First of all welcome to this official thread for Celcom Broadband, a wireless broadband via 3G service. This thread is a place where all Celcom Broadband subscribers gather be it to show off their speedtest results or to rant. If you have anything related to Celcom Broadband which you would like to discuss on, do not hesitate to post it in here.

The Official Celcom Broadband Thread Guideline :
1) Do not spam especially with a zero value post. Example "Today's speed is bad", if you would like to say the speed is bad at least provide a screenshot of a bandwidth test result.
2) Do not treat this as a Kopitiam topic, serious offenders will be given a warning.
3) No flame baiting be it starting a flame bait or joining.
4) There are at times posts related to downloads via P2P programs, discussions on this must not go over the limits especially discussing on illegal/copyrighted materials.
5) Do not use any vulgarities or profanities. Action will be taken if you are found to have used any vulgarities or profanities.
6) Celcom Broadband agents and resellers are not to promote in here.
7) Last but not least, be friendly and make this place a better one for everyone. smile.gif

Updated 12 March 2009
Good news for Taman Desa Ilmu residents (area KFC and UITM hostel), Kota Samarahan, Sarawak.

The phone line has successfully connected to DSLAM box near the junction not too far from restaurant and Jinki shop.

Try make an application to TM to install the phone line and Streamyx or JARING Broadband.

You can start terminating Celcom Broadband ONCE the application of installing the Streamyx or Jaring is successful and ready to be used. smile.gif

Read post #1050
Pick a package that suits you. Recommended using any unlocked HSDPA modem, or any 3G-enabled phone as well. If you still 50/50 to subscribe, you can try other service first such as DiGi EDGE, DiGi 3G (selective areas only), Umobile or Maxis.

Now, start spamming posting any problems, enquiries, or anything related to Celcom Broadband. Our LYN experienced customer support will assist you. No need to call Celcom anymore. If the problem persist, kindly drop a complain to MCMC. icon_rolleyes.gif brows.gif

-Hmm, since mid-January this year, my connection is really horrible here in Kulim, Kedah: sad.gif

1. It's very hard to get connected (have to try multiple times, if cannot, wait and try again);
2. Very slow like I've been throttled (but never reach the quota - at ~64kbps, how could I?);
3. Frequently get the "Service Not Available"/"Service Not Allowed" errors (blue/red banners);
4. Too slow connection on HTTPS connection, often timed-out;
5. Cannot use Microsoft Windows/Automatic Update - error 0x80072F76 (since several months ago, probably related to HTTPS issue as AU/WU use port 443 also);
6. And, very, very hard to upload anything, even sending PMs or replying to a topic here on Lowyat.net forum!

-BTW, I'm using Novatel Wireless Merlin U530 PCMCIA modem on Celcom D68.

@soundsyst64,
-Nice post count (999). smile.gif

Regards.

-Since I registered last April (2008), I already made numerous complaints, but most of them (the reports) were pretty useless (didn't solve the problem). mad.gif vmad.gif
Now I'm tired already... (but still complaint at 1111 once in a while if serious issue happens will I'm doing something urgent). doh.gif

I presume it's celcom problem, not your problem. Based on what I've seen and heard during my subscription time last year, the overall traffic now is completely congested, like streamyx. Hope digi 3g covers whole malaysia as soon as possible. sad.gif

@JLA,

-Their coverage aren't within my frequent areas, and not in my village also (in Sungai Petani). Furthermore, my U530 doesn't support EDGE. As for WINET, we have to buy additional (different) peripherals, and it isn't mobile/portable, too. sad.gif

-I afraid this isn't modem issue because once in a while I try to connect around 3~5am in the morning, and I could get very good speed (sometimes)! rolleyes.gif
But, I want to sleep la at that time... rclxub.gif

-BTW, forgot to add:
7. Now, it's really easy to get disconnected even when the signal is between 3-4 bars! cry.gif

-Sorry, overlooked. Yes, tried at different places, and it's different results. In Sungai Petani, at my mother's school there's a good speed and stable connection even during daytime (please note that there isn't Celcom 3G signal in my own village). On the other hand, uploading and HTTPS are still the same.
But 80% of time I'm in Kulim. sad.gif

-Also, if you looked at post #19, I said I get better speed & more stable connection early in the morning, such as now. smile.gif

the modem is not free. you pay for it. better still, buy your own modem. you are free from any contract. you pay less monthly too. start with d68 first. you can upgrade anytime

This is terrible.
Maybe you should try at other places too.
Or at this time , try to use GPRS instead of HSDPA , and see how it goes.
Btw , are you on D68 plan and being capped?

Recently (Past 2 week) just make a complaint to Celcom careline on the weak signal detection at my area(Subang Jaya). Yesterday only received call from them. There say my problem is due to over congested at my Area. And there say area like Subang Jaya, Shah Alam is having cengestion problem on and off due to heavy user.

There are on the progress of upgrating their server, what there say is upgrading the storage space and this upgrading process will only done at 2nd quater of the year. What la mad.gif But claim that once the upgrading process done, my problem will solved. Hope that is true that my problem really solved after 2nd quater of the years. hai... So if I want to download i need to bring my modem to office.

