@mac.tay,
You mean after your recent update on the carrier network settings, you can still make changes to your APN? - as in the option is still available in your phone?!

Are U with Maxis?

If only the package is a little bit more interesting..i don't mind forking out a little bit for the local Iphone..i'm on a VP50..and hardly max it out...probably will wait if there's a change in the plan in the near future...probably will check it out too at the launch..

Here is how I look at it. I am currently on a VP100 (I think) but being in corporate, my bills come up to about RM200 ++ a month. And that is without data usage. With the unlimited data usage will cost an additional RM99 per month which makes it RM300 a month usage if one is on the non maxis iphone.

The point that I want to make is that if you were to buy a non-maxis iphone 3G 8GB SECONDHAND - it would cost you about RM2000 right? Correct me if I am wrong. And you will be paying like at least RM150 with the unlimited data usage if you plan is VP50.

With the iVP155 for 12 month - you will be getting your iPhone 3G 8GB for RM1780 and with 1GB data usage per month which is more than sufficient. RM155 is much similar than paying VP50 + RM99 for unlimited data usage and much cheaper than buying the singtel iphone 3G 8GB.

Some may argue that you dont need the RM99 unlimited data usage - frankly to me the iphone is hopeless without data usage. So Maxis is offering a pretty good deal if you look at the overall package. Dont just look at the price of the iphone - look beyond it.

@mac.tay,
It's weird. I'm on an official unlocked set from NZ and my APN settings disappeared after I updated the network carrier settings - I just checked again and it's ta-dah still missing! *siGh*

Their package is not too ridiculous like some said. Iphone or apple has always aimed their product at the higher segment market. That's why their product have some sort of high class to it. That's why maxis's package is shaped such that is for those people who pay a lot monthly bill.

It's really quite common for most to pay around RM200 per month. If the phone is too cheap, any Tom d*** or Harry will be having Iphone and nobody would want it anymore. Just like nokia.

Looks like Maxis is Apple's official telco after all, they've updated them into the Coming Soon list of countries.

I am definitely going tomorrow, chronicling the first moment an Apple iPhone arrives officially tomorrow here.

Heads-up to those planning to come tomorrow. There are separate areas between the 700 registered customers and the rest of the general public coming for the launch for look-sees. Walk-in-and-buy without prior registrations/bookings is definitely no-no, so be advised. Looks like I may have to ditch the Xacti for a better camcorder for far-off recordings. Still going though.

Added on March 19, 2009, 8:39 pmAddendum: the doors only opens at 5:30-6:00pm depending ok crowd numbers. Don't come earlier unless you're part of the lucky 700.

Was telling Hanxz that I might go but going by what you mentioned, looks like there is no vantage point for people like us though undoubtedly it would be a dazzling event.

Would just have to rely on your chronicling it for us. Your effort is appreciated, to say the least.
