Heads-up to those planning to come tomorrow. There are separate areas between the 700 registered customers and the rest of the general public coming for the launch for look-sees. Walk-in-and-buy without prior registrations/bookings is definitely no-no, so be advised. Looks like I may have to ditch the Xacti for a better camcorder for far-off recordings. Still going though.

Added on March 19, 2009, 8:39 pmAddendum: the doors only opens at 5:30-6:00pm depending ok crowd numbers. Don't come earlier unless you're part of the lucky 700.

Was telling Hanxz that I might go but going by what you mentioned, looks like there is no vantage point for people like us though undoubtedly it would be a dazzling event.

Would just have to rely on your chronicling it for us. Your effort is appreciated, to say the least.

Promotions come and go so I suppose if you did not buy your iPhone at the 'correct' point in time, you do not get the benefit of the free gift(s).

Guys, can someone confirm please.
I've asked this before, but no one responded yet.

Can we use the iValue Plan features (airtime minutes & data) on non-iPhone phones, like Nokia, etc?

Or must they really only tie to the iPhone unit itself.
*
Yes, you can.

I think it is a case of him not knowing what the iPhone can and cannot do and thus his surprise when he discovered those functions are non existent.

SingTel iPhones are unlocked (officially) and therefore can be used here in Malaysia which means 3G can be accessed.

i have a question

for the maxis iphone, their ivalue2 plan seems suitable with my monthly usage.

should i get the phone from maxis? or buy from seller out there which is singtel set?

what's the difference btw maxis officially unlock iphone and singtel unlock set?

thanks =D
*
For the phone itself, there is no difference as SingTel's is also officially unlocked but for warranty claims, they will be a little cumbersome as the unit has to be taken back to Singapore.

However, the price, if purchased from Maxis is obviously lower. It would be ok provided you do use whatever are offered in the packages. If not, in the long run, a SingTel set arithmatically works out to be a wiser buy.

The other question you should be asking is, will Maxis allow u to switch to the iValue plans if you don't get the phone from them?
*
Why would anyone want to sign up for th iValue plan if he/she does not want the iPhone? It is the iPhone which is the attraction.

It would be wishful thinking but if Maxis sells the iPhones without the iV plans, it would be a dream.

They do , its that 6 months thingy. I am not sure if thats the contract period or not or if you're allowed to say good-bye

If you think iValue plans are worth it , get the phone directly from Maxis. Oh yeah I've called up Maxis , iValue plans are strictly for Maxis iPhone. Even if you have bought a Singtel set and you would like to register for their iValue plans its a no
*
Yeah, I know about the Value Plus Plan, 6 month contract thingy. But did you see the prices of the iPhones?

Though it comes with 500MB/month of free data usage, they are still very costly. Well.....we all know Maxis, don't we?

If you want an answer to your question, please expound and be more specific. I for one do not comprehend what exactly you are asking.

Well, to know, you either read from the beginning of this thread or you go to any Maxis centre and have a chat with one of their customer relations officers; and then decide for yourself. Cheers.

Hi all!

I am just wondering.... the unbilled amount shown when you access the *100#... What does it meant? I am currently subscribe to the iValue 1 plan...

Also, may I know how can I subscribe to the extra 500 sms for RM8?

Thank you.
*
Shouldn't these questions be directed to Maxis?

So how the Prepaid plan works actually? I'm curious on this part, it's not like we pay RM2540 for 8GB model and just top up every month on any amount we want and Maxis wouldn't make things simple isn't it?
*
I think it is that simple.....even with your existing prepaid account you can just purchase an iPhone and they give you free data usage for a period as well.

I believe Maxis is embarking on a dilution of stock exercise to meet their commitment to Apple and of course in anticipation of the imminent appearance of the new version.

So, it is basically an out-right purchase of the iPhone albeit you have to buy their Pre-paid package which of course you can choose not to top up after exhaustion of credits. That is why to discourage that, they give free data usage for 12 months.

new iPhone? You must be kidding, I just bought a new iphone white from maxis officially, Maxis just announce it on March, do you really think Maxis/other telco will be released iPhone '4G' after just released IP3G within 3 months?

