what I'm trying to say is, over the last 5 years, Apple has made a significant effort to engage the general public, who just want to buy a computer and do their stuff.
getting a Hackintosh is not an option for them.
I've lost count of the number of people who I've recommended buying a Mac, and they've come back and thanked me for it.

before i had a choice between almost 4k asus notebook vs 8k MBP... double the price for almost the same spec. i went the hackintosh route n i was impressed by OSX, so i decided on the MBP smile.gif for me, trying macs at stores is not enough (i have zero friends using macs at the time). sure hackintosh is quite hard, n u dont get the full experience, but i think it's a good justification. i was soooo happy when i got my MBP biggrin.gif
if someone wants to try out iOS... buy ipod touch 1st lar hehehe. most of my iphone user friends have an ipod touch before. if there's a relatively easy way to install iOS on nexus one, sure people will want to try it. but then spoil la, since what i hate most on android phones is the terrible touchscreen
*
On the first part written by dvlzplayground, this is exactly what I mean. I'm not the only one who needs to try it out and then decide. And since the net has tons of hackintosh materials it goes to show many ppl are interested but not yet ready to convert, mainly because the main question isn't answered - What is mac? How does it work? I'm sure the eMachine guys won't let me install Quickbooks and other software that I need to try it out. So how to try at the store? How to play with it? Without the opportunity to try it out, Apple is is throwing away lot of opportunity / potential clients. Hey, I'm saving money to get an Apple. But I'm sure lots more are just sitting and forever using Windows. The only difference is - I've tried it and they haven't.

Well, hackintosh really wasn't easy. I've tried it since leopard and it took me a year later to fully master it. Simply installing and removing kext was already enough to put most ppl off. But I sticked to it, persisted. I must try this OSX... and here I am.

If one day Apple decides to make it more affordable, I'm sure many users would jump right in. Go, go, Apple!! I'm done. It ends here.

Unfortunately due to our currency and our earning power, it isn't affordable. cry.gif

This goes the same for camera gears and cars as well

Have u tought most people in Malaysia buying it easy way? Me also buying my mac with my own hard-earned money..But the payback was the long-lasting machines (not sure bout the portables, but the desktop so far can exceed more than 7 yrs age).

The matter is just about your willingness..do you determine to get it or not..that's all..

I'll say it again... we are not the target market.
Apple's goal is our non-technical relatives / friends.

Oh my goodness!!! Please do a before and after benchmark test, please please please? biggrin.gif

Also I read in a review that the first run of the new Momentus XT doesn't do it any justification. Do the benchmark after running it 5-6 times (e.g. boot up and running it day to day).

Added on July 26, 2010, 7:59 pmFIrst thing first, mac is already affordable, if u can afford it, means you're never ready for any laptop within these price, still look for a laptop cost rm1/2k. You rather throw it away.

Secondly, there is someyhjgn called installment, no need you to take 7 years to save money

Added on July 26, 2010, 8:02 pmIf u need 7 year saving to get a laptop/ computer, then a suggest for u, change your financial management. By this rate, it's quite hard to buy anything, like cars or houses

Unless u're saying getting a mac pro. But if u use for work, ask your boss

I'm looking for higher capacity hard drive for below purpose:

1) Video Footage or Projects storage
2) Video Editing

So, what's your option of model/brand? what's the price and the highest capacity recently will you recommended?

Thanks for now and appreciate! wink.gif

I'm planning to upgrade my Macbook with the maximum upgrade available (RAM 4GB, Harddisk 500GB).

Kindly suggest the best RAM and HDD for my upgrade. Price is not a problem, though I hope it's cheaper to upgrade it myself rather to send it to Switch.

RAM - ddr2, model brand, speed, etc.
HDD - cache size, speed, brand, etc.

My current location is in Penang, in the mainland. If anyone can further suggest which computer shop to buy those things, I would be very thankful.

From what i've learned, I also going to need special equipments (Phillips #0 Screwdriver, Torx T8 Screwdriver) to perform the upgrade. If anyone can suggest where can I get them, I also would be very thankful.

Usage Pattern - I multitask heavily, right now the running applications = safari (5 tabs), netnewswire, adium, evernote, itunes, things, etc. I also use photoshop and after effect occasionally. I play games rarely, such as The Sims 3, Spore etc but when I play games i usually don't quit other apps. In short, my focus is multitasking.

Thanks for helping me. Pardon my language incompetency.
