hi, want to ask those who work in oversea, how u all pay your credit card using e-banking?
coz using e-banking they will send the PAC code to your handphone first?
but if i went oversea, can my handphone still received the PAC code? or i need to change the country code for my hand phone number in the bank record in order to receive PAC code in oversea?

You will still receive the TAC / PAC code as per normal while you are overseas. So long you are using your Malaysian mobile, have roaming facility and using the same number that you registered with the bank, you will receive those codes. No problems.

I suggest you to add your cc account as your favorite account in yr e-banking system. That way you will avoid the hassle of entering the TAC / PAC all the time.

see carefully the reply. Both answer to different question doh.gif
If you want the bank to give equal or higher CL, better wait 3 months after the date you receive the CL increment.  this is to make sure the system has been updated with your recent CL.

QUOTE(hye @ Apr 6 2009, 09:31 AM)
Agreed ... I got hit by this with my new Alliance Bank cc. My CL is well under 50% of my highest cc / reference card that I used to apply. I fact I used 2 cc as reference and Alliance Bank still quote me lower. It bothers me for a while but heck realistically I only need RM10K on that card and free entrance to airport lounge was the best feature. I figured, it can't be that bad.

I'll revert to my experience using the Plaza Premium Lounge in KLIA later.

Is this the reason why most banks are suggesting rejected CC applicant's to wait for 6 months before considering to apply again?

Some banks practice this and some don't. Some banks you could apply as early as 2 weeks after you have been rejected. It depends.

Why do you need a local credit card when you are working overseas anyway ? Shouldn't you just apply for a credit card at one of the local banks in the country you work in ?

I think the problem is that you won't be able to login to your e-banking system while overseas. Tried this several times before.

Anyways, if you still need a Malaysian issued credit card while working overseas, the best method to pay your credit card bill is probably by auto debit.

Same here ... no problem. I could safely say that I have used Citibank Online, CIMBClicks, SCB Online, HSBC Online and M2U while overseas and no problem.

If I'm not mistaken you don't get charged for receiving SMS overseas. I can't remember seeing the charge on my bill. Like that the moment you switch on your mobile overseas you will be billed for at least 2 SMSes - first one to welcome you into the country and the other the local embassy information.

I'm more sensitive to the CallerID while roaming. Will only answer important calls from known callers. The moment you answer the phone, you will be charged.

I tried to login to my PBB online while waiting for my SQ flight back to KUL at Changi Terminal 2 via the free WIFI. I supposed SATS probably is blocking it to prevent fraud ...

Actually we'll be charge for each text message we received while overseas. I was charged RM1 for each text message i received from Malaysia while in Singapore via SingTel network.

I'm using Digi prepaid. The cost of sending text message back to Malaysia is quite high too via the SingTel network though i can't remember how much exactly. Noticed this after a day in Singapore when my balance was only less than RM10. I reloaded RM30 into my mobile phone at the airport before leaving for Singapore a day earlier. I quickly switched off my mobile phone and told my parents to call to my hotel room directly instead if there is anything. Sorry for going OT.

Above question is most relevant to those of you using CC overseas.

I just reread the 1st post of this thread to confirm online/overseas transactions and was surprised to note that AMEX charge 2.5%. Damn it, I should have came here to recheck the overseas transaction charges before I made a US3,420 online charged on my AMEX 2 days ago. Only consolation using AMEX is that I have Turbo Rewards and that gives me 1.5% cash back should I wish to redeem my Membership Reward Points for cash rebate option instead of vouchers.

I am also surpised to note on the 1st post where it mentioned that UOB does not impose any surcharge on overseas or online transactions. I called up UOB and they confirm this.

Luckily I came here reread the 1st post as I will be doing more USD transactions in the coming months and looks like UOB is the only card I be using from now on for overseas and online transactions.

I would like to thank everyone here who have contributed information related to the 1st post of this thread.

would like to ask, i would like to apply one more credit card which is maybank petronas. Is it the more money u have in bank saving account would be high chance to get credit card approval?

i spent 80% of my salary so my account doesn't have much money left each month ... n also having 2 credit cards but payment history is good.. either minimum or a lil bit of minimum.

credit card A & B (joint credit)
Combined credit limit = 4k
Credit Available = 3K

credit card C
Credit Limit = 3K
Credit Available = 600.00

according to my credit card current condition.. is it consider "healthy" in the view of bank?

Not sure about this but certain banks will give you a FEE-FREE PRE-APPROVED credit card to you if you have some big savings account with them and HSBC, Citibank, Standard Chartered, Hong Leong Bank and CIMB Bank come to mind.

Side topic again: SG roam on Singtel is most expensive, whether on calls/sms. doh.gif
I found out cheapest is StarHub. About 40% cheaper on calls/sms compared to Singtel.