-Hmm, how about we all gathered and collect signatures, then sign a memorandum and/or petition to Celcom.
Invite all other Celcom BB users that we know also (those who uses it 3++ months and suffered below par service).

-Or, how about organizing a demonstration in front of Celcom HQ?
Or more daring, we all don't pay the bill for 2 (or 3) consecutive months?

-Just my (not so useful) opinions... smile.gif

no. that could put us into trouble with the goverment. akta hasutan. hehehe. better still, why not we all go out and terminate our account. say for 2 months. in the mean time, we all use dialup. for most of us, using cbb is like using dialup already. sometimes worse still.

But 80% of time I'm in Kulim. sad.gif

-Also, if you looked at post #19, I said I get better speed & more stable connection early in the morning, such as now. smile.gif

so i assume it was due to congestion, i mean ur house in kulim. not much cn do unless celcom upgrade the capacity or install new bts to provide more channel fr user. yawn.gif

i'm nt sure about the ur statement above, the bold one sweat.gif
does it means ur place got no celcom 3g??

not paying the svc = termination, the diff is, celcom cn blacklist u & drag u to court fr not paying it..it's very easy, just terminate it,dont put urself in trouble. tongue.gif

and reapply later. new users seems to be given a no-capping in the 1st month imo. i think it happens with all wireless bb isp.

my sister use maxis bb, 1st month heavy ddl until i dono how much, but the 3GB limit still not applied to her. and i still remember i got 3 months no capping when newly apply this cbb.

There's only HSDPA technology for Celcom so the upload is terrible because there's no HSUPA.

I have that problem (RS download turn to 0 KBps) since first day I signing to Celcom BB and most of the time while I'm using GPRS and recently they upgrade to EDGE connnection and the problem become worst especially after midnight but for 3G so far no problem since very rare I can get 3G connection (live in remote area of Bintulu). Already make called to Celcom careline more and each time they will say... We taken your report and we will check with our technical section and that will the end of the story... mad.gif

If 3 uses *99# then you don't have to change it, anyway just create a new config file and that should be better in my opinion.

it's more or less the usual comment. i havent been told that they close my reports. but it's highly likely since there has been NO follow-up actions after their silly "having problem and doing upgrade" excuse. no wonder i have no news of my previous reports. guess they just bury all bad reports and "move on"...

today's speed is terrible as usual. no speedtest result coz upload too slow. dl 81kbps, thats all.

Well for some reasons I see that the D68 package is somewhat better than D98. Those who experience really slow speeds <100kbps are usually on the D98 from what I can see. hmm.gif

R they gonna reset urs back, Massa? thought it is not allowed?!

true, it's weird that D98 "enjoy" slower speed than D68.

congrats to fruitie for the accomplishment. to be honest, this whole week i downloaded 1 series ONLY. along wif some very-small music. truly a broadband service from Sialcom. value-for-money...

well, i'm not surprised y this problem still exists for more than a month. more ppl (ignorant or tricked-by-sweet-words-of-Sialcom-salesmen people) subscribe to the service but NO upgrade or improvement is being done by Sialcom. btw, i'm one of those being tricked by Sialcom ppl into believing that the service is consistent. he didnt even told me the fair usage policy. only said it is unlimited. use as much as u like, they wont care... well, apparently they do care...

I don't think she did hide it. Well, if you really want to download then you'll have to accept the Fair Usage Policy no matter what.

Well for some reasons I see that the D68 package is somewhat better than D98. Those who experience really slow speeds <100kbps are usually on the D98 from what I can see. hmm.gif
*
Same here, I am also on D68 speed and always connecting to Edge with really slow speeds. Benchmark is loading of googlemaps.

Anyways congrats for v5!

Perhaps sometimes a DNS server issue that isn't able to resolve the domain name is the cause for not being able to browse websites.

I tried using my Windows Live Messenger to the latest version and it cannot be connected at all. Even if it did, it showed an empty contact list. Then, I tried reverting it back to the older version, it can be connected easily or after a few attempts.
Strangely, this theory doesn't apply to my connection. sad.gif

hahaha beware ppl, sialcom is watching. watch our backs, ppl. today's speed is as usual. slow. not even 100kbps dl speed and so-slow-that-cannot-be-measured upload speed.

chyaw, i think u just lucky to escape the throttling mechanism for once. but since sialcom has perfected their system, no way u can escape. remember, it is not the matter of how, but when. sooner or later they get all of us. well, look at the "bright" side, u r now as slow as us here. bright in sialcom's point of view, nonetheless.

well, even if they do, would they care? the connection has been gone worse and worse and nothing has been done. no matter how hard we complain or call the CS, they wont care. unless we get their attention. thru media like newspaper or tv. n i rather prefer other ISPs' spies around here. if they can use sialcom slow speed in advertisement like comparing it to their own, then sialcom sales would suffer. only then sialcom will react. honestly sialcom is now in its comfort zone as it has the widest coverage. so they dun really care. after all, they burn the complain reports after reading...

i just went past midvalley today and sialcom salesmen were luring ppl into traps as usual. saw 2 ppl signing up. must have told how good and fast the connection is... how low can these ppl go...

i just found out. if i use p1 speedometer, celcom speedometer or speedtest, i would get different readings. but what puzzled me is that, if i use p1 speedometer, i could get upload speed of over 100kbps. however if i use speedtest, i could get no upload speed.

