i got latest information from someone working in Maxis saying the phone is locked to the number you register. So, you can't use it with other number.

no country has ever done this b4 lar..so its highly unlikely. most probably its gonna be fully unlocked set.

yup, at first it didn't make sense to me as well. But since it's someone working in Maxis then I just have to take their word for it. We'll just have to see when it launch.

Dont think you can limit a phone number on a phone..

if its locked to ur phone number that's f*cking sick wei! honestly i don't give a sh*t that maxis (or any telco for that matter's) bringing da iphone in. it truly isn't difficult 2 buy an iphone here in m'sia (whether u buy locked/unlocked) there's so many 2nd hand units for sale everywhere, u can buy it new or 2nd hand in almost every h/p shop, or u can even just buy it from our forummers. the only thing that appeals to me by a local telco officially lanuching the iphone's that i'm sure our local stores are really gonna beef up on the iphone accessories =) now THAT'S a good thing for sure! hopefully we'll start seeing new accessories very soon. most stores i go into sell the same old sh*t as their neighbors. not much choice really. fingers x'd
Before you guys going on with blatant cursing or other misconception remarks, let me brief you with Apple's regulations. Apple is quite picky regarding their products. Same like iPods and also their Macbooks, a single product can only be used for that single person account. Tho, a person can have Apple products as many as they want. Regarding iPhone, do you guys ever think why it took so long to get here in Malaysia? Because of Apple. While some of you might saying other countries didn't do that, you are wrong. For Apple iPhone, the rules are the same. A single iPhone may only be used by a single number. If you tried to change the sim card, it cannot be used. This is MoU between Apple and Maxis. I believe the other operators/telcos might faced the same rules if they want to release iPhone.
Of course that you can unlock your iPhone but you won't be getting special treatment from Maxis or Apple Malaysia. If you find their promotion as ridiculous since expensive, so be it. Apple Macbooks are expensive too despite inferiority of hardware compared to Dell and other Windows-based notebooks. But be glad that Apple has one of the best supports out there thus their pricing.
