QUOTE(deepan84 @ Mar 17 2009, 11:55 AM) no country has ever done this b4 lar..so its highly unlikely. most probably its gonna be fully unlocked set. yup, at first it didn't make sense to me as well. But since it's someone working in Maxis then I just have to take their word for it. We'll just have to see when it launch. |

QUOTE(yewjin @ Mar 19 2009, 12:43 PM) Here is how I look at it. I am currently on a VP100 (I think) but being in corporate, my bills come up to about RM200 ++ a month. And that is without data usage. With the unlimited data usage will cost an additional RM99 per month which makes it RM300 a month usage if one is on the non maxis iphone. Their package is not too ridiculous like some said. Iphone or apple has always aimed their product at the higher segment market. That's why their product have some sort of high class to it. That's why maxis's package is shaped such that is for those people who pay a lot monthly bill. The point that I want to make is that if you were to buy a non-maxis iphone 3G 8GB SECONDHAND - it would cost you about RM2000 right? Correct me if I am wrong. And you will be paying like at least RM150 with the unlimited data usage if you plan is VP50. With the iVP155 for 12 month - you will be getting your iPhone 3G 8GB for RM1780 and with 1GB data usage per month which is more than sufficient. RM155 is much similar than paying VP50 + RM99 for unlimited data usage and much cheaper than buying the singtel iphone 3G 8GB. Some may argue that you dont need the RM99 unlimited data usage - frankly to me the iphone is hopeless without data usage. So Maxis is offering a pretty good deal if you look at the overall package. Dont just look at the price of the iphone - look beyond it. It's really quite common for most to pay around RM200 per month. If the phone is too cheap, any Tom d*** or Harry will be having Iphone and nobody would want it anymore. Just like nokia. |

QUOTE 6. Maxis reserves the right to rescind any of the privileges of the rate plan where the registered line is not used with the purchased iPhone 3G. This is under iphone's terms and conditions. That means they can terminate your account if they found out you are not using the iphone with the registered line. |

but they said it's only for employee own usage. They will track them for this. If found they sell or let other ppl use then it's breach of contract.

err..no one replied my query yet.
The 1st unit bought by employee MUST be self used. Can they actually track this? Or they just call once a while to see if you sold it off or let someone else use it. Or else, I will get the employee unit from my friend. |

This is not a about the myth. It's about their policy when they sell first unit to staffs.
They said specifically 1st unit purchased by staff must be used by staff. I am sure it's not easy for them to track such a thing but since it's in their terms and conditions, I do not want my friend to get into trouble if they really have a method to trace whether the staff is using the phone or not. I think i'll go for idata plan. Seems more reasonable cause I don't have to change my plans. Hmm..diff between 24month contract and 12 months contract is RM300. Which one should I take?? QUOTE(ericpires @ May 21 2009, 06:06 PM) I've heard from someone in Maxis that they've only sold 11,000 pcs, this is not up to the target they set about 100,000. Seems the `buzz` about the Iphone have died down with their truly ridiculous priced packages. And they will be revising their packages soon... to overcome the slow sales.. but this is yet to be confirmed I am sure they are desperate to get rid of the 150,000 units that they have commited to apple. Since new iphone 4G is around the corner. However, I am sure they have a limit that they must maintain in terms of pricing. I am sure apple will not allow them to simply throw pricing to spoil the image of iphone's target on highend market.I doubt there will be anymore "significant" price difference. Maybe slightly better plans offered with the phone. If you intend to get, the latest iplan seems to be quite reasonable. At least for people already using value plan 50 like me. |