This morning, I can access this website. Well, this promotion doesn't suit me.
Anyway, it opens up the posibility of "non capping" wireless internet broadband with extra $$$! Last time I heard in this forum is RM10 for 5GB? With the new enabling sms service, I guess Celcom will sms us when we exceeded 5GB, then maybe we type "XXXXX" and send to "XXXX" then get another extra 5GB allocation (need to pay, of course).
Do you think it is possible? hmm.gif

Why don't they just create a new package with new Fair Usage Policy Allocation, more GB limit?! doh.gif
I think that would be easier hmm.gif

It is quite insane to be at RM299 when I don't think they can really promise any good speeds although there is no fair usage policy for this plan. Besides, it is not practical for a home user to be paying so much. wink.gif

Well in my opinion, for those who travel a lot wouldn't be bothered about the fair usage policy. Moreover, RM299 every month for an Internet connection at the moment isn't that practical at all not unless you really can afford it.

I SIGNED up for Celcom broadband USB service at the end of January as I was promised superb service.

I specifically asked if there was connection in my housing area and the agent told me yes.

When I tried using it after signing up, the service was slower than my normal Jaring dial-up which I previously thought was already slow. Most of the time, it’s not even moving!

I cancelled the service and returned the modem on the third day at their Penang branch and requested for a refund based on their seven-day money-back guarantee.

The female staff member told me they would send me a cheque after two months. On Feb 23, I received a bill charging me RM717.68 for early termination!

I emailed them requesting for the manager to respond to my queries since the Contact Centre staff could not assist me whenever I called, but there had been no reply. I feel cheated!

MS GOH,
Penang.

Well it is always best to do your own research rather than believing agents if you were to ask them if the service is superb etc.

Please behave your language. No profanities is allowed on this forum even though you misspelled the word.

He is using Hop in package not D68 so he is not paying RM 68 for UMTS speed.

all i wanna noe right now is whether this situation is permanent or just becoz of some problems. am sure everyone would like to noe.

if this is indeed a permanent throttling measure, would u guys continue wif sialcom? for me, i may terminate it, seeing that there is no point of having a dial-up disguised in a "broadband" service. maxis has just come in my area, so i doing some research coz maxis comes wif contract... a commitment i rather not have unless they can provide me wif decent services.

RM 299 is worth it if you're sharing the line with your friends and so on and you don't have to fork out a lot

Not bad , comes with a good wifi router along with it. Its worth it if you ask me , if you can get to keep the router after the contract - you can sell it for a good price and it would still fetch you some $$$ back

insider told me tat the price will go up for mobile broadband in the country as can be seen fr celcom latest promo and digi 3G surf promo and tat why u-Mobile is no more promoting it on9.................BUT early birds sign-up will be allow to keep its initial sign-up agreement till dun knoe when.......( now even U-Mobile prepaid starter pack cost rm6.00 per pc as compared to FOC last mth)

remember celcom initial rm58/mth for HSDPA or 3GX last year? icon_idea.gif icon_idea.gif

and now rm98/mth

Just tested using Celcom Speedometer:
Average speed: 940kbps and Maximum speed: 984kbps

Using P1 Wimax test:
Download Speed :1039kbps (129.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed : 114 kbps (14.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 183

Lazy wanna screenshot because I think that it surely cannot be attached here. doh.gif

Anyway P1 shows my upload speed is 114kbps. How reliable of that results? I seriously doubt..

At first I was thinking it has plan to increase the bandwidth cap. Who knows it is talking about upgrading its speed. hmm.gif

Does that mean Celcom has plan to increase from current 3.6Mbps to 10GBps?! sweat.gif

Wait, 10GBps or 10Gbps? That is a huge difference.

10GB Bandwidth or 10gbps speed? rclxub.gif
if it larger the limit then it is good, but if he jz speed up, then we will capped very soon.
if sialcom upgrade both, that would b nice. brows.gif

dun think they will increase overall capping speed. they probably just making way for larger volume of customer. n since there is a "real" unlimited package (RM299/month), 10Gbps upgrade is not considered a huge upgrade. if there are 1000 ppl subscribing the 299 package and average speed 2Mbps, it is already 2Gbps... looking at recent speed, sialcom should have upgrade long time ago. they just make this news to boost reputation. a preventive measure since digi has come into play.

fruitie, u so lucky. plus u dun have disconnection while raining. i just been disconnected and unable to find celcom 3g for a hour or so. now only 1 bar of hsdpa.

