I don't know if this happen to anyone or just a few people, but this is for you who are using Celcom Brodband and can't log-on to Yahoo Messenger (also for people that experienced "network time-outs"/"server not found" errors for several web address).

The problem is in CelcomBB DNS, they are not reliable as they supposed to be.

For a quick fix you can change your DNS to OpenDNS. Read here on how to configure: http://www.opendns.com/smb/start/. For for the novice just change your DNS to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220.

It seem to solve most of the network timeout and server not found problems. Browsing is quite faster too since addresses resolved quicker than Celcom's DNS. And the best thing is it's FREE...

If you have followed the instruction provided, check whether your DNS changes are active by opening this page: http://www.opendns.com/about/share/. Take a look at the "Live Preview" column. If the buttons say: "You're using OpenDNS", then you have successfully configure your DNS.

Btw, are you using Celcom broadband? Because if not then this fix won't work for you...

But Celcom DNS problem is not only limited to YM app. Some sites such as http://sailearningconnection.skillport.com/ can't be opened, always gives this "Server Not Found" message. However the site loaded fine if I'm using office connection. For that reason I found this external DNS service to be very useful.

yeah im using celcom broadband 3 days already, now currently using pidgin but there's no voice call or video call, i still cant login to ym

Added on January 31, 2009, 11:21 amok i've done the guide, placed the dns server in the field but when i reconnect the bb connection, the dns dissapear and it automatically set to obtain dns server automatically. any idea?

Actually if u connect via the Mobile partner, u need to setup new dialup profile from the mobile partner setting, not via the windows networking.
From the Celcom Mobile Partner go to

TOOLS > OPTIONS.. > PROFILE MANAGEMENT > NEW >
Put
Profile Name : celcom bb 1
APN --> Static
APN : celcom3g
Access number : *99#

Then go to

> ADVANCED
Put
DNS settings --> Static
Primary DNS : 208.67.222.222
Secondary DNS : 208.67.220.220
Then click OK > SAVE > SET AS DEFAULT

The celcom bb 1 must be set as default.

reconnect your connection

it should work now if connect from the celcom mobile partner

Just to add.

1. Make sure u key in the opendns number in Mobile Partner. If u key in through TCP/IP, its not going to work. Mobile partner somehow reset it when u restart mobile partner.
2. If u still having problem log in to YM even using OpenDNS, try this.
Start...Run...CMD.../ipconfig/flushdns

tarraaaa

everything should back to normal.

As i try to so many solution still cant work it out

This afternoon i called celcom network to my place & i shown them my problem.
After checking, the celcom staff said it' really a problem to view blogspot's photo using 3G connection

Nothing we can do now other than wait wait wait...they solve the problem for us

with Celcom BB at office, can login YM, everything normal, even my Yahoo can do PC2PC voice call..

with Celcom BB at my home, no YM, no picts (on certain websites), only frustration!!

need clear your cache then reload again...

how about configuring with the latest usb stick vodafone k3565? i can't find the profile management in menu, etc. so how to set the dns ? i changed in

windows but nothing happened. it seems resetting my device when i did that. anyone ?
