I checked the website and you are right it is not annual fee. You could call them up directly and check (highly recommended) coz that is a lot of money for the Yearly Facility Charges even for a classic card. (RM 2.4k)

Again ... there are other cc products which are much more transparent on their charges.

i made balance transfer program with citibank cc...rm1000... interest rate 4.99% p.a for 6 months base on reducing balance....so no fixed amount every month...

what annoys me is, my retail transaction for the month is rm481... i plan to settle all my retail transaction in full...

but guess what, their payment hierarchy is:
first settle the balance transfer first.
then only retail....
wtf...in my statement, min payment is rm74.05....full payment is rm1481...
so even if i pay full rm481 for my retail purchase, only the balance transfer outstanding will be reduced to rm519 (it will offset the balance transfer amount first)...but my retail transaction rm481 will not be considered as paid and they can charge normal 17.5% interest rate (becoz of that stupid payment hierarchy)... i think the hierarchy should be the other way round... plus my next retail transaction also will be charge immediately on the date posted if i not settle in full of rm1481 by this month statement due date...

its very confusing....so be careful guy....in my opinion this balance transfer is good but u must not have any other retail transaction in the same account becoz it could mix up with their stupid payment hierarchy...in my situation no point save interest on that rm1000 balance transfer but still kena charge 17.5% for my retail ...

I think we discussed about do and don'ts when performing a balance transfer in the previous thread versions. Actually it is not only Citibank but most banks will use the same payment hierarchy as well.

To be safe ... to all bros and sis out there - when you do a balance transfer, please stop using that card until you have cleared all the balance transfer payments. Get / Use another cc for your retail transactions.

dude, it's actually the provision of the maximum interest they can charge you for one year usage of the card; of course in islamic banking they wont call it interest but profit...

Most cc agents (or even banks staff sometimes) they get something when they do sign a customer up for the credit card product. Agents especially will be very aggresive to promote to you coz they got quota to meet and it is also their commission. It can be very compelling for them to do so as they can obtain up to RM20 per classic card, up to RM50 per gold card and up to RM100 per platinum card.

It sounds like the guy ask you to just sign up for 2 cards whereas there is no apparent/compelling reason to obtain 2 cards. Read the hidden trick - the person can claim he/she sign you up for 2 cards and get 2 quota/rewards/etc (whatever you wanna call it).

I will not sign up for 2 cards these days whatever the agents tells me coz I would rather carry 1 card each from 2 different banks. Plus, you can get best of best by combining the features of different cards.

Eg. Best cash rebate card is Alliance Bank cc but you see Alliance Bank does not offer any petrol rewards cards. If you want best petrol reward credit card then it is either MBB Petronas or CIMB Petronas. Similarly, you don't see MBB offering cash rebates in any of their product stable don't they ? (This is just a simple example)

Check out the first page dude don't be lazy. Right now the apparent (unconfirmed) winner is Alliance Bank and next is MBB cc. (Non-AMEX cards)

yerp...but from my past experience, i did balance transfer with maybank before, they have fixed amount to pay everymonth.... so the BT amount wont reflect as an total outstanding...they just charge me fix amount everymonth everytime the statement date come....

i think citibank really need to revise this la...its good that interest charge on reducing balance but they should separate it with subaccount just only for that BT...so it wont mix up with other retail transaction...

my action now is to pay in full whatever outstanding in my citibank...haih...actually i need to roll that rm1000 because i got oversea trip this month...so extra cash could be useful...but nevermind la...i would rather korek my saving (bsn sijil simpanan premium) as backup rather than being charged interest on that BT-retail payment hierarchy thingy of my citibank cc... its a useless BT program since i cant pay for my retails, which been charged at normal interest rate.... shakehead.gif

I'm talking from my experience when I did BT with Citibank about 5-6 years ago. Did they ever revise it ? NO ! It doesn't benefit the consumer but it sure does benefit the bank !

The best petrol rebate information is in the debit card thread. (At least this info valid till 30th June 2009)
