+

Any of you know where to purchase a crystal casing like the ones Speck is offering. I don't think they sell it for the newer Macbook of early 2009; 13".

Hi all,

I am looking for a bag (not backpack) that can fit my 15" unibody MBP, at the same time, I hope the bag has those special pockets that can fit in my iphone, a pair of earphone, a small notebook and some A4 papers.

Is there such nice bag available in the market? Kindly please advice and recommend.

Thank you.

Hi guys,

Anyone know where I can buy the incase sleeve? Any shop selling it? Looking to buy one.

Thanks.

Added on January 6, 2010, 9:15 pm

Went to Switch Penang just now to check out the incase neoprene sleeve but too bad they didn't carry this brand.

How about Machines in KL? Anyone know? How much they sell?

For those who have the MBP 13" , dont be fooled when you read that the Speck clear case only fits the 13" Macbook because some of them have the sticker with suitable for Macbook 13" Unibody and it fits my MBP 13" perfectly!!!

I got mine from Epicentre for $148 in case anyone was wondering!

careful though... that was when we had the aluminium unibody macbook, now renamed as the 13" MBP. it fits but IINM it blocks the kensington slot and audio port?

keep in mind today we have a new 13" unibody macbook...but plastic version. this one confirm wont fit because of the different shape

dvlzplayground, perhaps you are right but I dont see mine blocking any ports or outputs whatsoever so yeah it works for me.

The Speck packaging had an orange sticker stating"CUSTOM_FIT FOR 13" Macbook Pro"
and also fits 13" Aluminium Unibody Macbook.

I wanted to buy a speck messenger bag for my MBP as per the speck catalog, the one with pinstripe. Looks nice. Didn't want a backpack as I already had a good targus. Mind telling me where I can get the speck bag in KL, Machines, Maccity?

@=Hanxz=,
I got it because no one else would have it here in KL; or at least few people and now you decide to bring in bulk tongue.gif So, should I leave a good review [so that no one will purchase it] or tell the truth?! *LOL*

Anyhow the foofbag's pretty value for $ at RM139 if you ask me [that's =Hanxz='s price right?!] and I'm definitely loving mine - thought i haven't been out much hence haven't had the chance to use it much.

As to those wanting to consider the foodpod, do re-consider again; I don't quite like it because:-
# it's too tight fitting
# its internal wool keeps heat on the phone

I bought a Speck SeeThru Satin (Black) for my MBP13 but that didn't turn out too well. The one area on the top section is extremely sandy. There's a lot of 'dust' beneath the satin material. Maybe they didn't do the curing properly. Then one area at the bottom section has paint flaking off.

Its now back to Machines but they don't seem to be able make a decision what to do next.

Nothing fancy for me just using samsonite outlab since I'm travelling alot plus I can carry 2 laptop with it. MBP just coated it with thin plastic film since can't have speck etc since it will just add more weight to it

time for a short review of the foof sleeves i've got for myself and others recently!

after using this for almost a week, i've no qualms on this sleeve i've decided to splurge on!
i'll let the pictures do the talking biggrin.gif
here's the packaging it came in!

The koi motive on the sleeves, apparently the fabric is a type of japanese cotton.
as they said, "We choose fabric materials that are personal and unique, funky or beautiful, crazy or just hard-to-obtain" tongue.gif

have you foof yet? brows.gif

Pictures aside, the sleeve is well worth the money I'm paying for compared to the Colcasac which another forummer had said, the fiber from the hemp tends to get loose and sticks to your clothing which kinda annoys me sometimes.

Quality wise, it is way better than the Colcasac, although it doesn't have a cover to prevent your mac from slipping off, it doesn't slip off due to its snug and tight fitting of the sleeve. Have tried my MBP on my friend's foof Macbook sleeve and mine slip off due to the wider size of the Macbook sleeve, which really shows how detailed this guys are to provide us with a snug fit for our macs! biggrin.gif

and of course the aesthetics wise of the sleeve, this just screams attention compared to my Colcasac which just gives a resounding dull. laugh.gif
The reason i chose the Colcasac for comparison is because its the only other sleeve I have to compare with the foof, moreover their price is in the same price range of around 120-140.

so have you foof yet? biggrin.gif

have a look at their website, there are certainly more designs over there!
http://foofshop.com/

I might get greedy, now i'm targeting this Nami Aka for my second sleeve from them tongue.gif

True, but with the weather of msia (sweaty and dirty fingers), not long after it will become opaque (of some of the most used keys). (experienced user here, lol)

I'm a new Mac user too! biggrin.gif

I was thinking of getting Speck for my MB 13.3 inch unibody (October 2009), but I'm worried it'll get scratched..Heard of complaints about case scratching the laptop before..

Added on February 14, 2010, 1:14 pmOr what about this case? It's called Aqua mCase..

Don't know good or not..It's the only case I can find for macbook unibody (late 2009)

i have to say both (the laptop and the inside of the protector thats going to the laptop) any hard foreign object like sand or something can scratch your laptop. but you still have to open them on regular basis to clean the dust away.

yup, xgear is cool either the leather or the fiber glass version....hehehehe

that day i dropped my macbook accidently. good thing it was inside a sleeve. a nike one. so there wasnt any damage to the mac at all, at least i dont notice anything till now. but i recon if my mbp was in a casing, it might have damaged both the casing and the mbp. but nevertheless, a casing wud protect your mac against small small scratches. but for protection against a drop, a wud recommended a thick sleeves. biggrin.gif

@Voxe,
Yes mate. Dusts or bread crumbs ( if you eat them while doing assignments on the MBP for poor students like me) would easily creep into Specks case, and you need to constantly clear them off by opening it.

@Sphinx,
How much would one cost? Do you have any link, mate?

I was thinking of getting a speck see thru satin for my coming MBP 15".... Do I really need another sleeve to protect it? I have a backpack for it... All apple accessories are expensive so need to see its functionality wise... =(

I doubt it will break easily unless you take it off from your macbook... I saw the review on facebook.. Looks cool and solid for me... Im definitely getting that one as its cheaper.. I also thought of using incipio but alot more expensive.. =(

Yea I guess backpack should be enough with my speck casing... Should be bringing my backpack wherever I go with all my notes and stuff xD

plastic is good ma...ductile material. plus it's quite thick. juz careful when u want to take it out, the clamps so easy to break sad.gif

but then better the speck break rather than macbook break right??

Agreed... But i saw a review in one of the youtube videos... He tried putting the speck see thru satin already then try it on with 3 or 4 different sleeves... I remember one of them couldnt fit if you have speck see thru satin on already... So anyone who is buying the speck, need to make sure if want to use sleeve get a bigger one =d

Backpack all the way biggrin.gif Been using backpack since the day I started working. Might not look trendy, might not look like exec style but it serves me well. I now carry 2 laptop most of the time on backpack and doesn't hurt me even tiny bit wink.gif

Experience wise, get those from Samsonite. Got nice padding all round and might look expensive (I have 2 and both above 500) but it can really really really last you for years and the padding etc won't simply give way.
Had 2 Targus before but all the padding gave way after about 1 year plus.