Byte is written in capital B while bit is written in lower case of B.

lol. 10Gbps is not something to be bragged about. especially since sialcom has the widest coverage and thus more potential customers. plus the real unlimited package gotta take alot of bandwidth... guess this stupid upload speed is here to stay. capped to 128/10kbps...

well, the CEO probably think 10Gbps is such a big fuss, probably he still lives in stone age, just dressed as modern guy wf lots of "connections"

so frustrating everytime trying to post a reply here...

i also a uni student here. i believe that most of the student also will have the same attitude that they will play until the coming exam. then, automatically they will start study.

there is an funny SMS that forward on exam period,
the content are,

a 1000pages books,
author use more than 1 month to wrte,
professor use 30 days to finish,
student jz need 1 night to finish it, b4 exam day.

Yes, a student must prioritise his/her studies.
Funny yet factual quotation. laugh.gif

Hi everyone, Im new in this thread cause i just apply for Celcom Broadband last month. and have been using it for a month.

I applied in Sibu, sarawak... and used for 15 days there... it is not as fast as previous streamyx 1mb, but stilll acceptable...just be more patient for loading pages.

The next 15 days i return to KL and i used for another 15 days ...until today.. and i find the connection is getting on my nerves... I cant enter some website at all.. example: www.revelationrewardsc.om, it can load for half a day without anything appearing.. and my msn can be disconnected every once a while.. and sometimes cant even online.... im not asking for a super speed for gaming or streaming video...just basic chatting oso there is problem.. really disappointed and i have signed for 1 year contract...

Is there a way to make things better? im hving the rm 60+ package.. and will update to rm 99 package improve the situation? Could it be my location problem? Im staying in condo near One Utama Mall PJ...

I presume is the users congestion issue. KL definitely has more users compared to Sibu. Thus, you are getting better speed over there.
Most of the unsatisfied users are from KL, I believe it is the users congestion issue that causes all the fuss. sad.gif

One more thing, when using the modem in Windows, usually will get green light (mean slow speed available) but in Ubuntu, usually I easily get lighter blue color (that mean fastest speed). How come ah?

Well it is just a backwards technology and sometimes if there's no 3G signal you may opt for EDGE/GPRS. smile.gif

The capping is done to the account so no matter what you use to connect, as long as it downloads/uploads more than 5GB, you may prepare to be capped.

Top download speed? Measured through a bandwidth test? To me, if you really want to measure your download/upload speed, you'll have to take the results from an actual real file transfer.

Cyber cafes? The upload speed of Celcom Broadband is too slow to be shared with so many computers. Moreover, people usually will be playing online games in cyber cafes and the latency will just ruin their business.

this kind of low speed is too stupid....
people use this wbb on the move... to do work... they dont have the time to sit on one place for so long just to wait for a webpage to load..

Guys, refer the picture. Is it normal?
One more thing, when using the modem in Windows, usually will get green light (mean slow speed available) but in Ubuntu, usually I easily get lighter blue color (that mean fastest speed). How come ah?

it's normal..u may lock to UMTS/3G if u want by going to setting option there..

more like we pay for broadband service not dial-up. this is supposed to be broadband service, see Celcom definition of broadband here:

http://www.celcom.com.my/cep/xresources/Ce...html/index.html

Quoted: (from above site)
In a nutshell, broadband is basically high speed internet connection that allows browsing speeds of above 256kbps. By having a broadband connection, it makes it faster for Internet users to do the following:
- Email
- Online gaming
- E-transactions (banking, bill payment & shopping)
- Downloading video, music & games
- Browsing for information and news
- User generated content
- File sharing

Truth:
- Celcom broadband is not a broadband as its capped speed is 64kbps/128kbps. So should they refund our money for the days we r capped?
- Email? Sure, but no attachment wadsoever. Word doc? Na-daa... Pic? Na-daa... Ppt file? Na-daa... Celcom advises u to print ur file and post it through mail. Postage fees r not Celcom's responsibility.
- Online gaming? With high ping, how to play online gaming smoothly? Sure, can still play some games... Not all, unfortunately.
- E-transactions? Some online transactions have time-outs and due to Celcom slow speed, transactions are often either timed-out or completely infeasible. Oh, u have to pay bill to Celcom... ON TIME... Got it? tongue.gif
- Downloading? Sure, it takes days to complete a movie... Music? One album takes about a hour... Games? Depends on wad games, flash probably takes an hour or so. Bigger, nastier games takes FOREVER.
- Browsing for information and news? Probably the only thing u can do for now. However, sites with high contents of pics or flash r not included.
- User generated content? Not sure wad it refers to...
- File sharing? With 10kbps, we cant even upload files properly, how to share? Even posting a reply here takes tens of refreshes.

Luckily they never added online chatting... Coz I havent login my MSN for 4 days now. I noe I can probably login after 20-50 times but do I have the time and patience to do so?

allow me...

Truth??
- Celcom broadband is not a broadband as its capped speed is 64kbps/128kbps. So should they refund our money for the days we r capped? - 1st thing 1st,why did u sign up for it?if u dun realize about t&c b4,u cn terminate anytime frm now

- Email? Sure, but no attachment wadsoever. Word doc? Na-daa... Pic? Na-daa... Ppt file? Na-daa... Celcom advises u to print ur file and post it through mail. Postage fees r not Celcom's responsibility. - what email u use anyway???i'm using yahoo mail (non-std html version) & gmail (non-html version),no issue even fr attachment

- Online gaming? With high ping, how to play online gaming smoothly? Sure, can still play some games... Not all, unfortunately. - this 1,agreed!! even i never tried it

- E-transactions? Some online transactions have time-outs and due to Celcom slow speed, transactions are often either timed-out or completely infeasible. Oh, u have to pay bill to Celcom... ON TIME... Got it? tongue.gif - is this an excuse?i use cimbclicks & m2u wit no hassle,i paid all bills via m2u.