IMO IP OS 3.0 is just a plain software upgrade(or a whole system upgrade) instead of hardware.

I bet the price of IP 4G(if it does come out) is a rip off despite its hardware upgrade(if got la)

@air
Before the likes of stringfellow or nokia2003 come down on you like 10 ton bricks, let me just say this. Not that they are not right, mind you in doing so. In most instances they are.

I have been eyeing your posts and they have been somewhat tickling the nerves a little. But with this latest statement of yours, it just fortifies what was in my mind and that is you have not taken enough time to read the relevant threads even though you appear to be quite into the iPhone.

Your comments have been addressed, debated and even quarelled over, many folds, right here.

Anyway, if you don't bother, regrets later won't matter (new phrase I just coined for you and those who do not either).

But, enjoy your new toy, it's a great one. Cheers.

if no contract tied, it's worthy... I assume it's new.
*
There's no contract tied to phone but if the employee leaves he/she has to pay some 'punitive' charges. Reminded me of the early years when I had to sign an agreement to stay with the organization for a certain period of time when they sent me overseas for a course which means if offered a more lucrative position, I could not move unless I was willing to cough up some 'compensation'.

I am sure they are desperate to get rid of the 150,000 units that they have commited to apple. Since new iphone 4G is around the corner. However, I am sure they have a limit that they must maintain in terms of pricing. I am sure apple will not allow them to simply throw pricing to spoil the image of iphone's target on highend market.

I doubt there will be anymore "significant" price difference. Maybe slightly better plans offered with the phone. If you intend to get, the latest iplan seems to be quite reasonable. At least for people already using value plan 50 like me.
*
I believe the respective telcos in the countries where iPhones are available are left to their own devices to package them with their plans to meet their commitments to Apple. Just look at Japan....they resorted to giving away free iPhones as it was not popular or in demand there. Who knows, if you want to chance it and do not mind waiting, Maxis may, when the new version is lauched, just do likewise. Otherwise the likes of DiGi or Celcom may be appointed as well or in replacement, by Apple for the Malaysian market. Needless to say, Maxis does not want that to happen.

incorrect. the price of iPhones over here in Australia has been fluctuating (downwards trend of course).

with the rumours of a new model coming up, spreading like wild fire and coupled with a fierce competition between 3 (or rather 4) network providers, you can be sure that they are tentatively "simply throwing prices" as i quote your statement above.

hi, can someone tell me if I'm buyng a 2nd hand maxis iphone, if I wanna claim warranty, can i just take the receipt of the 1st buyer and claim from maxis? or what else i need?
*
If I may, this is one of the questions that begs to be asked but no one ever did.

However, I remember reading in one of the posts that someone did mention that Maxis requires 'the owner of the plan' to submit the phone for warranty claim. That was the only post on this and I read every posting every day. So, for the sake of those who have bought used Maxis iPhones or plan to, can someone who owns a second hand Maxis unit and has actually gone to them for a warranty claim please offer us your insight? Or can a Maxis rep give us the low-down?

It would be appreciated, to say the least.

Hmmm... isn't there a Service Card which accompanies the iPhone 3G? That card is used for maintenance/servicing/warranty service. They usually recognize the card rather than the owner. And that card is listed as originating from one of Maxis's plan. Isn't that the case?
*
You are absolutely right in what you have stated. But the thing here is that there are people who sign the contract, buy the iPhone and sell it. So a buyer of one of these phones, when he/she presents it for a warranty claim faces a problem as Maxis requires the original buyer to be the one sending in the iPhone for warranty claims.

I am actually against this for so many reasons but would not react yet until the above is confirmed lest it be superfluous.

Just got my i3G, 8GB. Is it normal that the Home button feels a little hard to press? Other than that, I'll be enjoying 500MB free data every month.  rclxm9.gif

If yours is a new set, the home button should not be 'hard' to press. It should be quite responsive.
