yup, at first it didn't make sense to me as well. But since it's someone working in Maxis then I just have to take their word for it. We'll just have to see when it launch.

TRUST ME , the phone is NOT sim locked .

an insider news.

remember about the 200 gals (approximately) that maxis needs, for the so-called "open day"?

my friend got selected and apparently each of them get to bring home one iPhone as part of their training (to familiarise themselves with one).

but of course there is no such thing as a free lunch; they will have to return them at the end of the job!

Hmmm no wonder someone mentioned before ( http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/964872 )that once you applied the recent carrier update, the APN settings went missing..thus meaning you are not able to change it. I guess this carrier setting is specifically targeting the upcoming iPhone launch by Maxis.

But Tink faced the same issue as well after applying the carrier update on her official unlock NZ set. From what I see the carrier update only available for iPhone user on Maxis. I am on Digi and I did not get any update prompting me for carrier update.

it stil refers to maxis page.. so u haf to buy it from maxis neway.. tough luck on purchasin ur iphone tru apple stores aka HongKong method.

Yes, it just link back to the maxis site.
Furthermore, the maxis logo appear on the apple website directly.
So for an official one, guess still have to get back from Maxis itself.

@neekun,
You're absolutely right! I think this damn network carrier update thingy affects all Maxis users. I haven't had the chance to put a Celcom/DiGi sim card in my phone to check if it works - will do that probably later this evening or tomorrow smile.gif

@chinamobile,
Locked data meaning, U cannot disable data connectivity?

@starcrossed,
Ask urself what your monthly charges are and weigh the best plan according to your usage. A few forumers have already done in-depth research - just go through the different threads.

@VonDrake:

you still need to read through everything even the thread is 40 pages long. that's how a forum works and here, we don't spoon-feed.

all the questions you're asking can be answered by reading the first post. all the complete & updated information is there. smile.gif

"Could i pay rm250 a month or is it that i have to buy the phone for 1510 and then a rm 100 contract for the next 2 years of my life?" Pay RM1510 upfront for the phone and sign a contract with Maxis by paying RM100 per month for 2 years, include free usage of 333 minutes calls and 500MB data per month.

@VonDrake,
The only way to get an instalment for the iPhone purchase is to call up your Credit Card company and see if they can give it to u. I know Amex gives out interest free installments for purchases up to 6 months if I'm not sure.

@alexkwlee,
U do not need to be invited - anyone can go but what's the point?!