- Downloading? Sure, it takes days to complete a movie... Music? One album takes about a hour... Games? Depends on wad games, flash probably takes an hour or so. Bigger, nastier games takes FOREVER. - yup,it take days to complete a movie,so download it in a bunch & let it run in the bground. i downloaded few serials, complete full season up to season 4 now.what do u think?i guess maxis cant p2p at all fr certain package

- Browsing for information and news? Probably the only thing u can do for now. However, sites with high contents of pics or flash r not included. - i'm lucky enuff coz i neva need to browse the 'heavy sites' for whateva reason

- User generated content? Not sure wad it refers to... - i also dun know tongue.gif

- File sharing? With 10kbps, we cant even upload files properly, how to share? Even posting a reply here takes tens of refreshes. - does it means p2p?check my attachment

Luckily they never added online chatting... Coz I havent login my MSN for 4 days now. I noe I can probably login after 20-50 times but do I have the time and patience to do so?- check my attachment, sorry cant give u my chatting friends nickname tongue.gif lucky me i'm not using msn

By right torrents aren't throttled with Celcom Broadband as they have the Fair Usage Policy to combat this.

n ppl, SKMM is doing a survey in wireless broadband from 15 Jan 2009. for 2 months. anyone gotten their call?

http://www.skmm.gov.my/ViewWhatIsNew.asp?c...winrid=14754886

It is actually practiced by most ISPs in other countries and it does work for them. Here in Malaysia, although there is a Fair Usage Policy but the connection is still pretty bad.

Back using sialcom now... Had some much fun just now using other network. Ya at first, i dun believe it as well that DiGi has 50GB fair usage quota.

http://rediscoverbroadband.com.my/

See for urself if u dun believe.

N from wad i found, Maxis apparently does NOT implement fair usage policy of 3GB. Read ppl reviews from blogs and here. Dunno whether it is true. Will have to do some more research. After all, there is Maxis in my area. Hopefully it is beta than sialcom. But the thing that scares me off now is RM200 handling fee from Maxis if i terminate the service within 2 years. So must find and read more ppl reviews.

As for sialcom, dun think they do wanna upgrade. Love how DiGi stirs ppl, man. 50GB... 10x sialcom and way way much more than my current monthly usage. But dunno when is the official launch and when it will come to my area.

I'm just curious about the phrase "Downlink up to 3.6Mbps (FREE Trial of 7.2Mbps valid for contract period of 12 months)"

So does that mean early subscribers get to enjoy 7.2Mbps? Or does it mean that there will be 2 package at the official launch. One with 3.6Mbps but no contract and another with 7.2Mbps with 12 month contract? Intriguing...

Wad problem? 50GB quota?

If DiGi can keep up with the performance and maintain it then we will be seeing many people on DiGi Broadband since the quota is at 50GB and from what the current users are experiencing now, it is really fast. smile.gif

There is a Fair Usage Policy in which if you exceed more than 5GB of data transfer be it download or upload, you will be capped at 64kbps in your case since you are on the D68 plan.

You can use softwares like DUMeter to monitor your usage. Some modems do have an Internet connection record that keeps track on the total amount of data downloaded/uploaded as well.

few Qs here..
1. why dont u mention about their monthly charges?or other -ve factor of it?u r biased to digi?geezz...
2. 1st Bold phrase up there...it's ur assumption or what? sweat.gif

in case u dont know..
1. digi charge u rm128/month for the 1st 6months & rm158/months for the next 6months (CONTRACTUAL FOR 1 YEAR - A MUST)
2. Yes,currently it's allowing u accessing up to 7.2Mbps IF u register during their so call PROMO (but extended due to not much demand) period tongue.gif
3. That 7.2Mbps is only courtesy..digi can downgrade ur speed @ anytime. maximum 1 year.wonder why?afraid of congestion la..
4. human always craving for speed, once got it,used till death & hit limit, then CAPPED TO 64kbps. now only pay rm68 with 64kbps,later on end up pay higher for that same crazy speed rclxms.gif
5. COVERAGE...COVERAGE..COVERAGE...but i'm quite impressed wit current digi expansion even i'm not sure wit their real coverage.need to wait till official launch icon_rolleyes.gif

so if u want to state sumthing, stay on the fact!

i've tested digi 3g.friend subscribe for it during soft launch with free compaq lappy, it's exactly same lappy offered by celcom b4. but this package cant enjoy 50gb cap limit, only 10gb cos already got lappy for free.others are the same. so far,the speed is FAST!!

