So if I cut, besides making a deficit in my daily calorie intake, when doing cardio, should I do it after weight training or specify a day only for cardio?

If I'm doing cardio after weight training, should I take my post workout protein shake before starting cardio or after cardio only post workout shake?

For me, I will do cardio on separate days. If still want to do it, do it not in same session. Maybe cardio morning, weight lifting evening or night.

btw cutting is the most boring phase. sweat.gif eat less, less carb, need to buy more meat and it's expensive. rclxub.gif

I see it as a challenge, it's going to be hard because bulking is easy and also because I don't have any fat burning supps. Doing things the long way.

As a football player who plays league matches weekly, I've had more than my fair share of ankle 'injuries' if you want to call it that.

If you can walk properly without much of a limp, then you most probably can squat and deadlift. If it is rather painful, then obviously it's out of the question.

HOWEVER, do not do bulgarian split squats while having ankle injuries. Because you only have one leg on the ground, there is a significant demand to balance yourself. An injured ankle almost always means that your balance (the proper word would be PROPRIOCEPTION) is screwed.

Try balancing yourself on your right leg, then your left, you'll notice a significant difference.

Long story short - if its nothing serious - squat and deadlift yes. If serious, then no. But whatever it is, no bulgarian split squat for you definitely.

Thanks man!
I just noticed my ankle on the outside is swollen. And I can't bend my shin towards my feet, and squats is impossible with this pain. My shin would have to be almost verticle, can only do deadlift.

Any treatments/rehab/massage/Chinese thingamagick to help speed up recovery? Is there any long term effect from sprains if I just let it be?
(you know lah, those old-wives-tale about arthritis in old age and what not.)

Not as serious as yours lah. But I'm limping just a wee bit.

I find cutting way more interesting as the definitions start surfacing. I don't think that you would need any fat burners until you've done EVERYTHING

possible to break a plateau like decreasing calorie intake, increasing HIIT intensity and eating the right food. IMO, only when everything has been done

and you still hit the wall, then only would a fat burner be necessary.

Concerning your previous post regarding when to do cardio, what I've gathered from some reading is this:

1) If you're bulking, then it would be advisable to separate your cardio and weightlifting sessions so as to minimize muscle loss.

2) If you're cutting, it would be better to perform cardio when the glycogen supply in your muscles are low (early in the morning and after your gym session)

3) Vince Del Monte said this:
When cutting, tempo is not necessary. You only need to lift some weights to remind your muscles to remain. The focus should be on cardio and diet.

However, I experienced quite a significant amount of fat loss even without cardio. Only relied on diet and weightlifting. The process would've been quicker with cardio I guess.

Not sure if I'm totally correct. Just wanna share what I think I know. smile.gif

Some say diet is good enough, but with my economy rice/fast food outlet diet everyday it's hard to see any definition.

Funny thing is I'm teaching my skinny friend how to gain weight and I really want to see him grow fatter, and it's back firing at me because he's taking me to all the weight gaining place to eat...like just now, we went to McD sad.gif

Mind to share your breakthrough fat burning diet, uhuk-uhuk?

LOL.

I dun know much about bb but when I was cutting I ate lots of wholegrain bread, peanut butter, whey, milk and half packets of chicken rice.

If I stay at home the whole day, all my meals would be from those 5 types of food. I add in eggs occasionally.

But I do count calories and I think it's of utmost importance to do so.

Btw, how did you get so big from that 2006 physique? My gf saw your progress pics while I was surfing the net and she was shocked big time. LOL. Must have done a lot of eating. Goodness me.... rclxms.gif

p/s: how do you guys resize your avatar pics to 30kb?

LOL, I eat too much until I don't know how to cut now. A lot of people get swole in just a few months, I'm suppose to be bigger than what I am now after 3 years+ of training and eating. How do I know how much calories a food has say if I eat a plate of chicken rice with teh ais or a roti telur+curry with limau ais? There are a lot of calorie calculators in the web but they do not have Malaysian food in their list. How do you count your calories?

Use photoshop, resize to 128x128px and save at medium quality to fit the 20kb limit. wink.gif