as expected actually..not much user or i can say no one use it.so if u want use it & enjoy it to the max,u better subscribe now.or maybe next year also ok if u love to rant about digi on the other forum thumbup.gif

p/s : maybe i've mentioned b4 that i'm EX-celcom Technical Helpdesk,left the company 2 years back coz i'm pissed off by exaggerating cust mad.gif

First and formal, unlike u, i dun have strings attached... k lets make a quick debate although i dun see any point in that. but it seems that u cant stop unless be stopped.
1. DiGi charges more than Celcom - true, no doubt. But let me ask u (not just realcheraz), which one is beta? RM98 for 5GB or RM 128/158 for 50GB? Plz dun forget that DiGi include a free modem, calculate the cost of modem of about 200-300... we can say it is about RM120-ish a month. So... RM98 for 5GB or RM120 for 50GB? Yes, u can argue that u have the modem or u dun wanna the modem but at this point, that is just an unfortunate complication. lets not go there, shall we?
2. At this point, no one knows wad DiGi wanna do. 7.2 or 3.6? If 7.2 is temporary, then for how long? Regrettably, I have no ans to that
3. Same as above
4. I dun really get ur meaning rite here but human is greedy. Dun say u r not. Coz that makes u NOT human
5. Coverage? True, celcom is the widest at the moment. Probably, will be for a long time

As to the assumption u said I somehow create for false alarm, pls do ur own homework. or else, u may appear silly. no offence. Maxis indeed removed their contract requirement.

Do I not mention the weaknesses of other ISP? Like limited coverage of DiGi and its contract... I did mention it in my previous post, maybe it is too old, u miss it. N i also mention Maxis has RM200 handling fee and stuffs. Geez... Pls learn to read carefully. And importantly, stick to details n dun get driven by ur pure emotion, hormonal instability or simply, rage.

If u have a prob wif ONE exaggerating customer of Celcom, then u should blame him/her. Not everyone who complain about Celcom... Does this forum only allows praises and compliments?

N my advice to u is u should change ur attitude. Perhaps attend anger management classes or something. If i'm not mistaken, i remember u saying u living alone and something along that line... Maybe it affects u more than u realise... Plus ur attitude of "dun care, some stupid customers making big fuss over something small" is the main reason u r now ex-Celcom technical helpdesk. Coz u dun help solving a problem by doing so. Perhaps, u r not fitted to be one. U should help the cust by giving some constructive ideas or provide assurance. U r (or were) in service industry that should provide the best service possible even if the cust get over ur head for many times. Not saying is easy but just dun get ur emotions get the best out of u.

Lastly, pls take no offence. I can understand u r biased toward Celcom but this is not meant to offend u in any way. Just merely trying to clear my name from being called a liar who put up a false alarm.

If u wanna argue further for the sake for argument, i have to say no to that. As i mentioned, i'm merely trying to clear my name.

I agree, realcheraz does sound arrogant at times. smile.gif His love to Celcom broadband can be seen quite clearly. Kinda evident and obvious isn't it? smile.gif

Anyway, don't take this too personal. If you can critics on others, I'm sure this little criticism won't harm you much. smile.gif

Yes, Celcom is good for some people, at least it is still acceptable by me. However, it still fails me some time. Whatever it is, let's move on.

From your latency, you are just getting UMTS and for me I don't really like using UMTS as the latency tends to be quite high.

No, say I'm on the D68 plan, I still can be on HSDPA if the tower isn't fully utilized. If I'm on HSDPA, the latency is much better so browsing websites such as this forum will be more responsive. smile.gif

So no wonder why I get this speed everytime , it's because of the latency.

Anyone here experienced the problem of login to Hotmail & Facebook using Celcom BB?
With full bar also it was difficult for me to login to Hotmail. Most of time will show time expired error.
For Facebook, I can login most of the time. But once get in, I can browse anything or even I can't logout.

wanted to get celcom broadband for use with my laptop with the n95 8gb as a modem.

but after reading so many negative comments on celcom bb, i think i will wait first before getting it.

I have also heard some negative comments on maxis bb, due to coverage issue.

isn't there any reliable wireless bb 3g provider in malaysia?

-Hmm, in Kulim, usually I'll be using my Celcom 3G (D68) from 6pm (after return from work) until 12am, Monday to Friday.

-During these past weeks, my connection is horribly slow (most of the time around ~64kbps downlink; uplink is more horrible). And don't say I've been capped because with this speed, I can't even reach 1GB.

-BTW, later will upload the speed test results, that's if the uploading doesn't fail on me. smile.gif

Regards.

You can purchase those priced around RM300 and the commonly used ones would be from Huawei. It is easy to purchase as it is widely available and getting support for it would be easier too as Huawei is commonly used.

If you are downloading from Rapidshare as free user, it can't be helped. Since celcombb used shared IP address sweat.gif

Celcom Broadband uses shared IP in which one IP will be shared by many other users. RapidShare does not allow one IP to do multiple downloads so you can say that there is another Celcom Broadband user that is currently downloading of RapidShare. However, this problem can be solved by purchasing a RapidShare premium account. smile.gif

That's the downside of an ISP providing shared IP to their users instead of a dedicated IP to each of them. Companies like RapidShare are aware of this which is why they will have the feature to be able to download consecutively on one single IP.

No and No

For Maxis 3G , the IP changes and they'll give you a direct IP. As in when you connect , your modem will give you an external IP - however most of the ports are blocked but it allows you to IP cycle and get a new IP address - this allows you to download services from rapidshare and so on.

For Maxis 3G , the IP changes and they'll give you a direct IP. As in when you connect , your modem will give you an external IP - however most of the ports are blocked but it allows you to IP cycle and get a new IP address - this allows you to download services from rapidshare and so on.

OIC... i thought Maxis also the same like Celcom sweat.gif

I usually pay at the 3rd month and pay only RM 98, that means I'll owe them 2 months. This time I've forgotten and got barred. blush.gif

Why so unfair? My one if auto debit fail for 1 day, I'll get bar for everything...
It happen to me twice when my credit card somehow didn't auto debit the amount. I received a sms (warning). then reached the pay date, service barred... The worst is the problem lies in Celcom's state of the art system. CS admit it, but I'm the one that get victimized. The great CS still insist I pay first before unbar me (even the fault is on their side). Well, this is "boleh" land! Anything can happen!

this is my payment pattern when i was using celcom

my monthly is rm98

i will wait till my bill reaches 3 mths rm98 x 3 = rm294 ( haha my credit limit is rm250 but thsy still dun auto terminate it)

then i will go to the celcom branch machine using my credit card to pay as usual BUT i will only pay rm100 ( its more than one mth pymt rite cause one mth is rm98 laugh.gif )
the system will hence tot tat u paid 2 mths and your line will not be barred rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif
i will repeat paying rm100 every mth and still owe them abt 2 mth in actual and not got my line barred

I find speedtest is quite reliable. Normally wadever download speed it shows, it corresponds to my average download speed. P1 speedsite can be tweaked to give higher reading since they r after all providing internet service. Or maybe the difference is due to the unstable line. Faster at one point and slower later.

I called Celcom Careline today as I've been experience super slow internet speed for the past week. In my area, I get around 3 bar of HSDPA signal but the download speed is less than 100kbps (vs 384kbps as I normally get).

The answer from them wasn't too clear ie: they are experiencing network problem throughout Malaysia but should be rectified today, 4th March at 2:30pm.

Hmm, sounds very specific. I hope they mean their words. This slow speed is driving me nuts.

Wow. i'm impressed u can get them to say the specific time, my44. like any other pessimistic celcom users, i have to agree that celcom always like to delay in almost every aspects except handing out bills...

i cant finish speedtest result coz of the upload speed n uploading image is a pain in *** wif <10kbps... not to mention the errors in uploading occurs pretty often. no way i wanna spend hours just to keep trying uploading image.

well, lets hope celcom line fixed by tonite. so tired wif these problems....

I've complained to them regarding the slow upload speed. It stops me from uploading images to the hosting and attaching documents to my e-mail which are true. I need to borrow my housemates' Streamyx to attach attachments to be sent to my lecturer. How ironic when my torrent download speed is stronger than their Streamyx.

Anyway, they said will get back to me within 3 days.

Oh yes, early months during my signup back in 2007, Celcom had the courtesy to call me to remind on billing due. And recently I got barred after not paying for 2-3 months, haha!

The customer service rep was clearly reading a note in his screen since he could not elaborate more on the "network problem across Malaysia" and "service will be restored at 2:30pm today". Poor chap, being given a one-liner note to face the angry customers.

Usually I don't bother to call them since for almost 2 years now I've been getting 90kbps speed due to my house location only within 3G (WCDMA) area and not HSDPA. Can't complain much about that. But about 2 weeks ago, I've been getting stable HSDPA signal and my download speed went close or slightly above 384kbps. So I guess it was due to some kind of "network upgrading" that I wasn't aware in the first place. I was so thrilled!

But after getting speed of only 40kbps these past days, I've decided to give them a call. I mean, what's up? HSDPA signal got, but speed was worse than WCDMA!

I'll monitor until tonight, if it continues like this, I'll downgrade my package tomorrow. Not going to give a damn anymore.

D68 and D98 both have 5GB policy... I rather use D68 then pay lesser. Any other time I'll use my campus fast WiFi.

how many GB have u used so far, fruitie?

quite true that both packages have same fair usage policy kinda unfair. or more like unrealistic. D98 users normally used up 5GB in a week or two. dunno how long it last for heavier users. D98 should be given more quota. but i doubt it will be like DiGi, a booming 50GB. A mere "0" difference from us... 5 and 5 plus an extra "0"... LOL smile.gif

havent tried today's connection. outside now. later back home then suffer... useless celcom. back to dial-up age...

Seems no changes after 2:30pm. By the way, if you have exceeded the 5GB allocation, will the Celcom customer service be able to tell you that when you call Celcom Careline?

I'm wondering, instead of making up stories like network upgrade or under maintenance, perhaps they should just say "You have exceeded the 5GB quota, that's why your internet is slow"

If you exceed 5GB, of course they'll just blame it on the 5GB policy. As for me, I only complaint when I haven't reach the limit. The strange thing is they never say about network upgrade when I complaint. Most of the time ,they say don't know what's wrong... They'll used words like "maybe" or "most likely"....

Yes, because I just got barred 2 days ago and with the same error message.
You guys gotta pay full amount in order to get your line unbarred.
Only by going to Celcom Centre will enable you to get the line unbarred immediately.

Actually when I called at 2:50pm this afternoon, a different customer rep said that he knew nothing about any problem to be rectified at 2:30pm as claimed earlier that morning by a different customer rep. Damn, aren't they all clueless?

And this one even had the audacity to imply that my modem or my PC was having problem. He said something like restarting my PC, take out the darn sim card, even re-install MobilePartner. What the ... ??

I can speak from my experience. If you pay online, you will have to wait until Celcom receives the money from CIMB (who knows how these people transact payment between each other).

When my line was barred, I immediately drove to the nearest Celcom branch to pay my dues. It was unbarred straight away by using their computer system.

Now it seems tat Celcom use default on payment to limit users access to usage of the Net doh.gif

So the recent so called upgrades is not actually an upgrade for users, juz tat it is an " upgrade " to make sure users pay on time to enjoy Celcom services and also conserve bandwidth for NEW sign-ups sweat.gif

i remembered many mths ago when there was no throttling at all till a so called " upgrade " was in process. During tat time we hav slow access to the Net. But after tat so called upgrade was done, most heavy users got throttle doh.gif doh.gif

so it seems tat celcom is getting more worst as compared to a year ago where we virtually enjoyed fast and UNthrottle/capless surfing. i dun blamed them cause their customer base hav increased 1000 folds .

i juz hope tat U-Mobile dun follow their foot steps.................

Shitmix also practise the same thing. I'm one of streamyx user for only one year I think 2007-2008. During that time, I presume tmnet not yet throttle torrent and i'm still enjoying bt at 512k line. biggrin.gif Till now, the line is congested and permit Jaring to take some of streamyx subscriber to reduce the congestion on their port, i believe.

Oh my god, I think I have been throttled after exceeded my 5GB quota!

How do I know? By borrowing my friend's 3G sim card (D98 package). When I run a speedtest, I clocked 1,270kbps speed!
When using my own sim card, I only get 60kbps.

Speed when using my friend's sim card:

Sadly, my billing cycle is on the 24th of the month.
So I have like 3 weeks to suffer with this slow speed. I'm surprised that I've exceeded 5GB this month.

I admit that I've downloaded plenty of torrents & iTunes applications since last week.
Prior to this, I didn't bother to download many things since the signal was outside of the HSDPA range.
When the recent upgrade gave me unbelievable speed, I guess I went overboard.

Since my billing cycle is on 24th, I don't bother to wait for it to get my speed unthrottled till then.
I'll terminate my D98 later and apply for D68 on the spot. I'm not going to downgrade my package as my account is already having capped speed.

Crazy. RM 98 for dial-up speed? doh.gif If only Malacca were to have more choices, I'll definitely ditch Celcom broadband for good. 2 more months and I'll off from MMU and begin my career in Klang Valley. Till then, I've more choices. Thank God. sweat.gif

Now there are three conclusions to be made:
1) You have lower chance to be escaped from being throttled. I wasn't throttled for the past half a year since my D98 subscription. For now, once you exceed 5GB meaning you have no chance to escape. doh.gif

2) If you don't pay your bill on time (3 months grace period), be prepared to be barred and you gotta pay full amount. doh.gif

3) Very bad upload speed. Do not bother to upload your images, documents or anything.

Thanks to Celcom, we have to suffer.

so the fair usage policy is enforced so strictly now. no surprises there since celcom customer base increased rapidly whilst the bandwidth is not expanding at the same rate. i too thinking of abandoning celcom as maxis just came into my area recently. but i heard that maxis connection may not be as good although they do not implement their fair usage policy yet. well lets see till the end of this billing month.

celcom will most likely stay wif their policy despite the 50GB move by DiGi coz celcom has the widest coverage. if DiGi manages to cover the entire KL and selangor, then celcom will suffer as these two states contribute half of broadband users (according to SKMM survey).

talking about survey, SKMM survey on wireless broadband survey is coming out soon. cant wait to see which is the WORST isp! if only they take into account all the complaints filed by the celcom customers, celcom will win hands-down. no question. no denial.

i wouldnt want to buy that. RM98 is already alot for this dial-up service. paying another RM10 for that would be too much. if u do have the option to go for DiGi or maxis, they r beta, i think. DiGi is definitely beta since they offer 10X quota at extra RM30. I think the remaining RM158 per month can be easily cancelled by selling off the modem n extra mini SD card. so still quite ok. maxis is really area-dependent from wad i heard. some areas r much faster. but the good thing is no fair usage policy so far. i seen several people posting their usage and all of them r well above 200GB a month. monstrous if compared to my monthly usage. which i think celcom will be unable to provide after all. plus maxis has abandoned their contract requirement. see proof below:

http://www.maxis.com.my/personal/broadband..._nocontract.asp

now looking for review from maxis ppl around my area.
